  • How do I play video from an SD card removed from a Viewtron IP camera?

The micro SD card is meant to stay in the camera. The best way to watch the recordings is over the network through the camera web UI. Only pull the card and use the Viewtron SD Player when you cannot reach the camera on the network.

    1. How do I play IP camera SD card video in the web UI?

Log into the camera web UI from a PC on the same network.

    1. Click Search at the top of the page.
    2. In the search panel, set the type dropdown to Record for video, or Picture for still images / snapshots.
    3. Set storage to SD Card if that option is shown.
    4. Select the Date you want. Days that have recordings are highlighted in red on the calendar.
    5. Set the time range if needed, then click the magnifying glass to run the search.
    6. Use the timeline and playback controls under the video window to scrub and play the clips.

    2. When should I use the Viewtron SD Player?

Use the Viewtron SD Player only when you cannot connect to the camera over the network and you need to read the card on a Windows PC.

Before you remove the micro SD card, log into the camera web UI and go to Config > Storage (under System) > Management, then click Eject. That helps protect the card and the recordings.

Download the Viewtron SD Player from our Viewtron software and apps page. Install or unzip it, insert the card into your PC (use a micro SD adapter if needed), open the player, pick the date, and play the events from the list.

    3. Can I leave the SD card in the camera?

Yes. Leave the card in the camera for normal recording and use Search in the web UI to play video. Pulling the card is the backup path when the camera is offline or you need the files on a PC with no network path to the camera.
