A customer contacted CCTV Camera Pros today and asked the following question about wiring a PTZ camera:
Can you please explain what cable is needed to wire a CCTV PTZ camera?
CCTV Camera Pros response:
There are 3 sets of wires used with traditional Analog CCTV PTZ Cameras. RG-59 or RG6 coaxial for video, 18~24 AWG copper wire pair for power and another 18~24 AWG copper wire pair for RS485 / PTZ commands. I recommend RG-59 Siamese for video and power. You can just use everyday doorbell wire for the RS485 communication.
If you employ IP PTZ Cameras, everything (video, power and PTZ control) can be handled with a single CAT-5 Cable.
I have provided links to the relevant products on our website.
