Viewtron 180 Degree Security Camera Records Moose in Colorado

Check out this video surveillance footage of a moose that was recorded with the Viewtron 180 cameras that I installed last week. I am using the Viewtron security camera system installed at my house in Colorado for both security and wildlife viewing. You can also download the exported video footage from the NVR here.

A few days ago, I saw this moose walking across my back yard while I was washing dishes in the kitchen. I hurried to find my iPhone so that I could record video of the moose. Well, I did not find my phone in time, but luckily my security cameras were setup to record continuously, so I never miss anything.

This is where I have the two Viewtron IP-180-4D IP cameras installed. You can see them attached to that facial board of our wooden deck. These two cameras provide amazing video coverage of the side and back yard.

I have another Viewtron 180 camera installed on the front of the house to monitor the driveway and front yard.

Here is a cropped snapshot photo of the moose that I captured from the video footage. I wish that he would have come closer to the camera. This is about 70 feet away from where the camera is mounted to my desk.

All of the Viewtron IP cameras at my house are hard wired to a 16ch Viewtron NVR. The PoE ports on the back of the NVR provide power to all of my cameras. We have Viewtron NVRs available in 4ch, 8ch, 16ch, 32ch, 64ch, and 128ch models.

Although the primary purpose of the Viewtron 180 IP camera is for security, it is turning out to be an amazing wildlife camera. Here are some of the additional features.

  • Audio Microphone – Records audio and also used for 2-way communication from the mobile app.
  • Spotlights – White spotlights can optionally be turned on when motion is detected by the camera.
  • Speaker – The audio speaker can optionally be used to play a siren sound or warning message when motion is detected by the AI software. The speaker is also used for the 2-way audio communication from the mobile app.
  • Infrared LEDs – The IR night vision of this camera is rated up to 90 feet.
  • Alarm Light – The red and blue alarm light LED can optionally be turned on when motion is detected by this IP camera.

Please note that the Viewtron IP-180-4D is an AI security camera. It can detect people, cars, and faces using AI software. The AI intrusion detection is much more accurate compared to standard video motion detection. You can learn more about all Viewtron AI cameras here.
