  • How do I add a Reolink WIFI doorbell camera to record on a Viewtron NVR using ONVIF—without losing the Reolink app doorbell features?

Here is the doorbell camera setup scenario that many customers want.

Someone walks up to the front door, presses the button, and you want two things at once: a live doorbell ring plus two-way talk on your phone, and continuous video recording on your security NVR like any other camera on the system.

CCTV Camera Pros does not sell a Viewtron doorbell camera or  WIFI doorbell camera yet. However, we have customers that pair a Reolink video doorbell with a Viewtron NVR all the time: the Reolink app handles real-time ring notifications and 2-way talk; the Viewtron NVR records the stream over ONVIF like any other IP camera.

The same ONVIF path works for other Reolink cameras on a Viewtron NVR / DVR—not only the doorbell. Most newer Reolink models ship with ONVIF (and often the web UI) disabled until you turn on HTTP, RTSP, and ONVIF in the Reolink app.

Prefer the WiFi Reolink on your LAN so the Reolink app keeps its doorbell features. Plugging a PoE Reolink straight into the NVR’s PoE ports can knock out a lot of that app-managed functionality. We can help you get the camera onto the Viewtron NVR; but for the Reolink doorbell camera setup, you may still need Reolink support.

Reolink lists ONVIF on the WiFi doorbell specifications. Please check th spec of the exact model that you are considering to be sure that it is ONVIF compliant.

    1. Set up the Reolink in the Reolink app first

Out of the box, the camera is usually not reachable via a web browser, and ONVIF is off. Add the camera in the Reolink app (QR code scan is the usual path), get it on WiFi / your LAN, and confirm you can open live view and doorbell features in the app before you touch the NVR.

    2. Enable HTTP, RTSP, and ONVIF in the Reolink app

    In the Reolink app:

DEVICE SETTINGS > NETWORK > ADVANCED — enable HTTP, RTSP, and ONVIF.

Reolink app Advanced network settings enable HTTP and RTSP for ONVIF on WIFI doorbell camera

Leave those services on. Until HTTP / ONVIF are enabled, the Viewtron NVR will not see the camera as an ONVIF device—even if the Reolink app itself works fine.

    3. Manually add the camera on the Viewtron NVR (ONVIF)

Once ONVIF is enabled on the Reolink, add it by IP on the Viewtron NVR.

    Path:

START > SETTINGS (or FUNCTION PANEL from the web UI) > ADD CAMERA under CAMERA > MANUALLY ADD tab.

    Fill in:

    • ADDRESS — camera IP address on your LAN
    • PORT — 80
    • USERNAME — camera username
    • PASSWORD — camera password
    • PROTOCOL — ONVIF

Then Add / Apply and confirm the channel comes up on live view and recording.

Viewtron NVR manually add Reolink camera via ONVIF port 80

    4. Quick checklist

    • Reolink WIFI doorbell (or other Reolink IP cam) on the LAN for app ring + 2-way talk.
    • Reolink App: DEVICE SETTINGS > NETWORK > ADVANCED — enable HTTP + RTSP + ONVIF.
    • Viewtron NVR: START > SETTINGS (or web FUNCTION PANEL) > CAMERA > ADD CAMERA > MANUALLY ADD — IP, port 80, camera creds, protocol ONVIF.
    • NVR records like any other ONVIF camera; doorbell ring / talk stays in the Reolink app.
    • We assist with the NVR connection; deep camera troubleshooting may need Reolink.
