180 Degree Camera: IR Night Vision Video Surveillance Demo
Check out the IR night vision video surveillance I recently recorded with the Viewtron 180 degree camera, model IP-180-4D. I recently installed this 180 IP camera at my house in the Rocky Mountains. The street where my house is located does not have any street lights on it and it is very dark up in this mountain area. It was a great place for me to test out the infrared night vision capability of the IP-180-4D.
Honestly, this is the best 180 degree outdoor security camera that I have ever testing in my 20 years in doing all of the product testing for CCTV Camera Pros. The 4K video resolution, AI software, alarm light, and security spotlight features are all outstanding.
180 Degree Camera Outdoor Installation
This is the location where I installed the 180 camera on the side of my garage. I chose to do a wall mount installation so that I could bring the view down low for a more straight on angle to see people and cars entering the driveway of the house.
Wall Installation with Junction Box
Here is a close-up of what the wall mount installation looks like. Please note that used the optional Viewtron VT-J302 security camera junction box to install the camera to this wood framed house. I always recommend using these when installing our Viewtron IP cameras outdoors.
Ceiling Mount Installation
Please note that this turret-style dome 180 camera also can be installed to a ceiling, with or without the optional junction box.
Infrared Night Vision with Built-in IR LEDs
Here is a snapshot image that I captured from the recorded video surveillance footage. All of the illumination that you see is from the camera’s built-in infrared LEDs. There is a small amount of ambient light from the next door neighbors house lights, but those appear much brighter than they really are in the image. 180 Degree Security Camera Features
In the above diagram, you can see the location of the camera’s infrared LEDs. Here are some additional features of the Viewtron IP-180-4D camera that are worth mentioning.
- Spotlight Camera Model with White LEDs: In addition to the IR night vision LEDs, this IP camera also has visible white light LEDs. These are optional to use. They can be configured to turn on, like a spotlight camera, when motion is detected by the camera
- Security Camera with Alarm Light: The alarm light is also optional to use. You may configure the flashing blue and red alarm light to turn on when the camera’s AI software detects an intrusion event from a human or vehicle object.
- Audio Microphone: The microphone can optionally be used to record audio surveillance. It can also be used for 2-way communication from the mobile app.
- Audio Alarm Speaker: The audio speaker can be used to sound alarm sirens or verbal audio warning messages when motion detection events occur. You may configure human detection and vehicle detection events with the camera’s AI software.

Hey guys, Mike from CCTV Camera Pros here. I did some IR night vision testing early this morning with our Viewtron 180 degree security camera that I have monitoring the front yard here in front of the house. And unlike a lot of videos that I make down in South Florida where there’s supplemental light from, from street lights, there’s no lights up here in, in the mountains. We’re up in the Rocky Mountains. And this is a true zero light infrared test that you’re about to see again using that Viewtron 180 camera that you see behind me.
Here’s the recorded video surveillance footage from the Viewtron 180 degree security camera. So you see me coming from the side of the house here and I’m going to walk out to the edge of my driveway and this is a great test because this camera’s IR night vision is rated at 30 meters or 90ft. And the edge of that driveway right there is right about 80ft, like 80, 82ft away. And I have to have the flashlight on, on my camera because there’s no light out here, there’s no street lights or anything up in the mountains. So I really couldn’t see anything without my flashlight on the camera on. I will turn it off right here so we can get a picture without any ambient light at all. That’s all illumination from the built in infrared LEDs on the 180 camera. So I’m just going to walk back to the side of the house again and I’m going to show you another clip too.
That was a zero light early in the morning this early evening last night. So there is some ambient light from the house next door. You can see the house next door has some of their lights on but, but it is very dark. The sun is completely down here. It’s 9:30pm at night and I’m just going to walk the full length of the driveway which again is 80ft long. And I’ll stop here in front of the camera about 10ft away and just show you what the IR night vision looks like close up. It is dynamic. This camera does have small smart IR so it does adjust. And then I’m just going to walk back to the side of the house again. Over here.
Guys, I hope this video has been helpful to show the infrared night vision capability that’s built into that Viewtron 180 IP camera. I want to mention a few more things about this camera before we wrap up. In addition to the IR night vision that’s built into that camera, that camera also has two white LEDs that act as a spotlight camera. So if you want those spotlights to come on when someone is detected in the area, instead of running 100% in IR night vision mode where it always stays in black and white, you can have those spotlights triggered and then the camera turns to color. It’s called a supplemental light mode. I like to call it spotlight mode because it really acts as a spotlight. But anyways, I’m going to make another video to show the spotlight camera supplemental light mode and I’ll be I’ll be posting that very soon.
In addition, that camera also has a red and blue LED that act as an alarm light. So if you want alarm lights to come on anytime a person or a vehicle is detected in the area, you can have those alarm lights come on as well. There’s also an audio surveillance mic on there to record audio surveillance and it supports two way audio communication as well. So you could get a push notification on the mobile app when when the the camera detect someone in the area and you can come over the speaker that’s built into that camera using the mobile app and talk to someone that’s on your property. Anyways guys, this camera has a ton of features. I’m going to be doing a lot more testing with it. It’s really becoming one of my favorite Viewtron cameras at this point. It’s really working out great.
