An installation partner recently asked CCTV Camera Pros the following questions:

I have a big project that is really a great oppurtunity for us. They need about (21) 5 megapixel cameras, and some type of recording device. I really dont know which way to go or what network requirements are. There are nine diffrent but local buildings with fiber between them. My question is could I put one pc recorder that I get you guys to build or should I put several diffrent 4 channel pc recorders. Also, please let know how the system will tax the bandwidth of the network.

Arecont Vision Support,

Recently we had a customer ask us if the Arecont Megapixel IP cameras that we supply can work with IR illuminators and infrared camera housings. If so, they also want to know if there is an output from the camera that can trigger the IR illuminators in an infrared housing to turn on when the camera switches to night mode (when the IR-cut filter engages).

Specifically the day night models that we need to know if they work with IR or not are:

AV1305-DN

AV1300-DN

AV3105-DN

AV5105-DN

AV2100-DN

AV5100-DN

AV3100-DN

AV2105-DN

AV3130

Thank You.

Vivotek Support,

A customer of ours recently contacted us and is interested in purchasing a Vivotek IP7161 2 megapixel camera. Their questions are in regards to the camera's night vision capability and operation.

What exactly does removable IR-cut Filter for Day & Night Function mean? Does this mean that the IR cut filter automatically and mechanically moves into place when the light level goes below a certain level? or does it mean that the IR cut filter can manually be removed or added to adjust how well the camera performs in low light?

Can the IP7161 camera be used with IR illuminators effectively like you can with day night CCTV cameras?

Please post the reply to this message forum.

Thanks.
-Mike
