A customer recently contacted CCTV Camera Pros with the following question:

I have been using Geovision surveillance systems for a while now. I have the opportunity to upgrade a system for the county government where I work. We currently have 128 CCTV cameras connected to analog surveillance VCRs. I want to upgrade to all of our VCRs to Geovision PC based DVRs and I want to connect three 60" LCD monitors to the system, where each will display a combination of camera views that may change over time. I want to use either GV-1480 or GV-900 DVR cards. Please let me know what other equipment I need.

    CCTV Camera Pros response:

Please see the below network diagram which illustrates how to accomplish your goals using Geovision.

    • You will have 4 Geovision DVRs, which can each be build with (1) GV-900-32 card or (2) GV-1480 cards
    • You will need a fifth PC running Geovision GV-Control Center software. This allow you to pull in the cameras from all 128 cameras connected to the 4 PCs
    • All 5 PCs will be connected to the same network using either a network router or switch.
    • The PC running the control center software needs to have 3
    • video cards so that it can connect to the 3 LCD monitors.
    • Each monitor can be setup to have its own unique digital matrix display.
