I recently purchages the idvr-e8 to replace an older system. Everything got here quickly and I love all the new features of this device! The only problem that I seem to be having is getting the e-mail notifications to work.
I was trying to use my business SMTP server settings but it wont allow me to enter the whole address! it also does this with the userid field as well!
I tried using Gmails smtp server as well and could not get that to work. It doesnt seem to be sending out an e-mail at all.
I have a schedule setup for one camera and have it activated all day so i can test this out. Might there be another setting that I am missing? Is there any way to enter a longer address?
Once setup I would suggest using the Default SMTP server. This utilizes the built in SMTP server of the iDVR-E. Please see below instructions on how to configure the Default SMTP server.
1. Log into the Network Men on the iDVR-E
2. On the Email tab select Default.
3. Now type in the email address or addresses you would like to send the alert out to.
