Some Zavio IP camera models have built in surveillance microphones. In order to enable remote monitoring of the audio surveillance on Zavio IP cameras, you must enable the speaker output when you access your camera through a web browser. [Audio is currently only supported using IE web Browser]

First, login to your IP camera from a web browser as you normally do to access your camera.

Next, look in the lower right hand corner of the live view screen and make sure that you un-mute the audio. You can see the mute button cirlced in red below.

A customer contacted CCTV Camera Pros today with the following question:

Our business is interested in using the iDVR PRO model surveillance DVRs with audio at several business locations. In addition to video, we also want to use an audio surveillance mic. We would like to connect the HDMI output of the DVR to a 42 inch LCD LED television. Can you please tell us if the HDMI output also supports audio?

Here is our answer:

Unfortunately, at this time the HDMI output of the iDVR-PRO8 and iDVR-PRO16 does not support audio. The RCA audio outputs must be used for this.

Toni,

Thank You for posting to the surveillance forum. Yes, the SCB-1004 supports one channel of audio recording. CCTV Camera Pros has documented how to setup audio surveillance recording in the NUUO software. You can find step by step instructions here: audio surveillance recording. Please post any follow up questions that you have to the support forum.

Thank You.

Mountainjayhawk,

Again, CCTV Camera Pros way more specializes in video surveillance and offers audio as an add-on so any system we have is more centered around video surveillance. That being said, the simplest and most affordable solution that we have to offer is the following:

One NUUO DVR PCI card with 4 channel video / 4 channel audio

This stand alone audio surveillance microphone

You can either choose a premade audio/ video surveillance cables that runs both the audio and video to use with the mic or you can use a spool of RG59 siamese cable with BNC and RCA ends that you put on your self like these:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-Crimp-p/bncmalecrim.htm
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/RCA-Connect-Tight-Connector-p/rca-male-compression.htm

As much as I do not like to turn down business, we are honest here and recommend that if you are implementing an audio surveillance only solution that you may want to see if there are better audio only solution available on the market.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely.
-Mike

A customer contacted us with the following questions related to audio surveillance:

I am in a situation where we need to have the house wired for sound - a living room/kitchen/dining room combo open area and two bathrooms and two bedrooms - the bathrooms could be omitted. The need is strictly for audio surveillance. Could you please give me a guesstimate as to cost? Is it something that your people could come and install relatively inexpensively? I have very limited funds, but this is becoming a high priority to get done and I am not a tech person.

We answered these questions as follows:

Although CCTV Camera Pros' specialty is video surveillance, we are also suppliers of surveillance microphones. You can find the one that may be a good fit for the situation that you described here: stand alone audio surveillance microphone.

The simplest solution that we have to offer is to use these microphones with an inexpensive DVR card that supports the number of channels of audio that you require. Our DVR cards can be found here:

http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-DVR-Cards-s/298.htm

The cabling that you would use for this can be found here:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/RG59-Siamese-CCTV-Cable-s/259.htm

All that being said, I am not sure if a surveillance system is the best fit for what you are trying to accomplish. You may be better off with a home intercom system that has a feature to let you activate or leave certain rooms on (the ones that you want to hear) or be able to select the room from the remote speaker location.

I would actually recommend looking into that first, especially for a residential install. If what you are seeking is more hidden/covert, then you should consider our audio surveillance equipment.

Please post any follow up questions to this forum post.

Thank You.
-Mike
