Recently had to reinstall my computer which houses geovision gv800 and software. After my reinstall I ran the geovision restore program I had previously created. Everything restored fine EXCEPT the database folder location as displayed in the System Configuration screen under Video Log Storage. It shows the database folder as F:\GV800 instead of D:\GV800. How can I manually change the location of the database folder?

irishcrows,

You can create a PTZ tour with up to 64 preset points. Note the number of preset points also depends on your PTZ capacity.

To setup a PTZ camera tour using your Geovision system, follow these instructions:

Click the Configure button, point to Accessories, and select Camera Mapping PTZ Dome. This camera mapping dialog box appears.

Select a camera channel from the Camera drop-down list.

Select the PTZ model connected to the selected channel from the Device drop-down list.

If you have two identical PTZ cameras set in the system, you may use the Address drop-down list
to choose the one with the correct address. Up to 64 addresses can be supported.

Select Multi Position Tour on the Camera Mapping Setup dialog box, and click the Setting button. This dialog box appears.

Select a Preset as a start point.

Set the Dwell Time that the PTZ will remain in a preset.

Click Add and repeat Steps 2-3 to build more points in the tour.

Select Tour Schedule on the Camera Mapping Setup dialog box, and click the
Setting button. This Tour Schedule dialog box appears.

Select Span 1, specify a period of time, and select a camera behavior to be activated during the
defined time period.

Set another span.

If you want to apply a different setting to weekends, select Weekend Apply and select a camera behavior. And define whether the weekend includes Saturday or not.

Click OK to apply the settings.

Hi

DOes anybody know if Geovision allows for autoscan? I have 2 Pelco dome cameras and 1 GC-1480 card. PTZ control works fine on the server, in DMMultiview and over the web. I have tried to configure the cameras to autoscan but with no success. My reseller said all I could do was set a bunch of preset points and have the cameras tour through them, then back to preset 1. He claimed the autoscan had to be configured on the cameras itself. Does this sound right?

Thanks

What GV Software are you currently running? I believe there was a problem with the beta version that was on 8.3 software if you are running this software you should upgrade to 8.33

Hello Michael,
You should check your Upload speed at the site of the GeoVision Server and were you are trying to remotely view the cameras. You can do a speed test here http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest. For 32 Cameras you would want 1.5 to 2 meg upload.

Thanks James

Hi all

I am new this forum and desperately seeking some help with an issue I am having with DMMultiview and 2 GV-1480 capture cards. Here are some specs I:

OSType=Windows XP
SWVersion=V8.3.2
SWApps=RemoteView
HWModel=GV1480 PCI Express
ProductChannel=16 Cam
VideoFormat=NTSC
Motherboardl=Intel DG43NB
CPU=Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz
Memory=2 GB DDR2 800 Mhz
VGA Card=Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X4500 on board graphics subsystem
Bandwidth=LAN
NatInstall=Yes
FirewallAntivirus=No

I have 2 GV-1480 cards running on the server. Server is really good. However, the clients have choppy video. Does anybody know the minimal client requirements for the following:

video card
RAM
CPU

We using Giagabit NIC's on the server and the clients, and have a Giagbit router installed. We are using the multiview software to view at the clients, and plan to use webcam as well. (Webcam is running on the server.) The server and clients have DirectX 9 installed. If somebody could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Michael

antona,

Another option is to use the Geovision IP software (NVR software) as seen here:

http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-NVR-Software-p/gv-nvr.htm

The Geovision IP camera software also includes the Geovision 8.32 software that James was referring to that supports iPhone viewing with the GV-iView iPhone app.

I hope this helps.

Thanks.

Antona,
Using an application similar to what you are using now it is possible to view from an iphone. You would need a video server that is compatible with iphone like this Zavio video server http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-Network-Video-Server-p/v111t.htm Unfortunately they do not make a two port server so you would have to purchase one for each camera. Once you have the servers setup you can view from your iphone going right through the safari web browser http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/iPhone-Setup-for-Zavio-IP-Cameras-s/349.htm Or you can use the free iphone app provided by CCTV Camera Pros which is compatible with the Zavio & Vivotek Servers and Cameras. http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm

Antona,

The GV-VS02 will not allow you to log in via Iphone or Android. You would need a GeoVision DVR card with 8.32 software or later which you can find here http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-DVR-Cards-s/27.htm
with this you would be able to view via iphone, blackberry and other supported phones which can be found here http://usavisionsys.com/files/Mobile.pdf Im not sure if android is supported.

