KeymasterIn case you are interested, you can find our online video storage calculator here. It is used to estimate the size of hard drive that you need for your security camera system DVR / NVR.

KeymasterAnother customer recently contacted my and asked the following.
I have the NIGHT OWL 960 VIDEO SECURITY FOR 8 CHANNEL WITH 4 CAMERA SYSTEM MODEL F6-81-4624-N-BF. I am looking for security cameras that are compatible with this system. I am so confused on what cameras will work. I need to get the right camera that will work with the existing Night Owl cables and DVR that came with this system.
This is what I recommended.
The Night Owl DVR that is included with the F6-81-4624-N-BF system is a 960H analog CCTV DVR.
It is compatible with any of our 4-in-1 HD security cameras.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/4-in-1-HD-over-Coax-Cameras-s/1342.htmOne of the great things about our those 4-in-1 selectable format cameras is that in addition to supporting the standard analog CCTV format that works with your existing DVR, they also support three of the most popular 1080p HD video formats.
Here is a picture of the small joystick that is attached to our 4-in-1 cameras that allow you to select the video mode by holding the joystick in one of the 4 directions for 5 seconds.
These selectable video modes mean that if you can later upgrade to a high definition DVR and your cameras will still work. You can just switch them to the 1080p AHD or HD-TVI video mode to work with the new DVR. I highly recommend these iDVR-PRO AHD hybrid DVRs when you are ready to upgrade.

February 15, 2019 at 4:43 pm in reply to: Which Security Cameras are Compatible with Swann DVR? #36117Mike Haldas
KeymasterAnother customer recently contacted me asking about Swann camera compatibility. This is what he asked.
I installed a Swann “Security in a Box” surveillance system about 5 years ago. The system has 4 Pro-640 cameras and a Swann H.264 DVR. Everything worked perfectly until a month ago when a camera went out, and a second camera has started providing a hazy picture. Since PRO-640 replacement cameras aren’t available, I bought an SWPRO-735 camera online after the seller assured me it would work with my H.264 DVR. It doesn’t.
I’m willing to purchase new cameras, even a complete 4-8 camera system, but I want to be sure the existing Swann cable and BNC connectors will be compatible with the new cameras. The wiring took me a week to install inconspicuously using metal channels. Pulling the old wire out and threading in new would be impossible.
Any advice you can give will be greatly appreciated.
This was my recommendation.
Those Swann Pro-640 cameras are standard definition analog CCTV cameras, so is that H.264 DVR that was sold with those systems that were typically sold at Costco and Sam’s Club. That DVR is only compatible with standard resolution analog CCTV cameras.
What I recommend to customers in your situation is our 4-in-1 HD security cameras. They support standard definition analog CCTV mode. So, they will work with your existing DVR. But, they also support 1080p HD modes in AHD, HD-TVI, and HD-CVI formats.
This is convenient if you later upgrade to a high definition DVR, they will still work. You can later switch them to 1080p HD resolution using the small joystick that is attached to their video cable.
We have a bunch of 4-in-1 HD security cameras available here.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/4-in-1-HD-over-Coax-Cameras-s/1342.htmThey will work with your existing Swann security camera cables.
You can later upgrade to an AHD DVR like these and switch the cameras to AHD 1080p mode.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/HD-Security-Camera-DVRs-s/972.htmHere are some of my best selling 4-in-1 cameras that Swann customers really like.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Business-Security-Camera-p/bipro-9004.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/HD-Dome-Infrared-Surveillance-Camera-p/hd-q3.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Bullet-Surveillance-Camera-p/bpro-ol952.htmI do recommend that you test the 1080p mode with your existing cable when you are ready to make the switch because the 1080p modes require better cable than analog mode.
Please take a look and let me know what you think. Please send any questions. I can be reached at mike@cctvcamerapros.net

The concepts and setup process for all surveillance DVRs is the same. Here are basic steps required for just about any brand DVR or IP camera.
Does the Internet connection at the location of your DVR or IP camera use a dynamic IP address? If yes, you need to setup a DDNS account. Some DVRs and IP cameras has a DDNS service built into them. You can learn more about DDNS here.

KeymasterHello TerminalMan,
In regards to issue 1. Typically the audio cutting in and out is related to bandwidth. Please try lowering the cameras resolution to see if this helps the audio break. You can also try lowing the frame rate.
Moving onto your 2nd question, open the Camgraba software go to Config > Setting > System Setting > Make sure Audio on Active channel is enabled.
If you would like the audio to be recorded you will go into the schedule menu and select the camera that you would like to record audio with and select the configure button > Make sure record audio is checked.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank You

KeymasterHello coffeeson7,
We do have wireless IP cameras however they will need an access point to connect to such as a router for remote viewing. If you are not going to need to remotely view the camera than you can use the following option — https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Outdoor-IP-Cube-Camera-p/vivotek-ip8336w.htm
As long as you are within range of the camera you will be able to connect to the unit ( about a 100ft) directly via smartphone laptop etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank You

KeymasterDillon,
Disconnect the hard drive from the DVR, then boot it up with the HDD disconnected. If there are no errors when booting without a hard drive, then the hard drive is most likely the problem and just needs to be replaced.

KeymasterModo,
It is hard to believe you were getting a week with a 250GB HDD in a JPEG2000 DVR. Is the DVR set to record based on Motion Detection?
Also you may want to check the “Record Configuration” on the DVR. You can try lowering the Frame rate / resolution. This will help obtain more days of recording.
Thank You

Please advise.
Thank You
JamesMike Haldas
KeymasterHello Modo,
If your JPEG2000 is giving the error “No HDD detected”, this means it is not recognizing the internal Hard Drive being used to store the recorded videos. This would explain why you are not able to look at the previously recorded data. To fix this issue you will need to replace the internal Hard Drive, for instructions on how to replace / add a Hard Drive please see the following article — https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DVR-Hard-Drive-Installation-s/218.htm
Please let me know if you have any questions.

KeymasterHere is another example of how to use HD CCTV cameras to display a live video feed on a HDTV / monitor. This particular customer was actually a marketing form that had a client that sold high end beach front homes and houses on the intracoastal waterway in Palm Beach and Broward county Florida.
The builder wanted to have a live camera feed of the intracoastal view from the doc in the back of their showroom. The doc is located approximately 600 feet from where the monitor will be mounted.
Here is a wiring diagram.
Because the coax cable (RG59 or RG6) needed to be run more than 300 feet, an HD-SDI video repeater / extender was needed to boost the signal.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterJohn,
What are you connecting the video signals to on the receiving end? Are you wanting to connect to a DVR?
Mike Haldas
Keymasterfraggedout,
I asked Geovision technical support to comment on this and here is what they recommended:
1. Turn off the WDR by accessing Video Adjustment through the Live View screen on the web interface of that IP camera.
2. Check the D/N sensitivity of the IP camera under Video Settings, Stream 1. If it is not sensitive enough, please make it higher than 5.
Thanks.
-Mike
Mike Haldas
Keymasterpowrpacks,
No, your cameras do not need to be configured on different ports. This does not have any impact on network throughput.
In my experience, it is rare to achieve the wireless speeds that wireless bridge manufacturers claim on their specs.
That being said, I would think that you can do a lot better than 45kbs per camera.
Have you contacted Ubiquiti support?
June 27, 2013 at 7:37 pm in reply to: Remote surveillance system with alarm input / alarm output integration #32503Mike Haldas
KeymasterDavie,
Thank you for posting your question. What you want to do is actually not trivial to setup. Alarm input / alarm output integration and setup is actually a more advanced topic for DIY installers. This article that I wrote explains some of the concepts to do something like what you are trying to do. It explains some basics on using digital IO ports (alarm in / out) using an IP camera.
In that article there is a panic button hooked up to the alarm input which triggers an event that FTP uploads a snapshot image to a remote server. The alarm also trips a relay to the alarm output of the camera where I have a simple low voltage LED light connected.
The concepts to setup what you describe are similar, but replace the panic button with an IR bean and instead of sending the snapshot to server, the camera can be setup to email the snapshot to you.
We have also documented how to setup alarm inputs on one of our stand alone CCTV DVR here:
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/support/topic/idvr-pro-surveillance-dvr-alarm-integration
Mike Haldas
KeymasterMaybe there is a firewall setting on your laptop that is blocking communication with the applications. Try temporarily disabling your firewall to see if that fixes the problem.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterTim,
I have consulted with Geovision engineering on this question and here is the feedback that they had.
On the relay side, I am not sure how you can trigger multiple relays when the camera supports only two. Geovision does however offer different I/O boxes from 4 to 16 ports each, but these IO boxes require the Geovision Multicam software to control (instead of controlling using the IP camera directly).
If using the Geovision software is OK for you instead of just the IP camera directly, then you can a Geovision I/O box to a Multicam system and use the inputs and outputs to your needs accordingly.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterHi Tim,
Unfortunately, Geovision 360 fisheye cameras do not stream a dewarped MJPEG stream via URL. At this time, only our the Geovision PC-based surveillance applications can dewarp the Fisheye view.
Geovision does intend to enable this in the GV Mobile Server. However, it is not yet available.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.

KeymasterEvecm,
For a high resolution, vandal-proof, and weatherproof camera you may want to consider our new HD-AD40 HD armor dome camera.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/HD-Security-Camera-p/hd-ad40.htm
This is an HD-SDI type CCTV camera which requires an HD-SDI compatible DVR. This camera is capable or capturing video at full 1080p resolution (same as high def television).
If you want to stick with traditional analog CCTV, I recommend that you consider our DPRO-AS700, which is also a weatherproof and vandal-proof dome.
If you want to learn more about CCTV vs. HD-SDI resolution for video surveillance, I recommend that you take a look at this article that I wrote.
Our Viewtron DVRs support viewing live and recorded surveillance video from Mac computers. We highly recommend Viewtron for both analog CCTV and HD-SDI systems. He have Viewtron DVRs that support both. These are called hybrids. You can have 4 analog anf 4 HD-SDI cameras on the same system for example.
Please let me know if I can help further.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterDavid,
No, any modem should work as long as either of the following is true.
1) The modem you are using is also a router and allows you to setup port forwarding rules.
2) You are separately using router and the modem is bridged to allow all traffic to be passed through and managed by the router.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Mike Haldas
Keymasterplysat,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. In case you are not aware, the iDVR comes with a lifetime support direct from CCTV Camera Pros as long as you purchased the DVR from us.
I do not see any orders in our system under your email address, but maybe you used a different one than the forum registration.
Please email us at info@cctvcamerapros.net with any one of the following.
1) Your orderID
2) The email address used for your order
3) The name and complete billing or shipping address for your order
As long as we can verify that you have a genuine iDVR from us, we will gladly login remotely to the network that your iDVR is on and re-configure remote access for you. We can do this Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm EST.
Please let us know if we can help further.

Keymasterpops,
Although I am not familiar with E-Vision DVRs, the process generally the same for all DVRs.
1) You need to figure out the port that your DVR is running on. Typically, you can access a network settings screen on your DVR that will tell you this.
2) You need to setup port forwarding on your router for this port so that you can access your DVR remotely over the Internet.
3) You need to program the correct settings into the iPhone app so that you can access the DVR.
Take a look at the iPhone and iPad app instructions for CCTV Camera Pros iDVR. Use these steps and concepts to guide you on your DVR as much as possible.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DVR-Remote-Access-iPhone-iPad-App-s/478.htm

KeymasterLeaving a direct connection to any IP camera open in a web browser over a 2 week time period uninterrupted is unrealistic.
IP manufacturers generally provide web browser access to IP cameras as a convenient way to check on on the camera view on demand; not persistently for period of days and definitely not weeks.
If you want to capture events that are happening over long periods of time (days, weeks, months), you would use a commercial grade NVR such as the NUUO NVR mini or NUUO NVR Titan to record the video.

Typically the USB inputs on the DVR are only for using a mouse or exporting video. The USB port will most likely not plug directly into a PC.
If the DVR supports remote viewing there should be a Eathernet port on the DVR. You should be able to plug the DVR into the router on site and view via Web browser or client software included with the DVR.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

KeymasterDuane,
You may want to consider Geovision IP cameras. Geovision includes a 32 channel NVR software license with the purchase of their cameras. This can provide a significant cost savings to you and the quality of the software is comparable to other commercial packages like Milestone. Please take a look at Geovision IP cameras when you get a chance.

