TO PB master im not sure youre doing this but on the GEOVISON program click the network icon click webserver tab if its a check mark by it it will take you back out so click it again and it will take you into webserver and jpeg and moblie port tabs options. make sure those options are checked, open those exact ports on your router, then go to http://www.canyouseeme.org type the ports you opened on your router and it will say success.IF it says success and you still cant see in its a firewall up somewhere TURN IT OFF....

HEY guys JUST a helpful reminder to get all the remote and video PORTS to work.Even if you open the ports on your router they will still show blocked,What you have to do is go to server tab or mobile tab in GEOVISION and check the box that opens the port. This drove me crazy because when you go to canyouseeme.org it says BLOCKED until the box is checked.I Promise you this is 99.9999% of everyones problem...also you can go to virtual server if you are having port conflicts with your router uncheck the port option and then go to your regular router ports and make sure they arent the same....

A customer contacted CCTV Camera Pros with the following question:

I would like to simply view my home via iPhone 3G using two cameras. I am looking for the simplest and cheapest way to do this. Is there a monthly fee?

CCTV Camera Pros provided the following recommendation:

Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. In order to view two security cameras from your iPhone via 3G or WIFI, you can purchase any of these cameras:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-IP-Cameras-s/404.htm

and use our free iphone app:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm

You will also need a high speed internet connection at the location where the cameras are located and a router to connect the cameras to.

Here is a link to the setup instructions for the iCamViewer iPhone app:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/iCamviewer-iPhone-App-Setup-Instructions-s/393.htm

There is no monthly fee to do this beyond what your Internet service provider charges you for the Internet connection. Please let us know if we can help further.

Patrick,

Thank You for downloading the iCamViewer. This is kind of strange that Apple has a way to lock the iPhone in portrait mode but not a way to lock in landscape mode. In iOS 5, if you double tap on the home button and scroll right, you will see this feature. If I find a workaround, I will let you know.

Thanks.

Re. iCamViewer: How can I force the app to remain in landscape mode when the phone is on its back?

Hi - when I hold my phone with iCamViewer running, the app will automatically switch between portrait and landscape modes when I turn the phone 90 degrees. I prefer the landscape mode, since it shows the IP camera's stream across a larger area. However, if I set the phone down while in landscape mode, the app automatically goes back to portrait mode once the phone is laid down flat on its back. How can I force the app to remain in landscape mode when the phone is on its back?

Thanks!

I have a GV-800-8, using Geovision version 8.3, I have 3 user accounts, and the Guest account is also active. When any of the users log in using the GV-iView, even through the "Guest" account, all of my cameras are there for viewing. None of the viewer privileges apply. If I log as "Guest" using my web browser, only camera 1 is available for viewing, which is how it's supposed to be. Have I not set up the user accounts properly for GV-iView?? There are some cameras that I dont want some users to have access to.

When I upgraded to iOS 4, I had pictures in 3 places. These seemed to correspond to places I had used my iPhone 3GS camera (Placed didn't show a map, just the checkerboard pattern). When I went to take a picture with the iPhone camera, I was prompted for permission to use my location—I gave it. Now I have only a pair of pictures taken at my home, the other locations are gone. I don't have the latest version of iPhoto. Has anyone else seen this?

pbmaster2k89,

In the router do you have the options between single port forwarding and port range forwarding. If so make sure you are using the single port forwarding.

If that does not work. Make sure the ISP is not blocking any ports. Usually cable providers do not unless you have one of their business gateways. If you have a business gateway then you will need to have them bridge the gateway to the router.

Hello Chucky,

If you have two separate GeoVision DVR's on the same network you must change the http port so they are different as well. By deafault the GeoVisions http port is set to 80. On one of the machines you will need to change it to something different like 81. Once you do this , in the GV-iVIEW App you will need to type in the ip address:81 for the port number. Also in the port field below type in the Mobile port 8866 or 8867 depending on the DVR.

I hope this helps.

Thanks James

I just recently purchased a NUUOmini, two Zavio B5110's, and a Netgear FS108P. I have an iMac with an Airport Extreme router, but I am also running Windows XP via Parallels Desktop. Cameras work great and they show up via Safari, IE in Parallels, and on the iCamViewer.

The problems I'm having are:
1) Viewing the cameras outside the network.
2) Having the cameras show up in the Nuuo LIVE VIEW (via Parallels Desktop)

I get two messages when switching to the Nuuo LIVE VIEW within Parallels. The first one is "Connecting to Remote Camera. Login Server 10.0.1.42 (10.0.1.42)". That IP doesn't belong to either of my cameras or the Nuuo, and the IP Scanner software has it listed as an Unidentified Hidden Device. The second message (both messages pop up and go away super fast) is, "Connecting to Remote Camera. Abort Connecting Cameras...". Then in the 4 camera viewer, the boxes are just black with the respective camera names in the first two boxes, along with a recording light in the top right corner of both boxes.

