Live Streaming on Facebook with a Viewtron IP Camera

Watch this video to see a demo of live streaming on Facebook using a Viewtron IP camera. The live video is also embedded on our website. This service that we are testing to enable this is working out very well so far. It is called IPCamLive. It supports embedding video on your own web page, Facebook live streaming, and YouTube live streaming.

Here are all of the Viewtron IP cameras that support streaming. You will also find a live stream embedded on the webpage.

Video Transcript

Hi, everyone. Mike, from CCTV Camera Pros here. In this video, I’m going to demonstrate a live streaming on Facebook using an IP camera, and specifically, I’m going to use one of our Viewtron IP cameras, that big dome that you see behind me, to do it. I’ll also show you that at the same time that I’m going to stream live on Facebook, I also have the live streaming embedded on our website. Stick around after the demos and I’ll explain a little bit more about how we’re doing this.

Okay. So I switched over to my web browser now, and I’m on CCTV Camera Pros page on Facebook, and here’s the embedded live stream on our Facebook page. I’m going to expand, so the screen is bigger and then expand again to go full screen. Now, I’m going to wait a couple seconds here because after the stream buffers for a few seconds, the resolution gets better. This camera is actually a 4 megapixel camera, but Facebook is limited to 1080p resolution. So there’s the 1080p resolution there now. It just takes a few seconds for that buffer to kick in and then you can see the high definition video. When I press escape, it goes out of full screen mode and escape again back to the page.

Next, I’m going to switch over to our website, actually our blog, to show you that at the same time we’re streaming on Facebook, I also have this video embedded on our website. So again, I’m going to expand full screen and then give it a couple seconds to buffer so that we can see the full high definition stream, which there, you could see it there. That’s 1080p resolution streaming there. And then when I’m done and I want to break out of full screen, I press escape on the keyboard, and that brings me back to the embed on the website.
In order to enable live streaming on Facebook and also on our website the way you just saw in that demo, CCTV Camera Pros partnered with a service called IPCamLive, which basically can take an RTSP stream from an IP camera or from a recorder. Our Viewtron DVRs and NVR support this as well. They take that raw RTSP stream, buffer it and put it in a format that’s needed for website embedding, Facebook streaming, and also YouTube streaming. It may sound a little technical to set up, but it’s really not. And if you use Viewtron IP camera supplied from CCTV Camera Pros, the techs here can give you a hand in setting it all up.

If you have any questions about any of this, feel free to reach out to me anytime. I can be reached at mike@cctvcamerapros.net.