KeymasterHello Fred,
Are you using the NUUO mini NVRs or the PC Based IP+ software?
If you are using a NVR mini, is it the Mini 1 , 2 or S series?
Also how many cameras are you running on the unit and what resolution are they set to?
Please advise.
Thanks James
Mike Haldas
KeymasterWe have a two channel VGA splitter here. I have never seen an un-powered one like the one you provided the picture of. In my experience, when you split a VGA or analog video signal, the device needs to be powered in order to maintain the correct signal strength.

Thank You for posting. Please be advised that the http://www.iDVRViewer.com tool will only work with iDVR-E4, iDVR-E8, iDVR-E16, iDVR-RT16 model CCTV DVRs that CCTV Camera Pros supplies.
This is not a generic DVR viewer that works with all H.264 DVRs.
Also, please note that this tool was developed before the Android, iPhone, and iPad apps were developed, so users should now use those apps if they use those mobile devices. The apps can be downloaded here:

Please let us know if we can help further.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterThis customer followed up with us with the below questions:
1. Can I purchase any DVR (given it has adequate harddrive space and a 8ch) from anywhere they sell it, and plug any surveillance camera to it? Or do I need to have of the same brand as the dvr and camera for it to work?
You do not need to purchase the same brand DVR and cameras. Just be sure to get standard CCTV cameras that work with coaxial cable for the video and BNC connectors. Some proprietary cameras and DVRs use a non-standard type of connector to run power and video.
2. The more IR led on a night vision camera, the better? Is that true?
Not necessarily. Not all products are created equal. The quality of the image sensor, IR LEDs, and camera firmware (software) are all factors. This is why there are cameras on the market for $40 and cameras on the market for $400.
3. If I get purchase a dvd and it states I can view it from online anywhere there is a internet connection…. do I need to pay for a subscription/ licence or can do I just need the camera's IP, user name, and password to access it? (it'll be used on a home)
Our systems do not have any monthly subscription fees to connect. Some other companies do charge for this.
4. Lastly, are all dvrs that record on a harddrive can be accessed from a different part of the world and playback while still recording, or do they stop recording since you're replaying a file from lets say yesterday then once you finish playing a file they start back?
Most can record and playback at the same time. Some very low end DVRs can not. All of ours do.
Again, THANK YOU veryyyy veryyyy much for your replies and I look forward to doing business with you as my budget is approx $600 for 6camera and a dvr that can record and still be able to view from a different part of the world when I travel at nightvision given the access is password protected so no one can view my house other than me with a password. Looking forward to your reply on those four questions.
Unfortunately, we do not sell ultra low end equipment to compete with systems that you may see at sams club or costco, so I do not have anything in a 6 camera configuration in the price range. You can likely find something in that price range, but with a company backing it with support and knowledge to be thorough like we are is very unlikely.
Please let me know if I can help further.
Sincerely.

KeymasterHello Kentuckynet,
Thank you for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. Here is a link to our GeoVision DVR cards — click here. GeoVision carries many different options, the only differences between the listed cards is the amount of cameras that can be plugged in, audio channels and frame rate.
Each DVR card has a spec sheet listed on its corresponding page that lists the minimum PC requirements.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James

KeymasterHello Gate,
You will not be able to run two instances of the Multicam Software. However you can utilize the "Digital Matrix" within the GeoVision console. This will allow you to display 16 cameras on the main monitor and using the Digital Matrix you can display the remainder on the 2nd monitor.
Here is a link to the GeoVision Manual — https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/downloads/geovision/8.5.3_Manual.pdf
Please refer to chapter 11.15 for the Digital Matrix
If you have any questions please let me know.

KeymasterHi Tim,
Thank You for posting. I recommend that you get in touch with the vendor that sold you the DVR. Typically DVR manufacturers develop iPhone apps only for their DVRs. Unlike IP cameras, there are no generic mobile applications that work with many third party surveillance DVRs.
This is because DVRs are much more difficult to integrate with than IP cameras and many manufacturers do not even release an SDK or API for developers to use.
Sorry we do not have a solution. Best bet is to reach out to the vendor that sold you the DVR.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Mike Haldas
KeymasterRob,
CCTV Camera Pros offers the following VGA video splitters that can split any VGA output from a DVR.
Please let us know if we can help further with anything.
Mike Haldas
Keymasterjdaskal,
I am not familiar with those apps but the concepts to setup remote access to a most surveillance DVRs is the same.
What you are describing is a common problem that you can read more about here:
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/icamviewer-cctv-iphone-app/ip-camera-3g-wifi-access.html
Please use our check open port forwarding tool to make sure that port 101 is properly forwarded on your router.
Make sure that when you access from outside your network, you are using the Internet gateway address of your modem's Internet connection. Go to this page from a computer that is connected to the same network as your DVR.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Get-IP-Address-s/174.htm
Please note that both of these tools and more are also available on the CCTV Camera Pros mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android. They can be downloaded for free here:

KeymasterSgt Major Magos,
Great to hear from you! Unfortunately, as successful as it was during its time, the manufacturer of the JPEG2000 and JPEG dual codec DVRs is no longer manufacturing and and an iPhone app was never created for those units.
One possible solution for customers that still want to use these DVRs can do is run desktop sharing software on a PC that is running the JM IRS, then use an app to connect to the remote desktop connection. The quality tends to suffer on those remote desktop connections so I am not so sure this is the best solution. It is a work around at best.
Thanks for posting Sgt Major and Semper Fi!
Mike Haldas
KeymasterStuey,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I checked our database and do not see any orders in our system under your email address. Please note that H.264 is a video codec used by most DVRs and is not a brand. If you have one of our DVRs, please email info@cctvcvamerapros.net with the order ID or email address used to place the order and a tech will help you.
Thanks.

February 5, 2013 at 8:51 pm in reply to: Is it possible to wire cameras in house with no attic? #32451Mike Haldas
Keymasterthisisstephen,
This is definitely possible with the use of PVC conduit, as long as you do not mind how that looks on the exterior of your house.
Mike Haldas
Keymasterlancer525,
Sorry to hear you are still having trouble. My honest recommendation is to return the DVR system that you bought from the Ebay and get your money back. It is unacceptable to buy something as technical as a surveillance system and not get any support.
CCTV Camera Pros does this setup for customers remotely over the Internet when our equipment is used. Unfortunately, we know even less about your DVR than you do because it is not our product.
In case you are unable to return your DVR, I will provide some links below that will hopefully help you but again keep in mind that these are instructions for CCTV Camera Pros equipment and explanations about general concepts. You still need to figure out the specifics to get your DVR to work.
You need to know the following for your DVR at least:
1) Do you access your DVR from a PC using a web browser or was a software application provided on CD?
2) If browser, are only certain ones supported?
3) Which mobile apps are used for iPhone, iPad, Android?
4) Is a different port used for mobile access?
Once you know these things, these articles should help you:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DVR-Network-Setup-Port-Forwarding-s/488.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DVR-Remote-Access-iPhone-iPad-App-s/478.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Remote-Access-Client-Software-CMS-s/485.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm
If you are still stuck, do yourself a favor and return that surveillance system that you bought from Ebay and purchase a real DVR from a real company that will support it. Our iDVR is the best on the market.

KeymasterHello rnicholas75,
Unfortunately the JPEG DVR has been discontinued. I do not know of a place where you can purchase a power supply for one. You can check local stores like radio shack, best buy etc. The JPEG Power Supplies came with a 4 pin din connector which is harder to find these days.
You can most likely find one on Amazon or Ebay if your local electronic store does not.
Sorry I could not be more help.
Thanks James
Mike Haldas
KeymasterManny,
Yes, it is possible to use a multi-camera power supply box with pre-made Siamese coax cable that already has the male power plug end attached. You can simply attach PT-3 female power lead to the end of your existing cable.
This turns the 2.1mm plug into a positive and negative cable lead that can attach to the screw terminals of a power supply box for your security cameras.
Please let me know if you have additional questions about this.
Mike Haldas
Keymasterlancer525,
Have you contacted the seller on Ebay for support? You can refer to the documentation on our website for some help because the concepts involved are the same for any DVR, but the vendor that sold you the equipment should provide you with specific instructions for that particular model.

KeymasterHello Saedari,
Can you please provide me with the Serial # on the bottom of the DVR so I can see if we have an update available for you?
You can find the serial number on the bottom of the DVR.

Mike Haldas
KeymasterHello Lancer525,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Can you provide me with the model # of the DVR? Was the DVR purchased through us CCTV Camera Pros?
The reason I ask is not all DVRs are web browser accessible, most are but not all. Is there a disc that came with the DVR? If so most likely there is a client software you can use for remote viewing instead of web browser. Please try using client software to see if you are able to connect to the DVR.
This will tell you is it a browser issue or not.
Please advise.
Thanks James

KeymasterHello Dgs61391,
The GV-Eye application does support PTZ controls. What is the model camera you are using? The GV-Eye app is meant for a direct connection to an IP camera.
If you are using analog CCTV cameras with a GV-NET + GeoVisions DVR Card and software you will need to use the GV-iView application.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank You for posting your question. Zavio IP cameras can be configured to send a video via FTP when motion detection is sensed. The Zavio cameras that have alarm inputs can also send video or snapshots based on alarms from external devices. You can find Zavio IP cameras here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-IP-Cameras-s/404.htm
I recently setup a project that uploaded snapshots via FTP at a set time interval. You can also send video this way and again, you can do it based on motion detection and other alarm types as well. You can read more about the FTP snapshot project here to see some of the screenshots of the setup screens.

KeymasterHello Area51,
Please NOTE: H.264 is not a DVR model it is a compression that almost every DVR on the market currently uses.
If you are not able to remotely view the DVR,it is most likely because you have not forwarded the ports for the DVR.
You will need to figure out what port the DVR is running on (you can typically find this in the network menu of the DVR). Once you have the port you will need to log into your router and forward that port.
If the DVR was purchased through us we will have instructions in our support and knowledge base — https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Surveillance-Knowledge-Base-s/57.htm
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Keymastercwwofford,
I apologize that CCTV Camera Pros does not carry Speco PTZs so I have limited knowledge. I do think that the configuration screen not going away on the camera is a significant clue though. Maybe Speco displays this when there is a malfunction with the camera or maybe there is a problem that is causing the menu to not go away. Either way, it almost definitely appears to be a camera problem and I recommend that you get in touch with Speco or the distributor that you purchased it from for possible warranty service.

First, please make sure the motion recording is setup correctly in the iDVR-E — https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Surveillance-DVR-Motion-Record-s/446.htm
Once setup I would suggest using the Default SMTP server. This utilizes the built in SMTP server of the iDVR-E. Please see below instructions on how to configure the Default SMTP server.
1. Log into the Network Men on the iDVR-E
2. On the Email tab select Default.
3. Now type in the email address or addresses you would like to send the alert out to.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

KeymasterMike,
Thank You for your post. I highly recommend that before proceeding with any additional troubleshooting, that you upgrade to the latest version of Geovision software.
If the problem persists, disconnect all of the cameras from the Geovision card. Then connect them one at a time. Take note of when the problem occurs. In other words, are the video feeds fine until you connect a certain camera? If that is the case, you may have a bad cable that is not grounded and causing all of the other videos to be bad.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterAndre,

Are you using the wireless transmitters / receivers indoors or outdoors?
If outdoors, do you have a direct line of sight between the transmitters and receivers?
If indoors, are you only transmitting through drywall or are there more solid wall structures?
Mike Haldas
Keymasterrpciam,
Unfortunately, those wires are not designed to be cut and spliced. Typically, the only way this issue is fixed is to solder a new power wire to the camera board and it is usually difficult or impossible to get these from camera manufacturers.
Sorry I do not have better news for you.
Mike Haldas
Keymasterbbrouwer,
Thank You for your question. You can use this quad video processor.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Color-Quad-Processor-p/vm-q401a.htm
You need to convert the S-video connections to BNC by using this S-Video to RCA converter.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/S-Video-to-RCA-Converter-p/s-video-rca-converter.htm
And this RCA to BNC converter.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/BNC-RCA-Connector-p/bnc-rcam1.htm
Please note that this will only work if the camera connectors truely are S-Video. There have been some proprietary CCTV camera connectors that I have seen in the past that look like s-video but are in fact a proprietary connector that runs both the video and power of the camera.
Please let us know if we can help further.

