  • How do I export video from a Viewtron NVR / DVR when I already know the time range and cameras I need?

    Use Search & Backup on the recorder, pick the By Time tab, set the backup window, choose the cameras, then save the clip to a USB drive as AVI or MP4 (not Private). Play the exported file on a PC with VLC media player.

    1. Open Search & Backup

    On the NVR / DVR local monitor:

    1. Click Start (the grid icon).
    2. Select Search and Backup.

    2. Set the backup time and cameras

    1. Open the By Time tab at the top.
    2. Click Set Backup Time and enter the Start and End times.
    3. Click the + button in the blank Picture slots on the right and select the cameras you want to export.
    4. Click Backup.

    3. Save to USB as AVI or MP4

    When the Record Backup window opens:

    1. Select your USB storage device under Device Name.
    2. Set Format to AVI or MP4 (do not leave it on Private if you want to play the file on a computer).
    3. Click Backup.

    4. Play the exported video in VLC

    Plug the USB thumb drive into a computer with VLC media player installed (free download). Right-click the exported video file, choose Open with, then VLC media player.
