A customer contacted us with the following questions related to choosing the best surveillance camera to mount outdoors near the ocean:

I have a beach house on the Gulf of Mexico. I have a wireless security monitoring system monitored by a company from a remote call center. Basically a motion detector system and some contact closures.

I want to add remote monitoring of my own using an iPhone 4. I have ATT DSL service, along with an Apple Time Capsule wireless router.

I would like to have two devices that do the monitoring that can be seen on the iPhone, one interior and the other exterior. I am concerned about corrosion from the salt air for the exterior system.

    Do you have some suggestions?

CCTV Camera Pros suggested the following solution:

Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. The exterior camera near the Ocean should definitely be a high quality weatherproof camera. Vandal dome cameras tend to hold up better because everything is enclosed really well. Please take a look at this vandal dome camera. It is IP67 weatherproof rated which will hold up well in the harsh climate near the ocean and salt in the air:

For your interior, please take a look at this interior dome camera:

If you connect both of these camera to this 4 channel video server, you can access your cameras from your iPhone or iPad with the free app that is included:

Please let me know what you think and if you have any questions.

    Sincerely.