Keymastermlmoore,
Thank you for posting on the CCTV forum. I created the below CCTV cabling diagram to illustrate the recommended solution. To keep the image small, I only used 4 CCTV cameras in the example, a 4 in to 8 out video splitter, and a 4 channel Geovision DVR card, but the concepts documented can be applied to any number of cameras.
Starting at the top of the diagram, the 4 CCTV cameras are connected using RG59 Siamese cable. CCTV Camera Pros recommends using 95% copper RG59 cable because of the quality and the convenience of running both power and video in a single cable. The black portion of the cable in the diagram represents the coaxial part of the cable and the red represents the 18/2 conductor power wire.
The coax cable portion goes into a 4 input to 8 output BNC cable splitter. The 18 guage power cable connects to a CCTV power supply box.
The video splitter outputs all for channels to two devices. The first device is a Geovision DVR card (which would in reality be installed in a Windows PC but now shown this way in the diagram). The second device is a CCTV multiplexer, which can then output all of the channels to a monitor (not picture in the diagram).

I just tested the GV-iView iPhone app with the GV system that we have at the office on my iPhone 4 with the iOS 6 upgrade and it looks good.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterPaolo,
My understanding is the Audio Stream Input/Output (ASIO) is used as an interface between a computer sounds card and software application. Typically, with video surveillance applications, the audio is captured by either a DVR card (if you are using a CCTV system) or over TCP/IP in the case of an IP camera that supports audio, not the sound card of the PC itself.
I am sure there are other ways to do it, but this is the way we are most familiar with.
Sorry I was not much help.
September 24, 2012 at 7:36 pm in reply to: Megapixel IP Camera w/ SD Storage and Analog Video Output #32413Mike Haldas
Keymasterdchurch,
Thank you for posting your questions. The following Zavio IP cameras support high definition video surveillance at 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080) and have internal micro SD card recording and an analog RCA video output that can feed a CCTV DVR. I just tested this with our iDVR surveillance recorder to make sure the output worked properly.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/HD-Security-Camera-p/zavio-b7210.htm
The Zavio B7210 HD camera is already enclosed in a weatherproof housing and has a 3-9mm varifocal lens.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/HD-Surveillance-Camera-p/zavio-f7210.htm
The Zavio F7210 as you can see is a box style HD camera that can be enclosed in a weathproof and vandal proof housing if you intend on using it outdoors. It comes with a 3-8mm vari-focal lens, but that can be replaced with a larger lens if you require it.
Both of these IP cameras have the same firmware which supports both continuous and motion detection recording to a local micro SD card. All Zavio cameras also include a 32 channel NVR software license that enables you to use a Windows PC as your recorder. However neither camera requires a PC to be continuously running to record to the SD card. You would just need a PC for the initial configuration and to access from time to time as you need to pull video from the SD card.
Please let us know if you have additional questions. We are the US distributor for Zavio and directly provide all of the support and warranty service for the products that we supply.
Sincerely.

KeymasterRobert,
In this situation you can only record one audio channel. The camera channel that you relate or marry to the audio channel is configurable, meaning if you want channel 3 to be related to the microphone vs channel 1, you can do that. The mic does not have to be actually mounted near the camera you related the audio to though. Please let us know if we can help further or if you need clarification.
Thanks.

KeymasterLuke,
Sorry for the delayed response. Can you please confirm the following so that we can make a recommendation?
1) The camera will be located 3-5 feet from the target and not 30 meters away.
2) Is the goal to just see the targets live on a monitor? no recording?
Thanks.

KeymasterIf your password is not working, most DVRs have an override password reset or master password that enables you to login to the DVR to reset the password. For example, here is a link to a page that shows you how to reset your password on iDVR-PRO CCTV DVRs.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/iDVR-PRO-Password-Reset-Instructions-s/895.htmAt this point, I would recommend doing that if you can find the instructions specific for your model DVR.
Mike Haldas
Keymasterpuncture,
If your IP cameras do not have built in wireless support, you need to add a wireless bridge to the camera such as one of these:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IP-Camera-Wireless-Access-Point-p/wifi-ap3500.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Security-Camera-System-p/wifi-en95610.htm
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Your welcome
Unfortunately, we can only provide Geovision driver downloads to customers that we have supplied the equipment to, however, you can access the US branch of Geovision download center here:

You may also want to let them know that the distributor that you purchased from is not being cooperative. Maybe they can help you with that and make sure it does not happen further.
I hope this helps.

KeymasterHere is some additional information to note on this subject. Many times users assume that an H.264 DVR is a brand or model when actually H.264 is a video standard that hundreds of DVR manufacturers use.
Unfortunately, just because a DVR uses the H.264 video codec standard does not mean that you can use any app that is made for another DVR model that also uses the H.264 video standard. Each manufacturer only creates DVR viewer apps that work with the DVRs that they manufacture.
For any user that is looking for one of the best surveillance DVRs available on the market for remote Internet access and viewing via mobile phones and tablets (such as iPhone, Android, and iPad), we highly recommend our iDVR.
The remote viewing setup instructions for our iDVR can be found here. Please note that these applications and instructions are only applicable to our iDVR-E4, iDVR-E8, iDVR-E16, and iDVR-RT16 model recorders.
Mike Haldas
Keymasternikesens,
Unfortunately, the iCamViewer iPhone app is only integrated with IP cameras. We did experiment with integrated it with our iDVR a few years ago, but the iPhone app that is made specifically for the iDVR works much better.
So at this time, the iCamViewer is only made to work with IP cameras.
Please let us know if we can help further.

KeymasterHello Jade22,
GeoVision is very slow about getting back to customers in regards to the GeoVision disk if ever. Your best bet is to go to https://usavisionsys.com, once here on the right hand side of the webpage you will see the live chat icon. Wait until they are online and initiate a chat. Go ahead request the software via live chat, they will require the Serial number for the GeoVision DVR card which can be found on the the DVR card itself (usually starts with 4-5 zeros). Once the serial number is verified they will send you a link directly to the FTP site where you can download the software at no cost.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James

Sorry to see that you never got a reply on this. CCTV Camera Pros does not carry that product like and I do not know of a generic heated dome that would definitely fit your PTZ. If you are ever looking for a replacement and are interested in a IR PTZ, please check out this one:

Make sure you stop the recording n the DVR. You can do this by pressing the REC button on the remote and than typing in your password once prompted. Now the Red LED light next to the R on the front of the DVR should be off.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterErnie,
While on site some networks will not allow you to use a remote address to connect while on site. So in this case you will need to connect via the local / private ip address. It usually will start with a 192. or 10.
I hope this helps.
Thanks James

Yes, the EMS, as well as all other DVR viewers for the iDVR will work on your local area network as well as remotely over the Internet (as long as port forwarding is configured).
Please let us know if we can help further.

KeymasterTracy,
Because the Zavio F210A is not a PoE capable camera, you need to use an PoE injector / splitter solution. CCTV Camera Pros supplies one here.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PoE-Injector-p/poe-dl-is200.htm
A PoE switch will NOT work with the Zavio F210A or F312A cameras. Please let us know if we can help further.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterRizB,
Yes there is a slightly noticeable difference in the visual resolution between a 420 and 500 TVL CCTV camera. You would see a greater difference if you went with a 600+ TVL camera. This vandal dome camera that we supply supports 620 TVL in day color mode and 700 TVL in black and white, night mode. This camera uses a Sony chip.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Vandal-Dome-Camera-p/dpro-as700.htm
Mike Haldas
KeymasterCroppycat,
I believe that the manufacturer that made the JPEG2000 and JPEG dual codec DVRs is completely gone at this point, so I am not sure that anyone even maintains that j2kip website . I suggest that you use a different service for DDNS. Although it is no longer free, DynDns offers DDNS services for $20 per year. I have personally been using it for about 5 years and it works great.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterTypically, you will add a PoE switch or mid-span injector to your network in addition to a router. I do not know of any routers that have built in PoE. Here are the PoE switches and injectors that we supply.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PoE-for-IP-Camera-s/522.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterHello johndiamond,
In regards to plugging into a multiplexer, just curious as to why you are going through the multiplexer instead of going direct into the DVR? Also black and white images are typically caused by PAL cameras connecting to a DVR that is set to NTSC. Do you know what video source your cameras use, PAL or NTSC?
In regards to the video stream being choppy, I would advise first to remove the Multiplexer out of the equation and then see if this helps. Also in regards to connecting via iPhone you will need to make sure you have a strong wifi or 3g / 4g connection. Also within the DVR if you go to the Network menu , go to the MISC tab and make sure bandwidth is set to unlimited.
CMS and EMS passwords are both set at default to 0 (Single Zero).
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
March 22, 2012 at 8:22 pm in reply to: Geovision net i/o cannot change event type for center v2 #32347Mike Haldas
Keymasterphil,
To fix this issue you will need to make sure the "Monitor all types of events" is checked.
The above menu can be found on the actual DVR / NVR not the Center V2. You can simply press the "V" key on your keyboard. Once you press the "v" key you should see the above dialogue box. Once you check the box, save the settings.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterMacZavio3106,
The issue is still occurring even when hard wiring the camera? If so you may want to get an RMA so that you can have the camera replaced, it sounds like it may be a defective camera.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

6.5 was released in 2004 maybe even a bit earlier. I would recommend upgrading the system to 8.5.3 which is the most current version of GeoVision. You can request here https://www.usavisionsys.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26
NOTE: GeoVision is pretty slow about getting the upgrade sent out. They have a live chat on their web page, if you provide the representative with the serial # of the card they will send you over a link.
Once updated you can view your cameras via the GV-iView https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/pdf/geovision/Geovision-GV-iView-iPhone-App.pdf

I do not know if this would be possible without having the DNS host domain integrated with the cable / device you are trying to use. One of the reasons DynDns.org is so popular is because it is integrated into all of these routers, modems, DVR's etc.

