We recently had a customer inquire about Zavio IP cameras ability to allow recorded surveillance video to be played back on a Mac PC. This customer only uses Mac PCs and wanted to confirm that the video which Zavio cameras record to a shared network drive can be accessed and played back from Macintosh computers.

CCTV Camera Pros tested and confirmed that the video that Zavio IP cameras records directly to a network drive or the video recorder to an SD card (for Zavio cameras that have an SD slot) can be played back by Mac by following these steps.

    1. Download and install the VLC media player on your Mac. It can be downloaded here:

      https://download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-Player/3000-2139_4-10210434.html

    2. Using the Finder application browse to the network location of the recorded video files from your Mac PC.
    3. Right click on one of the .AVI files and associate that file type with the VLC player.
    4. Double click on any of the video files to play it from your Mac.
