Cold Weather Security Cameras

A customer recently contacted me who was looking for cold weather rated security cameras for his home in north western United States. He was looking for 4 cold weather rated IP cameras and a 4 channel security recorder. This is the recommendation that I gave him.

Our Viewtron IP cameras are enclosed in IP66 and IP67 weatherproof housings, depending on the model, that are rated for cold weather.

My house is in Summit County, Colorado. It sits at 9400 feet, with extremely harsh winters. I have been testing several IP66 and IP67 rated Viewtron IP cameras. They have been installed on the house for more than a year and they are holding up great through all seasons. They have never become foggy and there is no signs of any corrosion or weathering.

These are the models that I have on my house. They are my favorites because of the active deterrent alarm functions that are built into them. I have an entire perimeter setup around my house that detects people and lets me know when someone is on my property.

All of our Viewtron security cameras are in the same housing builds, so all models are rated for harsh weather climates, except for the first camera on this page, which is an indoor only wireless IP camera.

If you ever want to expand beyond 4 cameras, you should consider a larger recorder now, as it is cheaper to upgrade now rather than replace the recorder later *if* you want to expand your system.