KeymasterCCTV Camera Pros received the following questions related to this topic:
The basic intention of writing to you is to understand more about Zavio video server. I have Zavio video server with me, which I bought from a local CCTV distributor. I want to use Zavio Video server to achieve a Video door phone concept. I want to connect Zavio to an analogue camera and connect a microphone & amplifier speaker to it, to ensure that a 2 way communication can happen. I hope my understanding about the Video server is correct. Please advice.
I need your answers to my following questions about Zavio video server :
1. As I read somewhere that the audio feature is only supported over internet explorer. So thus it means that if i am using a MAC laptop / ipad and using safari i browse through the Zavio video server, i will not be able to listen to microphone connected to video server & talk back to the person using microphone of my MAC laptop or Ipad. Please advice if this is any how possible?
That is correct, the Audio is only supported using the Active X implementatiom via Internet Explorer.
2. Do we have a IP camera which supports 2 Way audio using Safari?
There are no IP cameras that I know if on the market at this time that support audio surveillance using the Safari web browser.
3. Does Zavio video server would support 2 way audio on a windows based tablet? If i am doing a 2 way communication using a windows tablet, whether the microphone of my tablet will automatically get activated when i want to talk to other person & my voice will come out of speakers connected to the video server. Please advice.
As long as the windows tablet is using the Active X controls via Internet Explorer, then I am 99% sure it will work. I can not be 100% sure only because I do not have a Windows tablet here to test with.
Mike Haldas
KeymasterCarlos,
Thanks for the post.
I understand that this is how you enable audio surveillance live monitoring in the web browser. I have the following questions:
- If you are using more than one channel of audio surveillance, how do you select the channel that you want to listen to?
-
This reply was modified 6 years, 10 months ago by
- How do you enable audio surveillance recording?
- Does remote playback from the web browser also play the audio?
- Does remote audio monitoring work with the iDVR-PRO iPhone app?
Patrick,
Thank You for downloading the iCamViewer. This is kind of strange that Apple has a way to lock the iPhone in portrait mode but not a way to lock in landscape mode. In iOS 5, if you double tap on the home button and scroll right, you will see this feature. If I find a workaround, I will let you know.
Thanks.
-Mike
Miros,
Please check to make sure you have the latest firmware installed.
Hello Carito,
Sorry for the delayed response please see the below answers.
1) Someone turns off the power to the house. How do I get around that? Can I add battery backup to every camera?
Battery Backup is correct.
2) Someone gets in then just steals the DVR. How do I get around that? Can any unit be set to upload the video somewhere?? What do most do for this? Defeats the purpose if they steal the unit after getting in the house.
There are a couple options.
Option 1.) You can get a DVR Lock Box. The DVR Lock Box bolts down to the floor and also has a key lock on the unit.
Option 2.) You can use GeoVision PC based DVR. GeoVision allows you to set an automated backup either as the recordings are happening or scheduled. This will allow you to back up the video to a storage device on site or remote from the location.
3) I see some units support x # of cameras. Would like to be able to expand also. What about this, or is that only something to worry about of they were hardwired and since I want wireless, I can exponentially add cameras up to whatever HDD space there is on a unit?
If you want to expand you will need to make sure the DVR or NVR will support the number of cameras you are looking for. Most standalone DVR's do not allow for expansion. If you will be starting out with 4 cameras and you know you will be exceeding that amount you may want to purchase a 8 or 16 channel DVR up front.
4)Would like to have 2-3 wireless cameras that can record at night and are wireless and can get wet if it rains. I can supply power, but would like to be able to add battery backup. Can I do that for u nder $200 a camera?
We do not have any outdoor wireless cameras in that price range. Wireless is not recommenced since it is completely dependance on the wireless network. Wireless cameras can also experience downtime , latency etc. Hard wiring cameras will always give you the best result.
5) Will the cameras and DVR integrate with the wireless I already have in the house. Standard WPA/WPA2 etc G/N type router?
It depends on the cameras. Typically that is the case. Some will run off access points , transmitters provided by the Manufacturer.
I hope this helps.
Thanks James
Hello bigb,
In regard to the first questions you can use a single Cat-5 cable to provide video for more than one camera. Please see the following link BALUN-4HUB This will allow you to run video for 4 cameras on 1 Cat-5 line.
In regards to the second question. The most economical approach is going to be our LPR-SC600HC however this camera will read License plates at a max of 27ft. If you cannot position the camera closer than here is the next option LPR-700H.
Here is some additional info on our LPR cameras https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/License-Plate-Capture-Cameras-s/283.htm
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello bigb,
Sorry for the delayed response. In regards to your question, With most cameras ,yes you do have to climb up to the camera every time you would like to access the cameras OSD menu. However some cameras use RS-485 cable to connect / interface with your DVR so that you can manage the OSD settings from your DVR.
Also you do not need to be a customer to get a response. However our responses on the support forum are sometimes delayed because direct customers are our 1st priority. I hope you can appreciate that.
Thanks James
Hello zp18zp18,
Sometimes even on fixed focus cameras you can twist the lens either right or left to adjust far or near focus. I would suggest trying this. Also if the cameras are facing into the sun the Iris can be damaged.

The sample HTML page to embed an IP camera into a web page was updated today so that Internet Explorer is supported using the Active X control. Firefox, Chrome, and Safari web browsers work using the cameras MJPEG (motion jpeg) video stream.
Hello Sidney,
Im not sure if the iDVR will work with the iVideon app. However if you have the iDVR-E you can use the Mobile CMS app or if you have the iDVR-PRO you can use the iCamViewer app.

Hello irishcrows,
If you are needing to log into the OSD menu of the camera. Most PTZ cameras are programmed with the preset of 95 to access the OSD menu by default. So using the GeoVision Virtual PTZ control call out to preset 95.
To Access the Virtual PTZ interface click the following button see below image.
Now select Preset 95.
I hope this helps.

philcaam,
What device are you using to update the DDNS service? If your camera or DVR is not doing a god job of updating DynDNS, then you may want to try using this free windows DDNS updater / client:
https://dyn.com/support/clients/windows/
This method requires that you have a Windows PC always running on the same network as your IP cameras or Internet surveillance DVR.

In our experience, it is very difficult to repair a CCTV camera that has a broken cable lead because most of the time the cable is soldered to the circuit board of the camera by machine and the connections are too small to do by hand if you wanted to try to replace it. ON the other hand, it can also be difficult to figure out how the internal wiring is done on the lead to repair it. Most of the time, we replace cameras that are in the state that you are describing. I am sorry that I do not have better news for you. Please let us know if we can help further.
andy25i,
1 camera = 1 channel. The maximum number of cameras you can view is 128.
Thanks James
pbmaster2k89,
If you have the options for single port forwarding use this method. If not use port range forwarding.
Thanks James
pbmaster2k89,
In the router do you have the options between single port forwarding and port range forwarding. If so make sure you are using the single port forwarding.
If that does not work. Make sure the ISP is not blocking any ports. Usually cable providers do not unless you have one of their business gateways. If you have a business gateway then you will need to have them bridge the gateway to the router.
Thanks James
pbmaster2k89,
Are you using DSL or Cable for ISP? Also is your ISP providing you with a standard modem or is it a gateway? The difference between the two A modem will have one input and one output. A Gateway will have 4 inputs and 1 output.
Please advise.
Thanks James
Hello pbmaster2k89,
Try Disabling the Enhanced Network Security. To do so please follow the below instructions.
1.)Click the network button and then select WebCam Server.
2.) On the General Tab make sure the Enhanced Network Security is disabled.
3.) Save settings.
Now you should be able to enable the JPG/GIF.
Thanks James
Hello Chonas,
Please see the following PDF
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/downloads/geovision/gvwatchdogreboot.pdf
This should fix your issue.
Thanks James
Hello Chucky,
If you have two separate GeoVision DVR's on the same network you must change the http port so they are different as well. By deafault the GeoVisions http port is set to 80. On one of the machines you will need to change it to something different like 81. Once you do this , in the GV-iVIEW App you will need to type in the ip address:81 for the port number. Also in the port field below type in the Mobile port 8866 or 8867 depending on the DVR.
I hope this helps.
Thanks James
Are the ports showing open?
Eric,
Thank You for posting. The NUUO cards include cables that connect to those DVI connections which have short BNC cables for the Audio and Video ports. Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Are all of the ports showing open? Including the one that you changed?
Also if you changed the http port from 80 to say 8000. You will have to type in https://ipaddress:8000. Make sure you type in https:// before the ip address and than :port numeber you changed the http port to.
I hope this helps
Thanks James
Make sure the following ports are open.
80
4550
5550
5511
8866
You can use this tool to see if they are open or closed. https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool

Leo2011,
CCTV Camera Pros is not a distributor of Eyemax DVRs, so I am not familiar with them. However, I will give you some troubleshooting techniques that may help. These steps are typically used on any brand DVR.
1) Try going into the DVRs configuration and making it so that the disk space is automatically overwritten when full. Most DVRs have a selling like this.
2) If that does not work, power your DVR down, open your DVR and disconnect the hard drive. Boot it up without the HDD connected and see if you have the same problem. If that solves the problem, you may have a bad HDD.
3) As long as you do not have any surveillance footage that you do not need to keep. Go into your DVRs settings and re-format the hard drive.
I hope this helps to solve the problem you are having.
Sincerely.
-Mike Haldas

Hello dmarr35,
It sounds like you may not have the Port Forwarding configuration setup. Here are the step by step instructions For the JPEG 2000 remote view configuration. https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DVR-Viewer-Connection-s/227.htm
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

App Update: there is now a native iPhone app for the our iDVR recorders and it is one of the best iPhone apps for CCTV cameras in our opinion (and we test a lot of apps).
Click here to see additional screen shots of the iPhone app: iDVR Remote DVR Viewer Image Gallery. The remote viewing also works with iPad, Android, and Mac computers (screen shots of those devices can be seen in the image gallery as well).
Here is a link to a PDF file that contains the Geovision software upgrade instructions:
Hello kylejb2663,
Squiggly lines can be from a number of things such as cable interference, bad terminations and the most common insufficient amount of power.
You stated that you are using a PTZ camera. Most PTZ cameras do typically require a higher amperage power source because of the motorized lens , heater/blower etc. I would check with Q-see and make sure the power box provided will work with the PTZ camera in addition to the other 8 cameras.
Second I would check the cable being used. We CCTV Camera Pros have had issues with PTZ cameras and Plug-n-Play cables (pre-terminated cables)I would make sure you are using RG59 Siamese cable for the video and power of the PTZ camera.
If it is interference more commonly known as a ground loop you can use our Ground Loop Isolators.
I hope this helps.
Thanks James
Hello Helano,
Yes you can change the http port from 80 to any available port such as 8000 or 8080.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Bo,
Thank You for posting your question to our forum. You can use either of these wireless network cameras to accomplish what you are trying to do:
The Zavio F312A provides VGA resolution (640 x 480) and is available from CCTV Camera Pros for $179.99.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f312a.htm
The Zavio F3106 provides 1.3 megapixel resolution and is available from CCTV Camera Pros for $219.99.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Network-Camera-p/zavio-f3106.htm
You also need a wireless router, such as a simple one from LinkSys or D-Link for example.
Although these routers are typically used for Internet access, you can also use them to create a local wireless network between your laptop and the camera.
Connect the laptop via a cat-5 cable to the wireless router, then configure the Zavio IP camera to connect to the router via WIFI.
You will then be able to access the camera from a web browser on your laptop. You can use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome.
Please let us know if we can help further.

Hello Robnhull,
Have you tried updating the firmware? You can do so here https://zavio.com/
If that does not work you may want to try running the camera using the JPEG stream instead of the MPEG4.
Last try loading the camera back to its factory defaults.
Thanks James
whs,
With the JM-IRS if you go to registering site on the main screen of the software it will allow you to save the DVR info.
Thanks James
jhutchins,
Thank You for posting your questions on the forum. If you email me a layout that notes the areas that you want covered by video surveillance, we can give you a complete quote. Being that your building already has a wired and wireless network, it will likely make sense for you to consider IP cameras. Please check out the Geovision IP cameras that we supply. They are a great choice because they include NVR software. Please email the building layout to mike@cctvcamerapros.net.
Thank you.
The ICON setup and time stamp have to be setup on the physical DVR. It cannot be setup remotely. Unfortunately the JPEG DVR does not support this function. Once you setup the display setup within the DVR. You can see the icons and time stamp remotely.
Thanks James
Hello whs,
Do you have a model # for the DVR you are using?
Thanks James
Hello WHS,
Flashing "M" usually indicates that you are recording based upon motion events. This is most likely why the DVR is not recording all of the time.
Thanks James
Hello Tracy,
We have free technical services for existing customers. If you would like you can call me directly at 888-849-2288 x 87. It would probably be easier this way.

sekhar210,
Two way audio is not supported from iPhone.
the_muq,
Thanks for posting that fix!
Bg,
Thank you for posting your question to our support forum. Here is the solution for you. You can crimp both ends of your RG6 cable with a BNC connector. This one on our website is for RG59 but we also carry BNC crimp on connectors for RG6.
Here is the one for RG59.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-Crimp-p/bncmalecrim.htm
Then on the TV end you can use a BNC to RCA converter which will allow you to connect your TV's RCA video input.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-p/bncfemaletorcamale.htm
If you call us tomorrow after 9:00 AM EST we can place the order for you over the phone being that the RG6 BNC connector is not on our website.
Please let us know if we can help further.
The GV-VS04H network video server supports iPhone access using the free GV-Eye HD iPhone app. See the below video for a demonstration of the video server connected to 4 CCTV cameras being viewer remotely over the Internet from an iPhone.
Another nice thing is that the App can connect to multiple servers so are not limited viewing only one set of 4 cameras. Also the app works with all Geovision IP cameras.

