Follow these setup instructions to setup the Viewtron IP camera to TV decoder (model IP-HDMI-D4) to connect 1-4 Viewtron IP cameras to a standard HDMI TV for live view.

IP Security Camera to TV Decoder

Please note that these instructions assume that you already have the Viewtron IP camera(s) that you want to display connected to your network, or that you have your Viewtron IP cameras connected to the PoE ports on a Viewtron NVR.  Please refer to the below network diagrams to see how to use connect your IP camera to TV with and without a DVR.

Direct Network Connection to IP Camera

In this installation setup, the IP camera is not connected to the PoE ports on an NVR. The IP to HDMI decoder will communicate directly with the IP camera over the network.

Access your Viewtron IP Camera is a Web Browser

The default user ID is: admin. The default password is: 123456. After you login, do the following.

    1. Click on the Config tab in the upper right.
    2. Click on the Port link in the Network section.

    IP camera RTSP URL

    Next.

    1. Click on the RTSP link.
    2. Check the Enable check box
    3. Check the Allow anonymous login checkbox
    4. Note the RTSP stream Addresses URLs where profile1 is the highest resolution stream.

It is recommended to use profile1 if you are connecting your IP to HDMI decoder to only 1 IP camera for a full screen view.

These are the RTSP streams from the above example where the IP address of the IP camera is 192.168.0.158.

And if we did not check the “Allow anonymous login” checkbox, we must include the IP camera’s userID and password on the URL like this.

    IP to HDMI Decoder Setup

    1. Connect the IP-HDMI-D4 to the same network that your IP camera(s)  is connected to.
    2. Connect the power supply of the decoder to a power source.
    3. Connect the HDMI output of the decoder to the HDMI input of your TV.
    4. By default the decoder uses DHCP, so it will be assigned an IP address by your network router.

Download the Viewtron Encoder / Decoder Network Scan Tool

    1. Download the Decoder Network Scan Tool on a Windows PC so that you can locate the decoder on your network.
    2. Unzip that file on your PC and run the network scan tool.
    3. The network scanner will search your network for all Viewtron Encoders and Decoders.

    ip network scan

You can see in the above screenshot, an IP decoder was found and the tool displays the LAN (local area network) IP address of it.

Access the IP Decoder in a Web Browser

The default login userid is: admin. The default password is: admin.

    add RTSP stream IP decoder

Once you login to the decoder, click on the Stream address setting link on the right. Then do the following.

    1. By default, the number of channels is set to 1. Keep this setting if you are connecting just one IP camera to the decoder
    2. Add the RTSP stream of the IP camera into the Channel1 address field.
    3. Enable Audio if your IP cameras has a microphone and you want to hear audio.
    4. Click Apply.

If you are adding additional IP cameras to the decoder so that your TV can display multiple video streams, change the Play number of channels dropdown to 2, 3, or 4 cameras and add the RTSP stream for each camera.

Your TV will now display a live view of your IP camera(s) when you switch to the HDMI input that the decoder is connected to.
