JPEG2000 8 cameras backup issues

I would like to be about to use an USB hard drive versus a thumb drive to backup. Is this possible? This way I can select a couple of days and let it backup.

Also, is there a trick to have the backup move faster? It takes 15-20 minutes to backup 2gb of video on to a USB thumbdrive.

I have tried doing this over the network and it is just as slow. When I have to dump 4 hours worth of video for 3-4 nights, this takes many hours.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Aaron,

The JPEG2000 stand alone DVRs do not support USB hard drives. They only support thumb drives and yes the backup does take a while to perform. If this backing up hours or days of video is an important requirement for your surveillance system, you may want to consider upgrading to a PC based DVR like the ones these with NUUO DVR cards & software:

They perform large backups quote well to external hard drives or over a network to a network drive.

You can also use a DVR card and build your own PC:

Please let us know if you have any follow up questions.

    Thanks.
