A customer recently contacted CCTV Camera Pros on chat and was asking about the compatibility of the iPhone with the IRS dual codec DVRs.

    iPhone User:

i have a irs dual codec dvr can i remote view on my iphone?

    Customer Support:

Hi Eric, unfortunately the IRS dual codec DVR is not yet compatible with the iPhone and I do not have an answer from our manufacturer if it will be supported. Another option for people is to add a video server for any channels they want to view from the iPhone. These are two options:

    iPhone User:

go to website and it will show me what to do?

    Customer Support:

both of these videos servers can be used with any CCTV camera. They turn the analog signal into an IP signal (like an IP cameras). Then you can access the camera from the safari web browser in your iPhone or you can use our FREE iPhone app:

    iPhone User:

whats is the free app called

    Customer Support:

The iphone app is called icamviewer and can be downloaded here for FREE: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icamviewer/id346469891?mt=8

    iPhone User:

thank you it will walk me threw?

    Customer Support:

If you ever want to see a demo of the iPhone app, download the app and get back in touch with us on chat. We can give you login information to connect to a camera that uses one of those videos servers. it is very easy to setup.

    iPhone User:

    i just download it

    Customer Support:

OK, launch the app and click on the Config button on the LiveCams screen.

Let me know when you are ready for the settings.

    iPhone User:

then click the Checkbox in the upper right.

wait a few seconds and you should see a live camera. If the image appears very small, close the app, then restart it. The image should appear normal size. This is a small bug we are working on with the first load of a live camera stream in the app.

    Customer Support:

When you restart the app and you see the camera view, tilt your iPhone long ways to see a large camera view.

    Customer Support:

Do you see the camera live?

    iPhone User:

    yes with the test

    Customer Support:

great, when you rotate the iPhone, does the camera go to the larger view to fill the screen?

    iPhone User:

    yes

    Customer Support:

excellent. That is one of our CCTV cameras that is connected to a similar model DVR to the IRS dual codec, and is also connected to the Zavio video server so that the camera can be viewed from our iPhone app.

    Customer Support:

what do you think of the quality?

    iPhone User:

great quality. so do i need to find the video sever thats on my system

    Customer Support:

The dual codec IRS DVR does not have one unfortunately.

We also have a new stand alone DVR that does support iPhone access without the use of the additional video servers.

    iPhone User:

ok how much does that DVR cost?

    Customer Support:

You can see the stand alone DVRs that are iPhone compatible here: https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/H264-Stand-Alone-DVRs-s/358.htm

    iPhone User:

ok thank you. I will be in touch
