  • Viewtron AI cameras with 2-way audio (such as the IP-180-4D and IP-AX8D) allow you to create custom audio alarms.

    Mike has a wonderful guide covering the setup process for custom audio alarms here.

    However, if you are using one of these cameras with the Viewtron VT-NVR-4, you may find that you are unable to select the “Add” button in the Audio section.

    In order to use custom audio alarms with the Viewtron VT-NVR-4, you have to directly import the audio through your PC using the camera’s WebUI.

    To do this, you will need a PoE Network Switch. We recommend our PoE-SW54.

    Step 1: Find the camera on your network

    Download the Viewtron IPTool from our website (here’s a direct link for the installer).

    Your devices and their IP addresses will show up in the box. It may take a few seconds for the devices to appear.

    If your devices do not show up, you may need to use Advanced IP Scanner.

    Here’s a download for the Advanced IP Scanner tool. When you open the webpage, the download should start automatically.

    Once you download & open the program, press the SCAN button to run a network scan. This usually takes a minute or two, so wait for the green bar at the bottom to complete.
    Then, you can search on the right side of the screen for MAC addresses beginning with 58:5B or 00:18. These will be the Viewtron cameras on your network.
    You can then enter that IP address into a web browser. The camera’s default username & password is admin / 123456.
    If you intend on leaving your Camera plugged into the switch, follow this step. Otherwise, skip to step 3.

    Step 2: Set your camera to a static IP

    We always recommend setting your camera’s IP address to static when using them with a switch on your network
    Once logged in, go to Config -> Network -> TCP/IP and enter the IP address that is listed on the top of your browser. The gateway is usually will follow your IP address but typically ends in .1 (comcast/spektrum) or .254 (at&t)
    Then you can Save the configuration.

    Step 3: Upload your custom audio

    Now, go to Config -> System -> Storage and Format the SD card. wait for the State to show as Normal.

    Next, go to Alarm -> Audio Alarm. Set the warning voice to Customize and you will see the Upload Audio section appear. You can then select your file (must be WAV format) from your PC.

    Set the voice in the Voice Configuration section to the name of the custom audio. Then, Save. You can test the audio using the Listen button in the Voice Record section.

    Step 4: Configure Custom Audio in the recorder

    Now, you can go to the recorder and go to Settings -> AI/Event -> Audio. Your custom audio will appear here.