In the GeoVision System click on the Configure button(Hammer & Screw Driver)> System Configure > Camera Record Settings. You should be in the Camera Record Settings Page,First Select The Camera you want to configure. Under the Record Control you will see Frame/Sec Click the blue arrow across from the Frame/Sec. You should now be in the Rec. Frame Rate Settings. Check both boxes off and set the frame rate to a higher number and that will give you a smoother picture. You will have to repeat this for all of your cameras .

We recently had a customer contact us with this question regarding accessing security cameras remotely from Geovision using a blackberry cell phone.

Q: I attempted to install the BBview app on both a Blackberry 8900 and the new Bold 9700 with no luck. When I try to connect to the DVR I get the following error message:

TCP Connection Error

TCP Connection Error

RUN ERROR:java.io.IOException: Invalid url parameter

A1: As of now, Geovision supports up the latest Blackberry OS version 4.7. Is the Bold running on version 5.0 or later. If that is the case, then we do not have support for those mobile phones yet. GeoVision is currently working on a new BBView application release that will support OS version 5.0 and above.If you are running 4.7 or below follow steps below.

A2: Try a direct TCP connection. This will be under the APN information the user has configured under Options, Advanced Options, TCP. This should allow you to connect using BBview.

We Recently had a customer who was viewing his cameras remotely using the DMMultiView.He was trying to enable video polling to cycle through the cameras one at a time. After clicking the video polling it would only cycle one camera.

Solution: Hold down the ctrl button on your keyboard while holding, click all of the cameras you want to cycle through. If you are doing this correctly the camera box that you a selecting should have a red rim around the outside of the box. So you should have a red rim around all of the cameras you want to cycle through. Once you have all of the cameras selected press the video polling button. You have just successfully enabled video Polling!

Russell,

I doubt that Geovision would do it but CCTV Camera Pros recently invested in and partnered with feedburst iPhone app development company and we can definitely help you build a custom app.

We recently completed development of the iCamViewer which is a FREE surveillance iPhone app that allows you to view up to 8 CCTV or IP cameras. Please click on this link to read more about it and to download it from iTunes:

http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm

Feel free to email me at mike@cctvcamerapros.net to discuss the custom iPhone app development further.

Hi Mike,

My company is currently interested into a iPhone app. Would GeoVision be willing to do some custom branding on the software and/or SDK or something in that manner?

Thank you!

Have you upgraded to the very latest version of the Geovision software which is 8.3.2? This was recently released and is the first version to officially support the GV-iView app.

Thanks Mike. My IP is static on the Geovision PC. And it works fine with everything else. There is a UPS connected to the rack where all the network related items are (router, switch, PC). No power issues, no dynamic IP. And when I use Geovision remotely from the internet it is fine. The problem starts when I use it with iPhone. I will change the router next week and see what happens, but it is rather strange... I have a Linksys router at present.

Russ,

Are you making sure that the LAN IP address that is assigned to your Geovision PC is static and not changing? Some routers like D-link allow you to assign network devices static IP addresses. You can see how to setup static IP addresses on a D-Link router here:

http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DLink-Router-IP-Setup-s/162.htm

I would check this out in your troubleshooting. It is a common thing that happens when power is lost and your router reboots or your router reboots for any reason.

Hi. I got my new 3GS iphone last week and was happy to see that I can see my cameras live, using this application. Have followed the instructions and after a couple of tries it worked like a dream ... And then, I have lost my connection on my home LAN... Even that the router is still one and connected to Internet it is not visible to the rest of the machines at my LAN (no reply when pinged). After reset it worked fine but when I used the GV-iView from iPhone on WI-FI through one of my access points, the connection is lost again.... Any ideas? The only think I have not tried is to apply bandwidth control.

Ivan3492,

Thank you for the kind words about the support forum. I am glad that you have found it to be useful. When the GV-iView app displays that all cameras are recording, it is just reporting the current recording state of the Geovision system that you are connecting to. Nothing is being recorded to your iPhone, so you do not have to worry about video using up all of the space on your phone.

Please let us know if we can help further.

A customer recently contacting us with the following question on Geovision center V2 software, which is the Geovision CMS (central monitoring station) software:

I currently have a 4 channel Geovision system using a GV-800 dvr card. Our company would like to add a 2nd system ata different location. For this system we need a 16 channel Geovision system. I heard that Geovision supports accessing multiple systems from one computer. Can you please let us know how this is done and if any additional software is required to do this?

