A customer recently contacted CCTV Camera Pros with the following question.

Question: We have purchased the iDVR-PRO8 and we have it plugged into a desk monitor. We would like a larger monitor as well, Is it possible to have 2 monitors working at the same time off this unit? One being connected via the HDMI and one connected to the VGA output? Will they work simultaneously?

Answer: Unfortunately you can not run both HDMI and VGA simultaneously. It is one or the other. However the iDVR-PRO8 does have two spot monitor outputs you can use. The iDVR-PRO16 has four spot monitor outputs.

NOTE: The Spot monitors are BNC type connections. You can convert this to RCA using our BNC Female to RCA Male Connector or it can also be converted to VGA using our BNC to VGA Video Converter

NOTE 2: The spot monitor outputs only allow for a single camera on screen at a time scrolling one by one. The interval at which they scroll through is configurable. You can also configure which cameras you would like to appear on the spot monitor outputs.

Just an update on this post. Our new iDVR-PRO DVRs do allow you to use dual monitors.

You can find more info on the iDVR-PRO DVRs at the below link