Visit this page for more information on this amazing device: https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-Network-Video-Server-p/gv-vs04h.htm
Hello Bluetick,
Unfortunately the CATV input on your TV is not the same as a video input and can only accept input from a cable or satellite source. It would not work if you were to try to connect any other video device such as a DVR or camcorder into it either. The video will display correctly if the quad processor is plugged directly into a RCA video input of the TV. If you are using a cable with BNC connectors on both ends, you will need BNC to RCA converter.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
PatDee,
For any CCTV DVR that does not support remote viewing from iPhone, iPad, and Android, CCTV Camera Pros recommends our 4 channel network video server which you can find here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-Network-Video-Server-p/gv-vs04h.htm
That page contains some screenshots and a demo video that you can watch. There are also some installation examples for people with existing DVRs that want to enable remote mobile viewing.
This device have a free iPhone app called GV-Eye which you can download here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gv-eye/id427126976?mt=8
There is a high definition version of the app for iPad that you can download here:

and these outdoor cameras for starters:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Vandal-Dome-Camera-p/dpro-as700.htm
I believe that weatherproof, vandal dome cameras will be best for outdoor near the ocean.
Please call us if you would like to discuss in more detail or reply to this thread with any questions.
RoddyJoff,
I am sorry but CCTV Camera Pros does not carry AVtech DVRs. If it ends up not working out for you, you may want to check out our iDVR which is one of the best DVRs on the market for remote Internet viewing, including iPhone, Android, and iPad:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Video-Surveillance-DVR-s/424.htm
As another alternative choice, you can use this 4 channel network video server as an add-on to any DVR to enable remote camera viewing from PC and mobile cell phones:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-Network-Video-Server-p/gv-vs04h.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.

G: Ground (used for all Sensor ports)
S1: Input Sensor 1
S2: Input Sensor 2
S3: Input Sensor 3
S4: Input Sensor 4
I hope this helps

I am sorry that you are having trouble. Yes, we found that model to have some problems like you are describing after they are in service in the heat for a while. We have since replaced that model camera with this one:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-CCTV-Camera-p/bipro-s600vf12.htm
The S600VF12 has been tested now for over a year in warm temperatures in South Florida and has an RMA rate of almost zero.
If your BIPRO-EC550VF bullet camera is out of warranty, I will do my best to give you special replacement pricing on using the S600VF12.
Please email me at mike@cctvamerapros.net.
I apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused you.
Sincerely.
-Mike
pickthisone,
CCTV Camera Pros does not have an integrated surveillance camera with battery and solar power at this time, however, you can use a battery or solar power source to power any of our network IP cameras or CCTV cameras.
If you want to make any camera wireless, we have an add-on wireless system for security cameras. On the bottom of that page, there is an example installation that can explain in more detail how to use with CCTV cameras.
If you want to view CCTV cameras from an iPhone, you must connect them to either a network video server or a Internet capable surveillance DVR.
If you are going to also record on site, our iDVR is an excellent choice. Here is a link to an article that shows some screenshots and a video of the iPhone app that is included for free. This app is one of the best surveillance iPhone apps available for CCTV:
Please let us know if we can help further.
Hello Rorservices,
Do you have the model number of the DVR?

Geodesist,
I'm not sure what is going on with the CMS lite link. If you would like you can download the CMS Software here https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Surveillance-DVR-Downloads-s/82.htm This CMS program is also much nicer.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Geodesist,
Also the iDVR-E has a free app available in the Android and iPhone app market. It is way nicer than using the web browser interface. The name of the app is MobileCMS.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

TexasDon,
Thank You for posting on our surveillance forum. Hardware manufacturers only make software specifically for their DVRs. There is no universal remote viewing software that I know of that will work with a PC based surveillance DVR from on manufacturer and a stand alone DVR from another.
I am sorry but I do not think this exists.
Thanks.
-Mike
patrickhenry,
Thank You for posting and letting us know that you found the issue. This has been noted and next time we publish an update to the iCamViewer app, we will make it so that the camera name is a required field to avoid confusion.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Hello Bev,
Unfortunately I am not familiar with the DVR. You may want to contact the vendor you purchased the unit from, they should be able to give you some incite.
Thanks James
I have a black box netrome security system, and I would like to know if I can access my cameras on my iPad. I download several apps to my iPad but nothing seems to work
Bev
Renny,
It depends on the DVR. Do you have the model # of the DVR?
dav,
That is correct you can use the webcam server anywhere in the world as long as you have internet connectivity. If you want to connect via a web browser you will need to use Internet Explorer. You need to type in your ip address in the URL. Once you log in you will need to install the active X controls.
You can also use the GeaVision Remote Client software which can be downloaded here https://usavisionsys.com/download/file.php?category=1&file=f899139df5e1059396431415e770c6dd
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hello Renny,
It depends on the DVR. Some DVRs may not have this feature. But typically it is available. You should be able to change the grid format to only display the 8 cameras. Or available with some DVRs there is a setting to enable or disable certain channels.
I hope this helps
Thanks James
Hey Dav,
Are you sure the ports are opened? You can use this tool to make sure https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool
You will need to make sure the following ports are open.
80
4550
5550
8866
5511
I hope this helps.
Thanks James
Sibannac,
You may want to try uninstalling the software and reinstalling. Also if that does not work please try upgrading to the newest version of software which is 8.4.
Thanks James
Hello SERT1998,
For this application you will need two separate items seen below. First the cameras will need to be ran through one of our Multiplexers and then you will go out to our VDS-1008 8 channel video splitter.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Hey Jomma5,
Try downloading the Multiview Client software https://usavisionsys.com/download/file.php?category=1&file=f899139df5e1059396431415e770c6dd
Please let me know if you are still having issues.
Thanks James
Hello Sert1998,
You will need a device called a BNC video splitter or video distribution box like this one:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Video-Distribution-Box-p/vds-1004.htm
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Hey jomma5,
Are you sure the ports are opened? You can use this tool to make sure https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool
If your ports are reading closed and you have DSL you will have to give them a call and have them bridge the modem they provided to the 3rd Party Linksys router.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Yes this has to be done at the Physical DVR. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hey Guys,
Follow these instructions and make sure all your settings are configured correctly. https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
Please let me know if you have any questions
James
Hello WHS,
The password for the k.lock is the password that your DVR is set to. By default the JPEG DVR does not have a password set. If you never set a password than you would just leave the entry blank and press enter.
If you have forgotten your password than here are the password reset instructions https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/surveillance-DVR-support-s/131.htm#dvr-password-reset-instructions
I hope this helps.
Thanks James
Hello Taurean25,
Do you have a make or model of the DVR. Was the DVR purchased through us CCTV Camera Pros?
Thanks James
boterito, ravismart,
Thank You for posting on our CCTV surveillance forum.
The iDVR from CCTV Camera Pros supports remote viewing video surveillance using blacklberry mobile phones. Please refer to the instructions on this support forum thread:
You can see more information here about the iDVR CCTV DVR with Blackberry camera viewing.
i have a black berry 9700
and also have a DVR i would like to see the cameras from my black berry by ip.
please tel me how to do it
Ohseurope,
GV IP Cameras are digital cameras and and typically run only over the RJ45 type connector. For Ustream and dazzle devices it will only accept a camera with a composite signal. So BNC or RCA will be fine.
Thanks James
Hello Ohseurope,
Your best bet when using Ustream is to use a standard analog CCTV camera https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Best-Infrared-Surveillance-Cameras-s/336.htm
Once you have a camera you would need the RCA to USB device, such as the pinnacle dazzle video capture device. This will allow the CCTV Camera to upload to the U-Stream service. https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Live-Streaming-Cameras-s/395.htm
Thanks James
Hello Karlkawano,
Unfortunately the GV-iView does not support audio. The last time I checked there is nothing on the market that supports mobile audio.
Please let me know if you have any quetsions.
Thanks James
Crow,
Yes with the any business Gateway/Modem combo device you will need to bridge the device to your router.
Thanks James
Philippe,
There is a 12 port text sender dongle available which installs onto the dvr. It should work but there may be tons of tech support involved POS = Pain in the Rear.
I hope this helps.
Thanks
Luke,
Are you using a user account that has the privilege setup to be able to view the cameras remotely. If so check and make sure you are using the correct password.
Also what ports have you forwarded?
Thanks James
Phiippe ,
Thanks for the info.
James
Crow,
Are you sure the ports are open. You can make sure with this tool https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool
If they are reading closed I would first double check all of the port forwarding rules in the router to make sure you have all of the credentials filled in correctly.
Also if you have DSL or satellite provider and you are using a third party router in conjunction with a modem you will want to call them and ask them to bridge the modem to your router.
I hope this helps
Thanks James
Hello Crow,
Have you forwarded the ports for the GeoVision iPhone Setup?
80- HTTP
8866- LIVE VIDEO
5511- PLAYBACK
Thanks James
Hello Samuraidad,
You will be better off using our AMP-1002. It is an amplifier/splitter. It will do a better job with the split and should eliminate the quality drop issue you are having.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Philippe,
Are the additional monitors activated in windows?
Hello CapitalIT,
Unfortunately we do not have a 3rd party software that is compatible with your current setup. However by using either our GeoVision, NUUO , or our iDVR's you can setup your 3 DVR's on the client software provided and select specific cameras from any of the DVR's and position them any way you would like.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Hello Phillippe,
I have listed below the setup instructions for the GeoVision Digital Matrix.
Once the Monitors are active you can set different live views and screen divisions for each monitor.
1. On the main screen, click Configure, click Accessories, and select Digital Matrix Setting.
2. Use the Display list to select the monitor to be configured.
3. Select Screen Division.
4. Drag and drop the camera numbers to the desired positions on the divisions. To clear the
assignment, drag and drop the C icon to that position.
5. Select Live Mode.
6. Repeat above steps to configure other monitors.
7. Click OK to apply the settings.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Hello Shihs,
You can use our NUUO NVR mini NAS recorders seen here https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Network-Video-Recorder-s/299.htm
This will act as a recorder for your DCS 5300 IP cameras and will also allow you to view the cameras and the reordered video from a remote location.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
ptuzla,
Unfortunately, the iCamViewer iPhone app does not support remote audio. I do not know of any iPhone app that does.
Thanks.
-Mike
Brien,
Please check out the following megapixel surveillance IP camera:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Megapixel-Surveillance-Camera-p/vivotek-ip8161.htm
It fulfills all of your requirements except it is more money than you want to spend.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Apadana,
Some surveillance DVRs have a logging system built into them where the DVR logs each time a user logs into the DVR. If your DVR has such a log, I would recommend looking at it to see what activity has been going on.
If you want to make sure this employee does not view your cameras again, there are several things that you can do:
- Make sure there is no network connection available near the DVR
- Disable all outside access to your network on your router
- If you have other network devices that must be accessed from the Internet, just disable the ports that your DVR uses
- Make sure that only you have the password to your router so the settings can not be changed

Hello Geodesist,
To open the contacts on the iDVR-E4 take a small tipped screwdriver and push in the gray square above the receptacle you wish to use. Then insert the wire and release the square.
I hope this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros on our support forum. Please check out NUUO IP camera software.
NUUO provides a free iPhone app to view all of your IP cameras that are connected to the NUUO surveillance system. You can find more information about the NUUO iViewer iPhone app here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nuuo-iviewer/id362310181?mt=8
CCTV Camera Pros also provides a FREE iPhone app for IP cameras that is compatible with Zavio IP cameras, however, at this time the app only supports viewing up to 8 cameras. You can download that app for free here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.

Hello Aaron,
Unfortunately it does not stream the camera names on the app. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I have the system working well except for one minor issue. I have renamed all the cameras on the GV server, but they still come up as camera 1, camera 2, etc in iView. Is there a way to have the camera names transfer to the phone as well? It's software version 8.3.1 on the server
donnybrasko,
Please let us know the manufacturer and model of the camera that you want to use. Our development team can integrate new cameras very quickly into the app.
You can also email us at icamviewer@cctvcamerapros.net
Thanks.

