Can I use the Viewtron IP Decoder and Viewtron IP Encoder directly with each other?

Home Forums Viewtron Security Camera Systems Support HDMI / IP Encoder Decoder Can I use the Viewtron IP Decoder and Viewtron IP Encoder directly with each other?

  • You don’t actually need a network to utilize the Viewtron IP Encoder and IP Decoder. The Encoder and Decoder have the ability to talk directly with each other, over a single Cat5e Ethernet cable. This effectively turns it into an HDMI-over-Cat5e solution.

There are only a few steps you need to take in order to utilize this feature:

    1. Plug the Viewtron Encoder into a network that has any Windows Computer on it. You do not need the Decoder right now.

    2. Download the Viewtron Decoder Network Scan Tool on a Windows PC so that you can locate the decoder on your network.

    3. Unzip the file on your PC and run the tool. In Windows 11, this is done by right-clicking and using Extract All. The network scanner will automatically search the network for all Viewtron Encoders & Decoders.

    4. Double-click the Lan IP of the Encoder to log into it through the webpage. The default username is admin and the default password is admin.

    5. Once on the WebUI, go to System -> Network and disable DHCP. Then, scroll down and click Apply.

    6. The Encoder will prompt you to restart it. Unplug the Encoder from the network and from power.

    7. Plug the Encoder & Decoder into power.

    8. Plug the Encoder and Decoder into each other with a Cat5e Ethernet cable.

    You’re done!
