  • How do I set up Smart Motion Detection on a Viewtron hybrid DVR so I get realtime phone alerts for people and vehicles—without a flood of false alarms from trees, birds, and bugs?

By default, Viewtron hybrid DVRs are set for continuous (24/7 or scheduled) recording and can also flag general motion events. For phone alerts, we recommend Smart Motion Detection (SMD) instead of general motion. SMD only triggers an event / alert for a human and / or a vehicle (you can enable one or both). General motion triggers on almost any movement—trees, birds, bugs, headlights—which is why false alarms pile up.

These steps apply to Viewtron hybrid DVRs (BNC / HD camera channels with SMD).

    1. Set up Smart Motion Detection (recommended)

Use the video below to enable SMD and trigger an event / notification. This is the method we recommend so alerts are people / vehicle based instead of every pixel change.

    2. Enable the Push Server on the DVR

SMD can fire an event and you still get nothing on your phone if Push is off on the recorder.

On the DVR / NVR UI:

START > SETTINGS > AI / EVENT > PUSH (under Event Notification)

Make sure Push / Push Server is Enabled, then Apply. After you Apply, use Test and confirm you receive the test message on the phone.

Once this is on, you receive push messages for SMD motion events. Tap the message to open live view or the recorded event (depending on your app preference).

    3. Connect SuperLive Plus (if the phone is not linked yet)

If the SuperLive Plus app is not already connected to the DVR, add the recorder in the app first (serial / QR / P2P), then come back to push settings. Product overview: Security Camera Push Notification.

    4. Turn on push messages in SuperLive Plus

If you are not receiving notifications on the phone, open Push Settings for that device in SuperLive Plus and make sure both of these are ON:

    • Enable push message
    • Message Subscription (Manage Subscription)

Also confirm the phone’s iOS or Android system settings allow notifications for SuperLive Plus. If the DVR Push Server is enabled and the app toggles are on, walk into a camera with SMD people detection and wait a few seconds for a test push.