Tracy5186,
The default port for Zavio IP cameras is 80. That is the http port which is the one you use for iCamViewer and web browser access.
In order to access two IP cameras that are on the same network from remotely over the Internet you need to configure the cameras on different ports, so one of them need to change from 80 to something else. I would recommend using 8000. The reason that you need to use different ports for the two cameras is because you need to setup port forwarding on your router for both cameras and you can not have two devices use the same port number otherwise your router would not know which one to forward requests to on port 80.
To configure two cameras for iCamViewer access:
- Set one camera to port 8000
- You can keep the other camera on the default port 80
- Setup port forwarding on your router for both cameras, using ports 80 and 8000
- Configure the cameras in iCamViewer
Let us know if you have additional questions.
Tracy5186,
Thank You for sharing the solution to this problem!
Hello Tracy5186,
Are you using Leopard or Snow Leopard OS?
Hello Obtuse90,
Most likely 3G connection will not do the trick. We recommend at least 300-400 kbps for upload minimum. It will be hard to do that with a 3G Hot spot. You may want to get with Verizon to see if they can get you an estimate of what the upload may be at the location you are setting up the DVR. Please let me know if you have any questions.
robertepstein,
Thank You for contacting us. Yes, we can help you with any requirements that you have for CCTV cameras and surveillance systems. Please let us know what you are looking for? You can email us at info@cctvcamerapros.net
Thanks.
-Mike
Johnjay,
What version are you running on your GV system?
James
Hello Mintz,
Yes what you are trying to do is possible. You will need to change the mobile ports. You can keep DVR A at the default 8866(Live) and 5511(Playback). For DVR B you can change the mobile ports to say 8080(Live) and 5512(Playback).
I hope this helps.
Thanks James
CDavid,
You are currently running 8.0?
Hello Ver,
Usually you are not able to format the HDD remotely. Depending on the model of the DVR the Verbage may be different but most likely it is the same concept. If you go into the DVR menu it should be in the Disk Menu or HDD management. Their should be able to reformat the HDD in this menu. Also not you will need to stop recording in order to reformat the HDD.
Concept,
The port you should be using is 8866 for live viewing & 5511 for Playback
Thanks
Hello Riversoft,
Here is a link to the settings that need to be applied to your Geo Vision System https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-WebCam-Server-Setup-s/124.htm
Below are instruction to setup your GV-800 & Thomson TG82 for remote viewing.
1.)Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser. By default the IP address should be set to 10.0.0.138.
2.)You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are blank. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
3.)Click the Advanced link near the left of the page.
You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click NAPT. Click the New link near the bottom of the page.
4.)You will need to create 3 different rules.
Rule 1:
Protocol: TCP
Inside IP: Ip address of your GV system
Inside and Outside Port: 4550
Rule 2:
Protocol: TCP
Inside IP: Ip address of your GV system
Inside and Outside Port: 5550
Rule 3:
Protocol: TCP
Inside IP: Ip address of your GV system
Inside and Outside Port: 80
5.)When you're finished, click Save All near the left of the screen to save your changes.
6.)Once you have saved the settings go to https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool and type in the port number that you have forwarded. Make sure it is open. If the port is closed proceed to the next step.
7.)If you have DSL for you internet service you will need to call your provider and have them bridge the modem to your Thomson router. This is a standard process.
Hope This Helps.
Thanks James
Hello Larangines,
Unfortunately once the video is lost it is gone for good, there is no way to recover it.
Thank you Thomas!!
Awesome!!!
htt72,
Typically the HDD does need to be formatted to FAT 32 but it may vary depending on the DVR. Does the DVR boot if you remove the HDD completely?
Tracy,
Glad to hear that worked for you. Please let us know if CCTV Camera Pros can help in the future.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Hello Sir,
This is Vito with NUUO tech support. This issue sounds like a network issue. Would you please change the IP address of those Hikvision cameras to 10.3.1.0 subnet mask and try again? Thank you!
Vito
Have you tried replacing the Hard Drive?
htt72,
Have you tried reformatting the Hard Drive?
Tracy5186,
Thank you for using our support forum. Yes cat5e is recommended for Power over Ethernet IP cameras. Sometimes cat5 does not work especially at longer distances. You DO NOT need to make a crossover cable. Please just try cat5e.
Let us know if we can help further.
Thomas ,
Here are the setup instructions to setup the ptz for control via the remote client and web browser https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-WebCam-PTZ-Setup-s/167.htm
Hello Agitten37,
If you do not have a spot monitor output than you will need a video multiplexer seen herehttps://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Video-Multiplexers-s/76.htm
You will need to split the video signal from each of the eight cameras you would like the employee to view. You split the signal so that you can run into the DVR and the multiplexer on each of the eight cameras.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Hello Thomas,
In order to run the view log remotely you will need to forward port 5552. Once you forward this port it will allow you to connect. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
troyoff,
Thank You for posting to our surveillance forum. Please let me know if your customer needs an indoor or outdoor surveillance camera.
Most likely I would recommend using a single analog CCTV camera with of our our 4 channel iDVRs. If you have not seen info on the iDVR yet, please check them out here: H.264 stand alone DVRs.
Please let me know what you think and if you need outdoor or indoor surveillance.
Thanks.
-Mike
Golmer,
None of our DVRs have any negative side affect is you disconnect them from the network. For example, if you unplug the network cable from any of our DVRs, it does not impact the recording or anything else that is going on with the unit or settings programmed into it. Unfortunately, unless you purchased a CCTV Camera Pros DVR, I can not guarantee the same for your DVR. I would find it strange that any DVR would get messed up from disconnecting it from the network, but I guess it is possible.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Thanks.
-Mike
Cracine,
Please see the above post to vra1974 that explains the situation with the jpeg2000 DVR.
Thank You.
-Mike
geobot,
Is it only working on WIFI at the location where the Geovision surveillance recorder is located?
If so then, you need to make sure to setup port forwarding and that you are using the IP address of the Internet connection where the Geovision system is located. You can find more info on port forwarding your surveillance system here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm
I hope this helps.
Thanks.
-Mike
lisat00,
Does the attachment work in your email when not on the iPhone? Does it work if you send to a different email (not gmail)?
I would test these things to help figure out if the problem is with the that DVR or with the mail system.
Thanks.
-Mike
Hello Raqeeb,
You need to setup port forwarding on your router. The ip address you are trying to connect with is an internal ip address. That is why you are able to view it on site. Here are some instructions on how to setup port forwarding on common routers https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm Once you have have completed port forwarding you can go here to check and make sure the port is open https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool
Also if you have a DSL modem and a third party router you will need to call the ISP and have them bridge the modem to the router. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks James
Hello Minuteman3282,
Usually standalone DVRs come with software to either play the file or an avi converter so you convert the file type to play with any standard video player such as windows media etc. If you do not have the software you should try contacting the reseller or manufacturer you purchased the equipment from. They should be able to advise on were to download the software.
If you do have the password removal option enabled then here are the instructions on doing so https://usavisionsys.com/files/Password_Removal_Procedure_B03B0209.pdf
Hi Face155, here are the answers to your questions:
1- The Ethernet cable runs from your camera to your router, your router then assigns an IP address for that camera. You then enter that IP address into the Geovision system and adjust all the settings for the camera. From there the GeoVision system will manage all of the recordings, remote viewing and events such as motion etc.
2- The quality of the Geovision IP camera is excellent.
3- It does come with the software, but it only allows for a total of 16 cameras maximum both IP and Analog. If you need to add additional IP cameras you would need an additional software license seen here https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IP-Camera-Software-s/295.htm
I hope this information helps. Please let us know if we can further assist you.
skypemaster,
I apologize that CCTV Camera Pros does not supply parabolic microphones at this time. The only surveillance mics that we carry can be found on this page:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Audio-Surveillance-Microphones-s/243.htm
Unfortunately, we do not have much knowledge to offer on parabolic mics. Please let us know if we can help in the future.
Thanks.
-Mike
djp1n,
Sorry you are still having trouble. Thank You for testing the cable and power supply. Please request an RMA so we can get the camera back from you for warranty repair or replacement. You can make the return request here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/RMA-s/99.htm
We will process the testing for you quickly.
Thank You.
-Mike
djp1n,
The 1.5 amp is what we recommend for that camera. You can test with the 1 amp, but it may be a little underpowered with the IRs on. If you are not using the IRs, then the 1 amp will definitely be ok for testing.
Please let me know the outcome.
Thanks.
-Mike
djp1n,
Thank You for reporting this issue on the CCTV support forum. I am sorry to hear that you are having some trouble with your surveillance camera. This is the first case of this that has been reported to us on a BIPRO-S600VF12 camera. Based on what you described, it sounds like the IR cut filter is not properly being reset and shifting back to day time color mode when it should. Can you please let me know what power supply you are using with this camera? Also, if you have another power supply that you can test with, I recommend testing with another power supply as it may be a bad power supply.
If you continue to have problems, I recommend that you send the camera back to us so that we can test. Your camera is under warranty, so if it ends up being defective, we will replace it for you at no charge.
Please let us know if you have any other questions and if you need to send the camera back for testing and possible warranty replacement.
Sincerely.
-Mike
hengchan,
The VM-99516 16 channel CCTV multiplexer can support PAL or NTSC video modes. You can manually select which mode you want the multiplexor to run in my accessing the menu system, then selecting video system. Once the video system menu comes up you will see the following three options:
- AUTO : Auto detects NTSC or PAL, ir channel 1 camera is connected
- NTSC : Sets video system to NTSC mode
- PAL : Sets video to PAL mode
If your multiplexor is set to auto and that is not working correctly, please select NTSC mode to manually set.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Hello caisselirette,
If you are not using the default port which is 80. In the IP field you have to type in your ip address and then : 86. So it should look like this 192.168.1.102:86
Also if that does not work here are the step by step instruction. Confirm you have all settings correct.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
Thanks
James,
Great post. I had tried many years ago to create screen captures from Geovision to write support articles for the website. Nice find and nice post!
Thanks.
-Mike
The IP Cam Viewer is also compatible with Vivotek ,Zavio and DynaColor IP cameras seen here https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IP-Security-Cameras-s/83.htm Also this app is compatible with the EVO as well and I have tested this on version 2.2
umapathy,
Yes, it is possible to use video converters such as Pinnacle RCA to USB video caputure devices to do this. When using CCTV cameras you also typically need a BNC to RCA converter, because closed circuit cameras use BNC connectors, not RCA.
Here is outdoor wildlife camera that uses on of our S600VF12 outdoor CCTV cameras with a RCA to USB capture box and a windows PC. The video streams through uStream.
Sundance1,
I am sorry that you are still having trouble. We do offer a service where we can remotely login to your PC and setup the Geovision remote viewing for you. The cost of this service is $39.99 for 30 minutes of remote management. If we can not get it working, we do not charge you.
Please let us know if you are interested in having us set this up for you.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Creid,
Normally when you want to capture text output from a cash register or point of sale system, you use a POS surveillance module which records the actual text output on top of the video of one of the security cameras of your system. Unfortunately, there is no point of sale module for JPEG2000 DVRs.
The next best thing is to use a higher end / high resolution camera with a varifocal lens focused directly on the cash register screen. We have sold this high resolution security camera so many customers for this purpose:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/High-Resolution-Security-Camera-p/pro-630dn28.htm
If you need a camera with a larger lens because the camera will be mounted more than 20 feet away from the register, I recommend this high resolution surveillance camera:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/High-Resolution-Surveillance-Camera-p/pro-630dn60.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.
Tiki,
We do not recommend installing any firmware that you downloaded from our website unless you purchased your DVR from CCTV Camera Pros and are sure it is the correct model. It is not because we don't want you to use our formware updates. We actually try to help everyone out as much as possible with support, even for people that did not purchase equipment from us. It is one of the reasons that we have this support forum. We do not recommend using the firmware updaye because many times DVRs will look the same as the models that we offer by not in fact be made by the same manufacturer. There is a risk that incorrect firmware can damage your DVR.
If you did purchase the DVR from CCTV Camera Pros, please let me know the email address that was used for your order so that I may lookup and see which DVR you have. You can email your order information to info@cctvcamerapros.net.
Thank You.
-Mike
Sundance1,
Thank You for the kind words about our support forum. In order to access a Geovision system from outside of your network, you must make sure that you have port forwarding properly configured. Please take a look at the instructions here for Geovision webcam server remote access:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-WebCam-Server-Setup-s/124.htm
Apply the same port forwarding techniques described in that article to the GV-iView setup and you should be all set.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
Please let us know if we can hep further.
Thanks.
-Mike
salinity now,
Do you want to broadcast so that anyone can see the video from your camera?
clementwoo,
Most likely after you updated your firmware and rebooted your camera, the IP address changed. Please confirm that the IP address is correct and port forwarding is setup for the correct IP address.
Thanks.
-Mike
lindzywang,
Please let us know which DVR you are using so that we can help further. Did you get your DVR from CCTV Camera Pros?
Thanks.
-Mike
CNMF,
You do not need to forward the ports on both the router and the modem. First, you should ask your ISP to help you bridge the model so it no longer acts as a router. Then all router settings will be done at the linksys router. You can not have two devices on your network that both act as routers. This will prohibit you from accessing anything from outside of your network.
Also, I recommend that you get everything working with port forwarding first. Then after that is working, setup the DDNS. IF you try to do both at the same time, it is harder to troubleshoot.
CCTV Camera Pros response:
The system that I recommend would be a PC based NUUO IP recorder with 5 megapixel Arecont cameras. As long as those nine fiber connections create a single network for you, you can use a single centralized recorder. Each 5 Megapixel camera recording at 5 megapixel resolution at 7 frames per second recording would use 35mbps (megabytes per second of bandwidth). So for 21 of them, the total network bandwidth used would be 735 Megabytes per second. They definitely would nee a gigabit network dedicated to their system. This means that it is recommended that their surveillance system be put on a separate switch from the rest of the network and the switch should be a gigabit ethernet switch.
crystal202,
You can find a PDF manual for the discontinued MP416 DVR on this page:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Surveillance-DVR-Manuals-s/79.htm
I am sorry but because that model was discontinued over 2 years ago, remotes, accessories, and software updates are no longer available for it. H.264 requires a certain type of hardware so even if there were software updates available, this unit would never use H.264 compression. The MP416X2 software is not compatible with the MP416.
If you are considering the purchase of a more up to date DVR, I recommend that you take a look at our iDVR series:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/H264-Stand-Alone-DVRs-s/358.htm
It is state of the art with H.264 compression and support for iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Windows remote viewing. Even though your original DVR was not purchased from CCTV Camera Pros, we can give you special pricing on a replacement if you are interested. Please email sales@cctvcamerapros.com or call 888-849-2288 if you are interested.
Thank You.
beatsie,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your system. Please give us a call at 888-849-2288 so that we can help you. We may also need to login to your system over the Internet. Please have your order id or the contact information for the person that made the purchase.
Thanks.

