doubledark,
Thank you for your post. I wrote an article on how to use an IP camera for time lapse using a Zavio IP camera. I tested this setup on our Mac computer here. Zavio cameras work great on Mac.
Here is a link to the article and setup instructions:
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/security-cameras/ip-camera-time-lapse-photography.html
Here is a link to the HD box IP camera that I used for testing:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/HD-Surveillance-Camera-p/zavio-f7210.htm
Here is a link to an outdoor weatheroproof camera that works exactly the same way:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/HD-Security-Camera-p/zavio-b7210.htm
These are both 2 megapixel 1080p resolution cameras. I am sorry that Zavio does not make 3 megapixel at this time. Will 1080p resolution work for your project?
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Sincerely.
-Mike Haldas
Mike,
thank you for your reply.
Is there any 3/4/5mp camera solution that can be used ?
cheers
doubledark,
Actually, yes. Geovision IP cameras also support the ability to take snapshot images and upload them via FTP. You can find many 3 megapixel models here:

Please let me know if I can help further.
Thanks.

That's an excellent guide!
Do you know of a guide to triggering a Geovision IP Camera to email or ftp a snapshot once a day, or at fixed intervals for time-lapse?
I'm trying to do it, but not having much luck. I'm using a GV-FD120-D.
Roger
Hello Rogerpre,
Unfortunately GeoVision cameras might not work for this application. GeoVision cameras cannot send an image automatically to an FTP. The FTP function on the GeoVision cameras can only be triggered by motion events.
Thanks James
