A customer recently inquired about displaying video to multiple monitors throughout his office and warehouse using an iDVR-PRO16 CCTV video surveillance DVR.
There are multiple video output options on the iDVR-PRO to accommodate additional monitors:
1. Standard VGA output will show a 16 ch. grid display of all channels by default and is usually considered the primary video output. This signal can also be split using a VGA splitter / amplifier and VGA cables for multiple monitors. VGA monitors (PC monitors) are the most widely available and affordable.
2. Composite video output will use standard RG-59 or RG-6 coaxial cable and will duplicate the primary VGA display (16 ch. grid view by default). This is a good option if the monitor is mounted far away (25 ft. or more) from the DVR. You can use a BNC splitter / amplifier to BNC monitors or BNC to VGA converters.
3. BNC Spot monitor would be cabled with coax, the same as option 2 above, but is fully programmable as to which channels are displayed. Regardless of the primary VGA display.
4. Individual video loop out on each single channel allows for a single camera to be displayed on a monitor by itself. Also coax / BNC. Multiple loop outs could also be combined with a multiplexer to show a custom grid or sequential view of desired cameras.
