How to Convert DVR & NVR AVI Files to MP4

This is a brief write up that goes over converting an .avi video file to a .mp4 using Video Online Converter

With most DVRs / NVRs on the market, the standard video format for video export is .avi. The exported avi files typically require video codecs that will only allow the user to play the video on Windows Media Player. This is an issue for some especially Mac / Apple users since Windows Media Player is only available for Windows OS. In this write up we will be going over converting your DVR / NVR and or IP Cameras avi video to mp4, so that you can play them on media players such as VLC , Real Player, Quick Time Player etc.

1. Go to https://video.online-convert.com/convert-to-mp4

2. Now you can simply drag the avi file into the highlighted field (shown below) or you can select the “CHOOSE FILES” button to browse your computer for the video file.

3. Click “START CONVERSION”

NOTE: When converting the .avi video files I left all of the Video and Audio settings at the default / blank . I simply selected the .avi I wanted to convert and clicked “START CONVERSION”.

The conversion will start and the mp4 video file will download automatically once finished.

I have tested this converter with our iDVR-PRO DVRs and Viewtron DVRS/ NVRs and IP cameras, it works well and allowed me to play the .mp4 video on every media player I have tested so far.
