Can I use CAT-5 cable to run video and power to the security cameras that were included with a Samsung video surveillance system from Costco?

A customer emailed me today and asked the above question to see if they can use the existing CAT-5 cable that they have in place.

    Here is my response.

Most likely yes, you will be able to leverage your existing CAT5 cable to run both power and video to your DVR. Please just verify that your DVR uses BNC video inputs for the camera feeds. If it does, then you can use these power + video CCTV baluns.

There is a video on that page that explains how to use them.

If you are unsure if your DVR uses BNC, send me a picture of the back of the DVR and I will confirm.

    Sincerely.
