Adjusting the IP Address of your Viewtron IP Cameras

  • This guide covers the common ways to view and change the IP address on a Viewtron IP camera: Using the Viewtron IP Tool, Using Advanced IP Scanner & the camera’s WebUI, and (when needed) temporarily setting your laptop to a static IP if your IP camera is out of range.

    1. Using the Viewtron IP Tool

Download the Viewtron IP installer / network configuration tool for Mac or Windows. Install and open it on a computer that is on the same local network as the camera (or connected as described in the out-of-range section at the bottom of this page).

When the IP Tool opens, it automatically searches the network for Viewtron IP cameras.

    1. Select the IP camera by clicking on it. That populates the modify network parameters.
    2. Change the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway IP as needed.
    3. Enter the password for the camera. If you factory reset the camera, the default password is: 123456
    4. Click the Modify button.

You can assign a static IP, or use the steps below to open the camera WebUI and switch the camera to DHCP (“Obtain an IP address automatically”).

If the Viewtron IP Tool does not list your camera, you can use Advanced IP Scanner (Windows) as a backup discovery method following the steps below:

    2. Using Advanced IP Scanner

    1. Download and install Advanced IP Scanner from the publisher’s site, then run a scan of your local subnet (for example 192.168.1.1-254).
    2. Look for your Viewtron camera by searching “58:5B” in the search bar, and note the IP addresses shown
    3. Open a browser and log in to the camera WebUI by using its’ IP address.

Advanced IP Scanner finds devices on the network; it does not replace the Viewtron IP Tool for applying Viewtron-specific network changes.

Once you know the camera IP and can reach it in a browser:

    1. Open the Config tab and select Network -> TCP/IP
    2. Choose a static IP and enter the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway that match your LAN, or choose to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
    3. Save/apply the settings. The camera may reboot or drop the browser session; reconnect using the new IP if you set a static address.

    3. Camera IP is out of range of your network

If the Viewtron IP camera is stuck on a static IP that is outside your local network range, put your laptop on a temporary static IP in that same range so the IP Tool (or WebUI) can reach it.

Set your laptop to a static IP address temporarily. If you do not know how, search for “Setup Static IP address of Mac” or “Setup Static IP address of Windows”.

Connect the Viewtron IP camera directly to the laptop Ethernet port. Power the camera with a 12V power supply or a PoE injector. You can also connect the camera to a PoE switch and connect the laptop to the same switch. The same static IP and PoE injector approach is how you connect an IP camera directly to an HDMI decoder with no router.

Just like in section 1, open the Viewtron IP Tool and change the camera IP into your LAN range (or open the WebUI and set DHCP), then return your laptop to its normal network settings.