CCTV Camera Pros response:
The software CD that is included with all Geovision DVR cards includes the Geovision Center V2 standard version which allows you to remotely connect to and monitor up to 5 Geovision systems and up to 80 channel / security cameras. So, there is no additional software purchase required to monitor up to 5 systems. If you ever expand beyond 5 systems or 80 cameras, you can upgrade to Geovision Center V2 PRO - Professional Series.

Follow up question from customer:
How many cameras can be displayed on one screen using the Center V2 software?

Response from CCTV Camera Pros:

The number of cameras that can be displayed by the Center V2 software depends on the video resolution on the monitor you are using. Please see below:

In the 1024 x 768 resolution, select 6, 15, or 24 screen divisions for a single monitor; 9, 25, or 36 screen divisions for dual monitors.

In the 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1200 and 1440 x 900 resolutions, select 6, 15, or 28 screen divisions for a
single monitor; 9, 20, or 42 screen divisions for dual
5 monitors.

A customer recently contacted CCTV Camera Pros with the following question:

Would you happen to know if the GeoVision GV-800 Video Cards would work in a system running and Intel Atom 330Dual Core 533MHz CPU with 2G Ram?

CCTV Camera Pros support response:

CCTV Camera Pros does not build any Geovision systems with Atom processor so we are not 100% sure, so we will open up a case with Geovision to check to be sure. I know that typically the Intel Atom processors are used in very small laptops and PCs, so I would recommend that you first make sure that the PC you are looking to install the Geovision DVR card in has enough clearance and room for the PCI or PCIe Geovision DVR card.

The RS-485 or RS-232 communication cable is run to the Geovision GV-COM or GV-NET. CCTV Camera Pros recommends the GV-COM because it is an external USB device and does not use up a port on your Geovision PC. Here are the instructions for both:

http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-PTZ-Setup-s/153.htm

We recently had a customer that was having issues getting a picture on his cameras, he was getting a white screen for each of his cameras and when he unplugged the camera it read video loss on the on screen display.

Solution: First stop all monitoring, then go into Configuration/AV Setting/Video Source now make sure the video standard is set to NTSC For American video standard and PAL for European Video Standard.

A customer contacted us yesterday and asked the following question:

I currently have a Geovision surveillance system based in the GV-1480 DVR card. We are currently only using 10 of the camera ports and plan on adding 2 PTZ cameras to the system. In reading the Geovision PTZ setup instructions on your website, I know that we need to add a GV-NET card to our system in order to control the PTZ camera. I was wondering if we also need to buy a joystick to control the cameras.

CCTV Cameras Pros response to customer:

Please note that you do not need both the PTZ joystick and the GV-COM / GV-NET box. If you want to control the PTZ cameras with Geovision, you only need the GV-COM or GV-NET card. The Geovision GV-COM box or GV-NET card is required to send the RS-485 information to control the PTZ from the Geovision DVR to the PTZ camera. CCTV Camera Pros recommends the GV-COM over the GV-NET because it is easier to install being that it is USB and does not require an empty slot on your PC.

If you also want to use a joystick in conjunction with Geovision (instead of just controlling the PTZ cameras using your mouse and on screen controls) you would use a GV-Joystick from Geovision which can be found here:

http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-PTZ-Joystick-p/gv-joystick.htm

The GV-NET setup instructions can be found here on our website:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-PTZ-Setup-s/153.htm

The GV-COM setup instructions are almost the same ad can be found here:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-GV-COM-PTZ-s/163.htm

Customer had the following question:

I have a question about the Geovision GV-VS02 IP video server. Does it control Pelco Coaxitron protocol?

CCTV Camera Pros answered as follows:

Unfortunately the Geovision GV-VS02, as with all other IP network video servers that we carry, support PTZ controls with RS-485 and RS-232 protocols / connectors.

Please reply to this forum post if you have any follow up questions.

Thanks.

OK Guys... Hopefully this helps!

After being on live chat with an actual Geovision help rep for about an hour both of us were becoming being pretty frustrated. I was getting the ip/password, and connection failed errors when I had everything correct.(Of course you have to update your geovision software, and make sure your ports and options are configured correctly.) I then took it upon myself just to check the shut all systems down option. After starting everything back up it worked like a charm. What a relief!

We recently had a customer ask if Geovision words with Windows mobile 6.1. Here is the response that we got from Geovision technical support

Generally speaking, Windows mobile 6.0 and above is the recommended, so yes, v6.1 should be compatible with the newest version of Geovision gview, msgview and ssview applications.
