    Answer
Infrared security cameras, such as the BIPRO-540L4 use LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) to illuminate an area using infrared light. A photocell is used to sense the light level in the environment where the camera is located and turn the LEDs on when light levels are low and off when light levels are high enough to where the infrared capability of the camera is not needed.

LEDs generally have a life expectancy of 25,000 to 50,000 hours. So, if we assume that the IRs will on for 12 hours per day, they can be expected to last between 5.7 and 11.4 years.
