If you need to set a Viewtron IP camera to a new static IP address or set it back to DHCP mode, you can use the Viewtron network configuration tool to help you. You can download the Viewtron IP installer tool for Mac or Windows here. This is helpful in cases where the camera may be stuck on a static IP address that is out of range of your local area network for example.

It this example, our Viewtron IP camera is set to a static IP address that is out of range of the network that I want to install it on.

So, I set my laptop to a static IP address temporarily. If you do not know how to do this, just search for “Setup Static IP address of Mac” or “Setup Static IP address of Windows”.

Next, connect the Viewtron IP camera directly into the laptops Ethernet port. IN order to do this, you either need to power the camera with an optional 12V power supply or you can use a PoE injector. You can also connect the IP camera to a PoE switch, and connect your laptop to the same PoE switch.

Once the IP camera is connected either directly to your laptop or to the same network switch as your laptop, open the Viewtron IP installer tool.

    IP Camera Network Search Tool

When the IP installer tool opens, it will automatically search the network for all Viewtron IP cameras.

    1. Select the IP camera buy clicking on it. That will populate the modify network parameters.
    2. Now you can change the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway IP.
    3. Enter the password for the camera. If you factory reset your camera, the default password is: 123456
    4. Click on the modify button.

Please note, if you prefer to set the IP camera back to DHCP mode, instead of assigning a static IP address. You could temporally set the camera to a static IP address that is in the same range as the IP address that you set your laptop to, and access the camera’s settings via a web browser on your laptop.

You can then access the network settings of the camera and set the camera to “Obtain an IP address automatically”. DHCP mode.
