A customer recently contacted me with the following question related to surveillance software with built in object counting.

I am looking for a system that will count and read out the number of railroad cars passing an observation window from our Depot Museum. The idea would be to have vistiors count the cars and compare their results with the readout from the system. The tracks are 30-15 feet away from the building and the trains pass by at 45 mph. Can your system do this?

    Here was my reply:

Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. I am sorry that we do not carry a system nor am I aware of anything on the market with the ability to automatically count the number of railroad cars on a passing train.

Although there is object counting capability built into the NUUO surveillance systems that we carry, the NUUO surveillance software designed to detect the number of individual human subjects that pass through a zone such as a retail store entrance or exit. This would not work the same for a series of rail cars.

The video on this page demonstrates the NUUO object counting function.

I am sorry that we did not have a solution for you.

Please let me know if we can help in the future.