Hello MMSJLtd,
Please Refer to this post https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/support/topic/jpeg-h264-dual-codec-surveillance-dvr-internet-viewing-failure
Thanks
BT,
There is no iPhone app that I know of that lets you record video from an IP camera to your iPhone. The closest thing to that is the uStream broadcaster and uStream viewer, but you do not use IP cameras with it. You can use CCTV cameras though.
Hello leonleoj,
It will be supported on GeoVision 8.4
Thanks
Mark,
Please let us know what camera and DVR you are using. Is this equipment from CCTV Camera Pros?
Thanks.
-Mike
zan12uk,
For now, the only way to view a CCTV camera using the iCamviewer iPhone app is to attach each CCTV camera that you want to view to a supported network video server. Both of these models are compatible with the iCamViewer:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-Network-Video-Server-p/v111t.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Video-Encoder-p/vivotek-vs7100.htm
We make develop a native iPhone app for the iDVR later this year.
Thank you.
-Mike
Amanda,
If you are running Internet explorer 8 try following these instructions. https://support.nuuo.com/mediawiki/index.php/Why_my_IE8_doesn%27t_work_well_with_software_version_3.2%3F. Also adjust the UAC to the lowest level. You can find that by going into the start menu > control panel >user accounts > user account control.
And here are the instructions for the blackberry setup:
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/support/topic/geovision-blackberry-support-and-setup-instructions
Also how do i access the geovision on my blackberry curve?
Hello
I just bought a new laptop that has windows 7. Im am trying to start the online access to my camera system (geovison 1480) and coming across this problem.
I have a problem with connection with WIN 7. "No windows permission to OCX" Can you help me?
where do i start. I need to watch my shop while i am away.
slime,
I am sorry that you are having trouble with the iCamViewer iPhone app. This is the app that you are referring to correct?
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/icamviewer/id346469891?mt=8
Please delete the app from your phone and reinstall it. Can you please let me know which camera you are trying to use with it?
If you want me to call you today to help you, please email me your contact info at mike@cctvcamerapros.net. I have a demo camera setup that you can log into to test also.
Thanks.
-Mike
We recommend LinkSys routers. They are the easiest for us to support and perform very well also. We have port forwarding instructions for LinkSys routers here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/LinkSys-Port-Forwarding-s/122.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.
A customer recently contacted CCTV Camera Pros looking for a megapixel IP camera with the following requirements:
I'm wondering if you could advise of a camera product that would satisfy all or most of these features:
– Megapixel (preferably)
– outdoor use
– IP (built-in server)
– PTZ (remote through ip client)
– full time NTSC video out (for supplying an "in-house" channel) – still works even if IP client is accessing
– on-board storage (memory card – for several hours of history / high resolution stills stored forever during alarm events)
– 2-way audio
– day and night (low light) imaging
Here is CCTV Camera Pros reply:
Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. I am not aware of any megapixel PTZ camera on the market. The idea behind megapixel is to actually phase out PTZ.
Check out this megapixel model (non-ptz):
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-Megapixel-Camera-p/vivotek-ip7361.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.
The customer followed up with:
Thanks for the suggestion – that is a fairly good grouping of the options I was looking for. Would I be able to get a simultaneous "video out"?
CCTV Camera Pros reply:
Although that megapixel camera does not have an analog video output, that camera is compatible with this IP camera to analog decoder which basically can give you an analog/CCTV output with BNC anywhere on the network that the IP camera is on:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Video-Decoder-p/vivotek-rx7101.htm
Please let me know if you have any questions about how to use this product.
gppazzia,
I also found a video on the verizon fios https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgHRe49a7xg
Also weather you have a stactic ip address or dynamic, you might want to call your isp to confirm but all of the verizon fios routers that i dealt with are dynamic ip addresses.
Thanks James
gppazzia,
I found these instructions on how to do port forwarding on Actiontec routers:
https://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Actiontec/MI-424-WR/Echolink.htm
I hope that this helps you.
PHowell,
I believe that we spoke on the phone or via email and resolved all of these issues. If they are not resolved, please let me know.
Sincerely.
-Mike
koim,
Does it work OK if you lower the frame rate? Are you sure that your Geovision card is compatible with the latest software version? You may want to contact Geovision to make sure that your card can support version 8.3. You can contact Geovision at download@geovision.com.tw.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Thanks.
-Mike
gw1964
Did you change the port from 80 to 8888 in the GeoVision Webcam Server Settings?
Thanks James
pimpf,
Unfortunately, there is only the Windows remote clients for the JPEG2000 DVRs. There is no Linux software available as far as we know.
Please let us know if we can help in the future.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Steve,
Have you tried restoring the DVR back to the factory default?
An existing NUUO customer contacted us and asked the following related question:
I purchased a NUUO surveillance system a while back and they have been working well. In reference to the remote viewer, it appears that I am limited to 16
connections, is there a way of increasing that number or is there a client I could install on multiple pcs so that I could view all 6 cameras on 5 different PC at on time. That would be a total of like 30
connections.
CCTV Camera Pros reply:
The NUUO remote live view client supports up to 25 cameras on one screen. You can create multiple screens. The cameras can all be at the same location or at multiple locations. This is the remote live view client that I am talking about that is on the NUUO CD. The web browser view is different that the remote view client and supports up to 16 cameras on one screen.
If you are using the NUUO remote live view client and do not see support for up to 25 cameras, you may need to upgrade to the latest version of NUUO. I believe that it was a fairly recent release that began support for 25 cameras on one screen. You can download the latest version of NUUO software here:
From the Main Console, you must press the "Configure" button (bottom of screen, 3rd from left), click "General Setting" then click System Configure (or press "F9" on your keyboard). This pulls up the System Configure dialog box. In the center area of the screen in the "Video Log Storage" section, press the "Set Location" button. Then press "Storage Group Folder". Click "Remove Storage" for the FGV800 location. Then Click the "Add Storage" icon at the top left and choose the cameras you wish to record in this location (usually all). Then press the "add new path" folder icon and choose the file path to the D: location. Click "OK" to save setting.
Follow up questions from customer:
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your prompt response.
One more question, will the iDVR-E8 support GV-iView for my iPhone 3GS access? Is the remote viewing software similar to Netviewer v. 1.2?
Response from CCTV Camera Pros:
You can access the iDVR from the safari web browser on your iPhone. Here is a link to a video that shows how it works. Remote access will work with WIFI or 3G access from your iPhone.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/iPhone-CCTV-DVR-Viewer-s/364.htm
The GV-iView iPhone app is used for Geovision surveillance camera systems, not our iDVR stand alone DVR system.
Please let me know if I can help further.
-Mike
yarlock,
Thank you for posting to our surveillance support forum. Please let us know if you are using a DVR from CCTV Camera Pros so that we can help you. You can find our DVRs here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Surveillance-DVRs-s/23.htm
Thanks.
-Mike
Please see the response that was posted here:
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/support/topic/cant-access-zavio-f312a-via-3g-or-internet
PHowell,
In order to access your camera remotely either from our iCamViewer or directly from the Safari (or other) web browser, you must setup port forwarding to your camera. Please take a look at the port forwarding instructions on this page:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm
After you setup port forwarding, to access your cameras from outside of your local network (LAN) you must use the WAN IP address of the location of your camera, which is the IP address of your internet connection. You can lookup this address by using our IP address lookup tool here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Get-IP-Address-s/174.htm
Last, if your internet connection uses a dynamic IP address (which means your ISP can change it from time to time) you will want to use a dynamic dns service so that you can enter a hostname instead of an IP address when you access remotely. The DynDns service keeps track of when your IP address changes and you never need to worry about it. You can read more about this here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm#dynamic-dns-setup
If your Internet connection has a static IP address, you can just use the IP all the time and you do not need to use DDNS.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.
-Mike
irishcrows,
Yes you must use either a GV-COM or GV-NET to control PTZ cameras with Geovision:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/geovision-gv-com-p/gv-com.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/geovision-gvnet-card-p/gv-net.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.
Thanks.

Follow up questions from the customer:
Please see answers below:
-
As clarification: I do or don't need a computer connected to the DVR to view the cameras remotely? I am really looking for something to monitor on my smartphone and really don't want to leave a computer connected to the DVR.
That is correct. You do not need a computer connected to the DVR to view the cameras remotely. You only need a computer if you want to view from a computer. If you will access from mobile, then no PC is required.
You are correct. The video streamed to mobile is much smaller than to a computer and requires less bandwidth. The frame rate that you get on your phone will be dependent on how fast your Internet connection from your phone is.
PTZ controls are not yet supported for the mobile access of this DVR.
Yes, you can see some screenshots of the blackberry DVR viewer here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/H264-Stand-Alone-DVRs-s/358.htm#blackberry-dvr-viewer
You can find blackberry setup instructions here:
Please let us know if we can help further.
In you example above you said you were inputting the ip address as seen here https://xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5150. You do not not put :5150 or 5160 you would just type in your ip address and once you do that it will bring you to your Nuuo remote view screen and there you can choose whether you want to view Live or Playback.
Thanks James
Jamie
If you are using the NVR Mini the ports that need to be forwarded are 80(http),5150(Live),5160(Playback) If you kept 80 as the http you do not have to put :5150, you would just type in your ip address. Please try this that should take care of the issue. Also if you did change the http port (80) to something other than 80 lets say for example 8000 you would enter https://ipaddress:8000
Thanks James
irishcrows,
You can create a PTZ tour with up to 64 preset points. Note the number of preset points also depends on your PTZ capacity.
To setup a PTZ camera tour using your Geovision system, follow these instructions:
- Click the Configure button, point to Accessories, and select Camera Mapping PTZ Dome. This camera mapping dialog box appears.
- Select a camera channel from the Camera drop-down list.
- Select the PTZ model connected to the selected channel from the Device drop-down list.
- If you have two identical PTZ cameras set in the system, you may use the Address drop-down list
to choose the one with the correct address. Up to 64 addresses can be supported.
- Select Multi Position Tour on the Camera Mapping Setup dialog box, and click the Setting button. This dialog box appears.
- Select a Preset as a start point.
- Set the Dwell Time that the PTZ will remain in a preset.
- Click Add and repeat Steps 2-3 to build more points in the tour.
- Select Tour Schedule on the Camera Mapping Setup dialog box, and click the
Setting button. This Tour Schedule dialog box appears.
- Select Span 1, specify a period of time, and select a camera behavior to be activated during the
defined time period.
- Set another span.
- If you want to apply a different setting to weekends, select Weekend Apply and select a camera behavior. And define whether the weekend includes Saturday or not.
- Click OK to apply the settings.

