Very basic question: My home is serviced by COMCAST cable – phone and internet. If I want to view cameras recording to a DVR (yet to be selected) do I not need a connecting cable from the DVR to either the modem or wireless router??

No where have I read about such a linked requirement?

    Hello,

Yes, your DVR needs to be connected to your modem, router, or network switch via a cat-5 Ethernet cable.

Please take a look at these setup instructions for our Viewtron DVRs.

    Thanks.

    David,

No, any modem should work as long as either of the following is true.

    1) The modem you are using is also a router and allows you to setup port forwarding rules.

    2) You are separately using router and the modem is bridged to allow all traffic to be passed through and managed by the router.

Please let us know if we can help further.