Under the Camera Status tab it lists the cameras as connected and recording, but I'm not sure what it's recording...nor do I have the ability to play back anything.

I think the issue with both problems are one in the same and have to do with the network set-up. I've set up a DHCP Reservation for the Nuuo in the AEBS, set up Port Mapping for the Nuuo in the AEBS (80, 5150, 5160, 5170), and tried various combinations out of frustration. I just don't know what to do at this point.

Thanks for the help,

I have resolved the issue with the GViView and both the live view and the RPB are working fine. Now all I will need to do is take my laptop to an off site location and see if it will work as it will not do so on the home network. The problem with the iPhone viewer required the port number to be listed at the end of the IP on the GViView and as for the RPB I had to do a server update on the GeoVision program.

The DVR looks like it is going to log in and I get 8 blue screens where the images should be and after a few seconds it says login failed. I have no problem with my remote view on my laptop from other locations and am wondering if it is an issue with the GViView. If I use the IP address to my WAN while in range of the network I can get the DVR to work. I'm stuck any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi James. Tks for the help. I tried with port 8080 and it did work. In fact, I had already tried earlier and it did not work. However, as you were very positive about Iview working with other ports other than 80, I started thinking about what I was doing wrong and I sudenlly realized I had forgotten a very basic point: to include the port after my IP on Iview. In short, for the benefit of whoever might bump into the same problem:
OO GEOVISION: go to Webserver Setup -> HTTP Port and write 8080 (or other).
On your Router: unblock this port on your Firewall (if it is blocked); it might be necessary to route WAN traffic on port 8080 to you PC IP (LAN traffic), if you have a router.
On your Iphone: on the IP field -> write your IP (ou a domain acquired with DynDns, e.g)followed by ":8080"; for example: 186.034.126:8080 or johnsmith.home.dyndns.org:8080
It worked perfectly for me!!
Tks for the help.

Hi everyone. I have a GV-800 card on my PC and I want to use an IPhone4 with GV-iview to monitor my home cameras. The problem is that my ISP blocks port 80 and it seems that Iview only works if that port is available, because I always get a message saying the program is not able to connect to GV-800. I have followed all the instructions to config the board and teste it by taking the PC to a friend's house who uses a different ISP and I was able to see the cameras on my Iphone. Is there any way to get iview working with another port? Tks in advance for the help.

In this post I will show you how to setup the email alerts for the iDVR-E Video Surveillance DVR.

In order for the email alerts to work properly you will need to make sure the DDNS server is setup within your iDVR-e.

1.) Make sure you have the motion setup per camera you would like to receive email alerts for. (Please refer to pg. 33-34 of the iDVR-E manual for more info)

2.) Turn on the Email alerts. To do this you will need to go into the network menu on the DVR. Now go into the Email setup tab. You will now set it to default. Now below you will see Email Address, this is where you will input the email address you would like the alerts to be sent. You can enable up to 5 different email address. (pg. 45 of the manual)

3.) If you would like email to be sent only at certain times of the day then you will need to setup schedule recording. (pg. 40-41 manual)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I'm going to answer my own question: RPB issue is fixed with a patch to the server. Quote from the recent change log to the iPhone app:

3. Fixed GV-IView v2.1 can not playback(RPB) video file from V8.4.0.0 DVR/NVR (should update a patch file from http://www.geovision.com.tw/mis/GVLVLServer.zip to NVR/DVR folder)

So just download the aforementioned file, unzip and put the contents into wherever you installed Geovision software. Completely close Geovision app on the PC and start it again.

I am using it on the local network to rule out any port forwarding issues. I can see the list of recordings (motion events) but clicking any of them just brings up flickering green/blue image. What could be the problem?

CCTV Camera Pros has been asked several times if a router is required in order to view an IP camera from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

The answer is yes, is order to view the live video of a network IP camera from an iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone, the camera must be connected to a network router, either hard wired with Ethernet cable or wireless / WIFI. The Apple device can then connect to the camera by also connecting to the same wireless router.

If a user wants to access the camera video from outside of the local area network, then the user must setup port forwarding in order to allow access to the camera from the Internet. More information on setting up port forwarding for security cameras and DVRs can be found here:

Well, I think that I have figured out my problem! In the camera setup, I had not named my first camera.

