Security Camera with Alarm Light, Active Deterrence Audio Warning

CCTV Camera Pros recently helped a home owners association in Palm Beach County, Florida that is having problems with loitering and vandalism in their pool area after hours.  They are now using this Viewtron IP-AX8D alarm security camera with light and warning audio message to let people know that the pool area is closed and that the area is monitored by a security camera system.

The main problem area are the restrooms, so this is the first location where we installed an active deterrence alarm camera. The dome-style camera is mounted to the ceiling in the corridor that leads to the restrooms.

Here is how the active deterrence works using the IP camera’’s built-in alarm light, alarm speaker, built-in siren, and 2-way audio communication from the mobile app. The camera’s microphone allows security guards to intervene in real-time, enabling immediate communication and response to potential threats.

32 Channel IP Camera NVR

32 channel NVR

The HOA is using a Viewtron 32 channel NVR. They currently have 16 cameras installed and all of them are hard wired to the PoE ports on the back of the NVR using CAT6 network cable.

Intrusion Detection / Human Detection AI Software Setup

Using the NVR, we configured an intrusion zone on the Viewtron IP-AX8D. This is done with the USB mouse that is connected to the NVR and simply pointing and clicking on points of the video view to create an intrusion zone.

Custom Schedule for AI Software Intrusion Detection

Next, we setup a custom schedule for the AI software / intrusion detection to be enabled only after hours. The HOA’s pool area is closed from 8pm to 6am every day.

Human Detection Only

AI software human detection

We setup the camera’s AI software to only detect human objects in this area. Obviously motor vehicles and other vehicles are not applicable in this case, but the Viewtron AI software can also trigger alarms based on car and bicycle detection.

Intrusion Detection Alarm Settings

The Viewtron active deterrent alarm cameras can take more than one action when an intrusion event occurs. In this case, the IP camera and NVR are setup to take the following actions.

  1. Send a push notification to the property manager’s cell phone to let her know that someone is trespassing.
  2. Play the custom warning message over the IP camera’s speaker to let the intrudor know that the pool area is closed and they should leave.
  3. Turn on the IP camera’s alarm lights. The alternate red and blue.
  4. Trigger intrusion detection video recording on the NVR. The NVR bookmarks these intrusion events which makes it very easy to find them later when you want to play back the recorded video or export it.

Custom Warning Message

CCTV Camera Pros recorded a custom audio warning message for the HOA that is automatically played when an intrusion event occurs. Viewtron alarm cameras have several warning messages and audio alarm siren sounds built-in, but they also support the ability for customers to upload their own custom messages and alarm sounds. You can watch the above video and refer to this article on how-to upload custom alarm sounds to Viewtron IP cameras. These are the Viewtron alarm security camera models that support this feature.

Instant Alerts and Notifications

Instant Alerts and Notifications to Your Phone

security camera mobile app push notification alert

The security camera sends instant alerts and notifications to the Viewtron mobile phone app, keeping you informed of any after hours activity detected by the camera. With the camera’s built-in microphone, you can also hear what’s happening in real-time remotely. The alerts and notifications can be customized to suit your needs. Each type of event and camera can be individually configured for push notifications. In the case of this home owners association, the property manager only wants to be notified of activity detected by this camera during after hours.

In the above screenshot, you can see that the camera system sends a push notification on the left. When the user taps on the notification, they are given the option to view a real-time live view of the camera that detected the activity, or they can jump right to the video recording of the event. on the left, you can see the recorded video playback screen in the app (in portrait view). The property manager can also view the video in higher resolution landscape mode. Here is a video demo of push notifications sent by Viewtron security camera system. You can watch additional demo videos of the Viewtron mobile app here.

2-Way Audio Communication

Viewtron IP Camera with 2-Way Audio Communciation

In addition to the warning message that is automatically played when a human is detected in the pool bathroom area after hours, this IP camera also supports 2-way audio. When the property manager gets a push notification on the mobile app, she can press a button in the app to enable 2-way audio communication with the intruder. Hey guys, Mike from CCTV Camera Pros here. I’m helping one of the homeowners associations here in Palm beach county that has one of our Viewtron IP camera systems installed. Actually that dome Viewtron camera you see behind me, that’s one of our active deterrent alarm cameras. It has a built in speaker and a built in light to where if you set up an intrusion zone, you can have the light automatically come on and a warning message come on letting people know in this case that the pool area is closed and they’re not supposed to be here. The community here has a problem with, with teenagers coming in here after hours and, and loitering in the bathrooms and vandalizing. Obviously they can’t put cameras in the bathrooms. But the next best thing is to monitor this area right here, set up an intrusion zone and an after hours schedule to let anyone know that comes into this area that the pool area is closed and that they should leave. In addition to triggering that message and the light, the property manager is going to get a push notification on the mobile app to let her know when there are people in this area after hours.

So she’ll be able to log into the mobile app and see what’s going on. She’ll be able to even come over the speaker with the two way audio feature from the mobile app to also tell people that they need to leave, otherwise the police are going to be called or whatever action she’s going to take. So I’m going to log into the viewtron NVR that’s installed in the office and set up an intrusion zone here. I’m also going to set up a schedule so that only when intruders are detected in this area after hours that it’ll trigger that light and the warning message on that camera.

So I’m logged into the Viewtron NVR right now and the Viewtron AI camera with the alarm is that camera in the upper right, you can see it monitors the, this, the, the entrances to the restrooms in the pool area. And we’re going to go into settings first and then select AI event and then AI event again. And I’m going to select that alarm camera that’s monitoring that bathroom area. And we set up an intrusion zone. So you can see this polygon in front of the bathroom doors that I set up, that’s the intrusion zone. And then I did set up an after hours schedule for when the pool is closed. So basically after 8:00 at night and up until 5:00am in the morning is when this schedule for the alarm is going to be set. And then if I go into detection target, I only set it to humans.

Obviously there’s no motor vehicle traffic back here. And then the alarm is going to do four things. It’s going to send a push notification, it’s going to turn on the audio warning message, it’s going to turn on the alarm light, and it’s going to trigger a recording on that camera alarm recording. Once I click apply and click the X in the upper right, I’m back at the live view of the camera. And then if I click on this icon right here on the screen, it basically opens up this little window on the right to show anytime that AI object detection event occurred. And I’m going to film with the camera on my iPhone me entering this intrusion zone so I can record the audio and show you what the alarm light looks like. So when I penetrate that intrusion zone, the alarm is enabled and then the blue and red light is enabled on the camera and it plays that custom warning message letting the person know that the pool area is closed and that they should leave.

Guys, I hope this video has been helpful. I’m going to help this HOA here monitor this problem and tweak the system as needed. With the schedule the intrusion zones, we may add a few additional cameras in the rest of the pool area out there. Again, the goal is to let people know that the pool area is closed and that the area is under video surveillance. And we’re doing that with are our Viewtron active deterrent alarm cameras. If you have any questions about these Viewtron IP cameras, the Viewtron AI cameras, setting up the alarms, or anything, you can always email me directly. I can be reached at mike@cctvcamerapros.net.
