I am having a heck of a time getting my new Vivotek VS7100 video encoder to e-mail me. I went to the manufacture site and they said the SMTP server needs to be the RECEIVER's SMTP. I have tried it a dozen different ways with my SMTP and with Gmail's but still no luck. Do you think it's a port or authentication issue?
Can you guys please help this customer? Please see the above original post. Does the VS7100 allow you to adjust the SMTP port to use with gmail? Has the email alert function for the VS7100 been testing by Vivotek using Gmail? If not, can you please schedule a test and document the setup process?
To use email notification with the VS7100, please use an external SMTP server that uses port 25 and doesn't support SSL authentication. VS7100 does not support SSL authentication and the SMTP port 25 is unable to be changed. Gmail uses port 465 and SSL authentication.
You can enter a Gmail address into the recipient email address, but cannot use Gmail to send email with the VS7100.
Some of our newer products do support SSL authentication and the ability to change the SMTP port. (e.g. IP7161, VS8102, etc.)
Thank you for your support of Vivotek products.
