A security system installer contacted CCTV Camera Pros looking for a solution to broadcast the surveillance video from a CCTV camera positioned at a front door to TV monitors in six different apartments.
Here is the conversation and recommendation from CCTV Camera Pros.
Installer: I have a customer that has 6 apartments in there building. They would like to install one camera at the front door that would allow all 6 tenants to view the front door from their own personal TV set they have in their apartment. Can you tell me what items I need to order to achieve this.
CCTV Camera Pros: Thank You for contacting me. Unless you can run an additional coax cable to each tenants apartment, this would require and RF modulator which we do not supply because we did not find them to be reliable in the past. Is running a cable possible of were you looking to leverage the existing cable?
Installer: Yes, I will be able to get a separate coax cable to each apartment.
CCTV Camera Pros: Here is a list of materials that you will need:
1 CCTV camera – I recommend our DPRO-AS600. It provides an excellent picture, can be ceiling or wall mounted, and is tamper / vandal proof.
1 CCTV video splitter that can take the signal from the CCTV camera and split it 8 times.
At least one spool of RG59 coax cable and all of the connectors to attach to the camera, splitter, and TVs. This kit has the cable connectors, and tools that you will need. We can provide some RCA conenctors for the TVs also.
Here are the F to RCA connectors that you can use on the TV end of the cable runs.
Here is a diagram that explains the wiring and setup further.