Apparently if you do not give the camera a name, the app will not allow you to add a second camera, but instead returns you to the configuration screen.

With best regards,

re.: iPhone app - can't add second camera?

Hi, I am using the iPhone iCamViewer app successfully to view a IP camera, but I'm having difficulty adding a second camera.

When I click on the + button at the top-right corner of the screen (in the My Cams" view), the app goes to the same exact screen as the Config button. Thus, the + button is not allowing me to add a second camera, but instead is overwriting the settings of the first camera with the settings of the second camera.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

dav,

That is correct you can use the webcam server anywhere in the world as long as you have internet connectivity. If you want to connect via a web browser you will need to use Internet Explorer. You need to type in your ip address in the URL. Once you log in you will need to install the active X controls.

You can also use the GeaVision Remote Client software which can be downloaded here http://usavisionsys.com/download/file.php?category=1&file=f899139df5e1059396431415e770c6dd

I am wondering, is the Geovision Webcam Servor an application that I could use anywhere i can get to a webroser. Or does it require special software downloaded to the computer with that I want to remote access my home geovision dvr. I do some traveling, and sometimes I don't bring my laptop, but I do run accross some free wifi internet cafe. I have a static ip and the geovision 1480 card. Currently I use a hamachi application that is on both my geovision based dvr and my laptop I take to work. I'm just thinking since I now have a static I could just type the ip/port in the brouser and apply the username and password to access it anywhere in the world. Is this right? Anyone have a link for directions.?

Hello everyone. I have a geovision dvr connected to my home network and I can access it just fine from my iphone 4 , with the gv-iview app. when i try to use the app on my iphone outside my network using at&t 3g, i can only get the recorded view portion to work. When i select the live view (dvr) using the required same ip address it starts to go to the six camera split screen page, but it is all black and only shows dvr and record button for a breif moment then it crashes and the app clodes completly. I have all the required ports open, 8866. 80, 5511, etc. I have checked them using the open port tool. The only thing that seems wierd is I cant port forward port 80 to my netgear router. It says it is already being us by other configurations. But the port checker tool says its open. And like i said the app does work with recorded view, just not live view. The geovision capture card is 1480 ver. 8.3.4, and my iphone app is Gv-iView v2.1.1. Do you know how to correct this problem. I see it over and over again on support forumns and I have tried many of the tips I found on the forumns. Let me know if you have a solution. Thanks

when i click "live view" it brings up the options for 1 windows, 2 windows, multicast, and jpgeg image viewer

jpeg image viewer is the only thing that works, but obviously the image quality is horrible and grainy...

when i do the 1 window and such, i get the no permission to download ocx etc...

but when i click "play" for 1 window or however many, it does not work....only can see streaming view on the jpeg image viewer...

A customer contacted CCTV Camera Pros with the following question:

Please provide information about your products. I recently bought an iphone and an ipad. My hope is to buy a security cameras for my house and car. I want to keep video surveillance on these areas. I will be VERY close to the cameras, within 10-20 feet at all times.

My hope is to find a camera that will transmit a WiFi signal directly to the iphone without the use of a router.

Below are parts of your ad about the Zavio F210A IP Camera. The ad says that you can watch this camera directly from the Safari web browser. Please give me your best advise.

CCTV Camera Pros provided the following response to the customer:

Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. Unfortunately, you will need a wireless router in order to view the cameras from your iPhone. There is no way that I know of to connect a device directly to the iPhone (peer to peer) unless you use Bluetooth technology, and there are no security cameras on the market that I know of that use Bluetooth.

The Zavio F210A IP camera would need to be connected with an Ethernet cable to your wireless router, then your iPhone connects to that router over the wireless port. You could then view the camera video and control the settings of the camera through the Safari web browser app or you could view the security camera live using our iCamViewer iPhone app:
http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm

It would work the same way for all IP security cameras available. Please let us know if we can help further.

Follow up questions from the customer:

I appreciate your reply. Your answer means that ALL cameras need a router to interface with the an iphone or ipad. But, wireless cameras means "no wire", and therefore this type does not need an Ethernet cable; right ?

My project is to put a back-up camera in my older Prius. I hope to use my ipad as the monitor or view screen. In order to increase my angle of view, I was hoping to put in two or three different cameras aimed out the back. What is your suggestion for a working system? The cameras will need night vision. The cameras and router will need to be fairly sturdy since they will be giggled around during regular driving.

CCTV Camera Pros Response:

You are correct, with a wireless IP camera, the camera can connect to the router via a wireless bridge, instead of being hard wired.

I do not think this type of equipment will be the best choice for a mobile camera system though. There are wired mobile solutions on the market. Although we do not carry them at this time, that is what I would recommend looking into.

Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

JCHaldas on "NUUO Surveillance Commonly Asked Questions"

CCTV Camera Pros recently had a customer inquire with the following questions related to NUUO surveillance systems:

1. If they decide to go with all IP cameras, what are the live view scenarios that we can expect with such a high bandwidth load from that many cameras?

Here is a calculator you can use to calculate Bandwidth , HDD Space and recommended Processor http://support.nuuo.com/calculator/

    * The minimum hardware required to run NUUO IP camera software depends mainly on the number of cameras and their video settings.
* The calculator is for NUUO IP+(NVR), NUUO SCB Series(DVR), NUUO Hybrid solution, or NUUO NVR.
* NUUO products support Windows 2003 32-bit and Windows XP 32-bit.
* All products also support Windows Vista 32-bit, except SCB-5000 Series and SCB-4016.
* The default bitrate for audio is 48 Kbps.
* Using network drives for recording is NOT recommended. It is recommended to directly attach a hard drive instead of using network drives.
* Minimum bandwitdh is the least amount of network capacity required for data streaming over LAN or internet. Please reserve 40% or more bandwidth to guarantee stable connection and good remote viewing quality. For instance, 0.8 Mbps (or 800 Kbps) of streaming data works fine with a 2 Mbps upload network connection but not with a 1 Mbps upload network connection.
* All the testing video streams are set to normal qualities.
* NVRmini bandwidth limits
o NV2020 has a maximum bandwidth limit of 20 Mbps.
o NV2040 has a maximum bandwidth limit of 20 Mbps.
o NV4080 has a maximum bandwidth limit of 30 Mbps.
o NV4016 has a maximum bandwidth limit of 22 Mbps.
* It is required that a dedicated graphics card be installed. Please see also our hardware compatibility list.

2. They want to be able to record all of the cameras as well. Some of them will be on full time record and some will be on motion recording. Would they be better off with 2 DVR’s to give them a longer playback time frame?

If they are going over 32 cameras I would recommend to separate units. Also refer to calculator above for estimate on HDD recommendation.

    3. If they have 2 DVR’s, using the NUUO system, will they be linked?

You can use the client software that comes with the NUUO systems to view up to 64 cameras on one central station over the web or on the internal LAN. You can also review the playback using the client software.

    4. What kind of Live View software comes with the NUUO system? I have only used Geovision at this point. Do they have remote playback capabilities?

You can view remotely by using the Client software that comes with all of our NUUO software or via IE web browser. Playback is supported

    5. They are looking at probably 3 PTZ cameras in this system. How are those cameras controlled in the NUUO setup? Can they be controlled by the DVR software?

If they are using analog PTZ cameras they will need this piece here to integrate it with the NUUO servers http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/USB-to-RS-485-p/nuuo-scb-c08.htm

If they are using IP PTZ cameras than there is no additional hardware needed. You would just have to make sure that the camera is supported by NUUO http://support.nuuo.com/mediawiki/index.php/Supported_cameras

    6. Does the NUUO system allow for multiple levels of login? They want to be able to control some of the functions at the guard station (ie – PTZ control, playback, single camera view, etc) but want to be able to lock out programming.

Yes you can create unlimited user accounts and customize user privileges per user.

After Reading this if you have any questions feel free to ask!!!

I have the system working well except for one minor issue. I have renamed all the cameras on the GV server, but they still come up as camera 1, camera 2, etc in iView. Is there a way to have the camera names transfer to the phone as well? It's software version 8.3.1 on the server

Hello Mintz,

Yes what you are trying to do is possible. You will need to change the mobile ports. You can keep DVR A at the default 8866(Live) and 5511(Playback). For DVR B you can change the mobile ports to say 8080(Live) and 5512(Playback).

I hope this helps.

I am trying to get a previously working iphone 3g to view the camera's with gv iview, the only thing that is changed is there was a new version of software down loaded onto the computer at the site , don't know the software version but it is about 6 months old, the new version was installed last week.

I tried to download newest version of gv view to iphone 3g but it will not download onto the version of software onto the iphone.

I have another 4g iphone version 4.1 with GV view version
2.1.1 that connects fine

I know I have to update software in 3g iphone to latest available.

Is there an incompatability issue with old version GV view and new version of computer surveilance program ( sorry I don't have the version numbers in front of me for the computer surveilance program).

geobot,

Is it only working on WIFI at the location where the Geovision surveillance recorder is located?

If so then, you need to make sure to setup port forwarding and that you are using the IP address of the Internet connection where the Geovision system is located. You can find more info on port forwarding your surveillance system here:
