A customer recently sent the following question via email:
I was looking at your surveillance systems but I will need software to convert existing .dvr files to a format that can be read by a standard DVD player. Do you have any software that will convert the existing .dvr files from my older system to a format that can be read by my DVD player?
CCTV Camera Pros answer:
Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. You must use the software that came with your DVR to view and convert the video files that it exports. It depends on that software as to whether you can then convert the DVR video files to another format. Our software that is included with our stand alone DVRs as well as our PC based DVRs allows you to export to AVI file but only works with video files recorded by the units that the software was developed for. Unfortunately, it is not generic software that will convert any other DVR manufacturers video files to AVI or some other generic format.
That would be nice if there was a generic conversion utility out there, but I do not know of one for video surveillance files.
One of he most convenient systems to export a video to an AVI file (which is an easy file to then convert to any format you need) is our NUUO PC based DVRs.
Please take a look at this video to see how easy it is to search for surveillance video footage to be exported:
