    CCTV Camera Pros has been asked several times if a router is required in order to view an IP camera from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

    The answer is yes, is order to view the live video of a network IP camera from an iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone, the camera must be connected to a network router, either hard wired with Ethernet cable or wireless / WIFI. The Apple device can then connect to the camera by also connecting to the same wireless router.

    If a user wants to access the camera video from outside of the local area network, then the user must setup port forwarding in order to allow access to the camera from the Internet. More information on setting up port forwarding for security cameras and DVRs can be found here:

    Thanks for the information. can i access the ip camera with devices other than apple?
