A customer of ours recently contacted us and is interested in purchasing a Vivotek IP7161 2 megapixel camera. Their questions are in regards to the camera's night vision capability and operation.
What exactly does removable IR-cut Filter for Day & Night Function mean? Does this mean that the IR cut filter automatically and mechanically moves into place when the light level goes below a certain level? or does it mean that the IR cut filter can manually be removed or added to adjust how well the camera performs in low light?
Can the IP7161 camera be used with IR illuminators effectively like you can with day night CCTV cameras?
1) The IR-cut Filter is usually engaged and disengaged according to the lighting levels when set to "auto" mode. You can also manually engage or disengage by setting to "day" or "night" mode respectively.
2) Yes, you can use an enclosure with IR Illuminators with the IP7161. You may use Vivotek's AE2000 enclosure for this purpose.
