    Hello all.

I'm having trouble configuring a DVR for remote viewing. I'm not exactly sure what to put in the network fields in the DVRs configuration menu. This is what I have:

    Code:
    IP ADDRESS: 71.242.244.103
    SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
    GATEWAY: 192.168.1.1 -OR- 71.242.244.1
    DNS: 192.168.1.15 -OR- 71.242.0.12

My ISP provided me with a static ip address, it's default gateway, and it's DNS Primary/Secondary.

My DVR is connected via ethernet to a modem/router combo and I'm not sure what I should put in the fields above in order to access it over WAN. I'm mostly concerned with what to put in the GATEWAY and DNS fields.

I also read up that I should assign a local ip address to my dvr (disable DHCP) for when I forward the ports needed (3100 and 9000) no errors will occur later on. However, even though my DVR is hooked up to my router it does not come up as a connected device.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

It looks like your using an external IP ADDRESS for your DVR instead of a Local IP address ex 192.168.1.103.

The gateway and the DNS should match which type of IP address the Device is using.

    TRY

    IP ADDRESS: 71.242.244.103

    SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0

    GATEWAY: 71.242.244.1

    DNS: 71.242.0.12

    OR

    IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.103

    SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0

    GATEWAY: 192.168.1.1

    DNS: 192.168.1.15

TO CHECK WHAT YOUR SETTINGS ARE GOTO:

    START>RUN>CMD>ipconfig/all

    you should learn something there.