Saloonguy,
What GV Software are you currently running? I believe there was a problem with the beta version that was on 8.3 software if you are running this software you should upgrade to 8.33
Thanks James
vra1974,
There is a way to view your cameras on the iPhone while using the jpeg2000 stand alone DVR. You need to add a video server/encoder to each of the cameras that you wish to view. If you use the video loop out for the channel you want to view and attach the loop out to this video encoder:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Video-Encoder-p/vivotek-vs7100.htm
Then you can view the camera on the iPhone using safari or using CCTV Camera Pros FREE iphone app, the iCamViewer:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Hello Michael,
You should check your Upload speed at the site of the GeoVision Server and were you are trying to remotely view the cameras. You can do a speed test here https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest. For 32 Cameras you would want 1.5 to 2 meg upload.
Thanks James
antona,
Another option is to use the Geovision IP software (NVR software) as seen here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-NVR-Software-p/gv-nvr.htm
The Geovision IP camera software also includes the Geovision 8.32 software that James was referring to that supports iPhone viewing with the GV-iView iPhone app.
I hope this helps.
Thanks.
-Mike
Hello Tomas243
if you are running Internet explorer 8 try following these instructions. https://support.nuuo.com/mediawiki/index.php/Why_my_IE8_doesn%27t_work_well_with_software_version_3.2%3F. Also adjust the UAC to the lowest level. You can find that by going into the start menu > control panel >user accounts > user account control.
James
Antona,
Using an application similar to what you are using now it is possible to view from an iphone. You would need a video server that is compatible with iphone like this Zavio video server https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-Network-Video-Server-p/v111t.htm Unfortunately they do not make a two port server so you would have to purchase one for each camera. Once you have the servers setup you can view from your iphone going right through the safari web browser https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/iPhone-Setup-for-Zavio-IP-Cameras-s/349.htm Or you can use the free iphone app provided by CCTV Camera Pros which is compatible with the Zavio & Vivotek Servers and Cameras. https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm
many thanks. i knew dvr card is supported by unfortunately my pc is a book pc rather than a full blown computer (i.e. no normal expansion card slot) and i prefer not to have my pc turned on all year round. so i guess there is no solutions then.
thx anyways!
Antona,
The GV-VS02 will not allow you to log in via Iphone or Android. You would need a GeoVision DVR card with 8.32 software or later which you can find here https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-DVR-Cards-s/27.htm
with this you would be able to view via iphone, blackberry and other supported phones which can be found here https://usavisionsys.com/files/Mobile.pdf Im not sure if android is supported.
Hope this helps
James
Onem,
Thank You for posting the solution that you can get Zavio cameras working on Snow Leopard by running safari in 32 bit mode. I did not know that you could do that and it is great information for other users.
By the way, if you are a iPhone user, CCTV Camera Pros developed a free app, the iCamViewer, that is compatible with Zavio cameras. You can see more information and download the app for free here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm
Thanks again.
-Mike
Hey Wolverine,
I contacted Geovision and they recommended the DMMultiview Software to view your cameras without running Active X controls. You can find this software on your GeoVision Disk that came with your card or you can download from this link.
https://www.usavisionsys.com/download/file.php?category=1&file=f899139df5e1059396431415e770c6dd
Thanks James
I will look into that and see if they have a remote client that does not require Active X controls
Thanks James
Hey Wolverine,
Unfortunately GeoVision did away with the Remote Client software and the TCP/IP Server. The only way to get that feature you will have to downgrade your software to 8.2 or earlier. If you do choose to downgrade you will not be able to use the sweet I-Phone app as seen here https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
Thanks James
Gustavo,
If you are able to access on your local network but not remotely over the Internet, then most likely one of the following is the problem:
- Your port forwarding is not setup correctly
- Your modem has a firewall that needs to be disabled
- You are using DSL with a separate router and your DSL modem is not properly bridged
To setup your port forwarding, you must know what ports your DVR uses and you can refer to these instructions:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm#port-forwarding-setup
If you are using DSL and you need to find out if there is a firewall or if your DSL modem needs to be bridges to your router, you should contact your service provider.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.
-Mike
tgaras,
We have not tested with the Vivotek PT7137 model with the iCamViewer app. Other Vivotek 7000 series cameras so work though that we have tested. Can you please email me the login information to this camera so that we can test? You can email me at mike@cctvcamerapros.net.
Thanks.
-Mike
The zooming that you are experiencing is normal, and the speed issue is a bit frustrating as well but you might want to try using pelco P Protocol 9600 Baud rate That should help with the speed issue.
Vandepaul,
In the GeoVision System click on the Configure button(Hammer & Screw Driver)> System Configure > Camera Record Settings. You should be in the Camera Record Settings Page,First Select The Camera you want to configure. Under the Record Control you will see Frame/Sec Click the blue arrow across from the Frame/Sec. You should now be in the Rec. Frame Rate Settings. Check both boxes off and set the frame rate to a higher number and that will give you a smoother picture. You will have to repeat this for all of your cameras .
Light49,
Thank You for posting to the forum. Please note that you must forward ports 8866 and 5111 in addition to port 80 in order to use the Geovision GV-iView iPhone app. CCTV Camera Pros has successfully setup Geovision for iPhone access many times for both LAN and WAN (Internet) access using the following instructions:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
If you have not seen them already, please take a look. I hope this helps.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Hello Have you tried going through the setup instructions?
Here is a link this should get you through the setup also make sure your GeoVision System is running 8.32 software.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
tgaras,
Thank you for posting your question on our forum. In order to use Vivotek IP cameras with the iCamViewer iPhone app, you must set stream one on your camera to JPEG and 352 x 240 resolution for everything to work correctly. You can still have stream number 2 stream using MPEG-4 if you choose and at a higher resolution for recording to your NVR ( if you are using one ). Please let me know if you need further explanation.
Sincerely.
-Mike
prnopt,
I have a feeling that your camera does not have the latest firmware which is required for MAC and iPhone access. Can you please email me your orderid and/or first and last name the order was placed under so that I can provide you with the latest firmware?
Thanks.
-Mike, mike@cctvcamerapros.net
titan1966,
Although we are not familiar with your DVR or modem / router, the concepts for setup are basically the same for any DVR to be setup for remote access. Maybe you can refer to the instructions for one of our DVRs and improvise. You will need the manual for your Thomson Speedtouch 780 WL modem to know how to setup the port forwarding. You also need to find out for sure if it is in fact a router also.
Here are instructions for one of our DVRs:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DVR-Viewer-Connection-s/227.htm
I hope this helps.
Thanks.
-Mike
djdeb,
The DDNS and DHCP settings do overlap between the router and the DVR. This is the case for any IP device.
Some routers, like older LinkSys models do not let you setup static IP addresses for devices on your network so you must setup the static IP address for your devices using the device itself. I am referring to internal (LAN) IP addresses right now. I recommend setting your DVRs IP address using the DVR and like you said setting it way up at the high end of your routers DHCP range.
In regards to DDNS settings, again these setting can typically be managed by your router and by each device. My preference and recommendation is to use the router to manage your DDNS settings or to download and windows client and use dyndns.org. I found once that LinkSys was contacting the DDNS service too often and they disabled my account. So I switched to using the windows client (it is a small program that is always running on a windows PC connected to your network) that they provide and I never had that problem again. The downside to this method is the PC must always be running.
Last regarding the HTTP port, some ISPs are strange about incoming requests on port 80 so you may want to change that port if it causes you trouble and you are able to.
I hope this helps.
Thanks.
-Mike
Russell,
I doubt that Geovision would do it but you may want to check with AppBurst iPhone app development company. They are CCTV Camera Pros mobile development partners.
We recently completed development of the iCamViewer which is a FREE surveillance iPhone app that allows you to view up to 8 CCTV or IP cameras. Please click on this link to read more about it and to download it from iTunes:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm
Feel free to email me at mike@cctvcamerapros.net to discuss the custom iPhone app development further.
Sincerely.
-Mike
zan12uk,
Please follow these instructions to access the CCTV cameras connected to your DVR from your iphone:
- Open the Safari web browser from your iPhone
- Open the following web page: https://www.idvrviewer.com
- Enter your DVRs hostname or IP address, the default port is 7000
- Click the login button
You must access your DVR through that website at this time. We are in the process of developing the iDVR iPhone application which will be an actual iPhone app that will save all of these setting for you. This is scheduled to be completed and available in the app store within this month.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: there are now native iPhone and Android mobile apps to view your security cameras connected to your iDVR. The apps are available to download for free. Click on the preceeding link for more information and to download.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank You.
-Mike
Russ,
Have you upgraded to the very latest version of the Geovision software which is 8.3.2? This was recently released and is the first version to officially support the GV-iView app.
Reply from customer:
In the photo the total area that the individual targets are placed on is 36 inches x 36 inches. The individual targets that I staple to the surface vary in size and shape ( 8 inches to 12 inches in diameter) and are typically as shown in the photo.
The placement of the camera will be in front of and below the target. The minimum distance from the target has to be 8 feet to 10 feet but this distance can be increased as required.
The range is outdoors but the camera and equipment will be setup for the shooting session and put away when finished. Nothing will be left outside. This will be a portable system.
The re-sized photo looks great.
Response from CCTV Camera Pros:
I setup a test environment where I placed a 5 megapixel camera 10 feet away from an area about 3.5 feet wide. Please look at the attached pictures. I used the 5 megapixel camera and took still shots at 2 megapixels and 5 megapixel resolution. I took one shot with a simulated target with bullet holes using a standard 8.5 x 11 printer paper. I also took another shot without the target so you can see the clarity with text on the product box I used.
Click on the below link to see the 2 megapixel and 5 megapixel camera images:
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/images/megapixel-cameras/5-megapixel-security-camera-image.jpg
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/images/megapixel-cameras/2-megapixel-security-camera-image.jpg
I did not have a IP-V97161 out of the box to test with so I used the following 5 megapixel camera with a 4.5 to 13mm varifocal lens:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/5-Mega-pixel-Security-Camera-p/ip-av95105dn.htm
This is our top of the line megapixel camera so the image looks pretty amazing. I did compress the images before I emailed them so the quality is degraded slightly.
Please let me know what you think and if you have any other questions.
Russ,
Are you making sure that the LAN IP address that is assigned to your Geovision PC is static and not changing? Some routers like D-link allow you to assign network devices static IP addresses. You can see how to setup static IP addresses on a D-Link router here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DLink-Router-IP-Setup-s/162.htm
I would check this out in your troubleshooting. It is a common thing that happens when power is lost and your router reboots or your router reboots for any reason.
Follow up questions from gun range owner:
Mike,
I have one additional question. The target area is 36 in. x 36 in. There are multiple targets in that area as shown in the attached photo (taken with a HP Photosmart M22). Will I be able to zoom in and see each of the targets close enough to observe the bullet holes? If the IP-V97161 megapixel camera will give me an image like the attached photo it should work just fine.
Below is my latest updated diagram that shows how the wireless camera system and solar power will layout.
I have researched batteries, inverters and solar chargers. I know this is not your area of expertise but I thought you might be interested. I plan to build two boxes like small suitcases containing the battery inverter and solar charger. One will supply the notebook and one antenna, the other will supply the camera and other antenna. I still have to calculate the power requirements before I make any selections.
Inverters

Reply from CCTV Camera Pros:
Thank You for the links to those solar power, battery, and power inverter resources. We are going to document them on our support forum to share with other people looking to do similar solar and battery powered security camera projects. Below is a link to the image that you took resized to exactly 1600 x 1200 pixels which is 2 megapixel.
Two Megapixel IP Camera Image
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/images/wireless/2-megapixel-IP-Camera-image.jpg
That is the size of the video and images that the camera is capable of capturing. However, one thing to consider is the total size of those targets. Can you please give me the exact size, width and height of the total area? We can then calculate what lens will work best for your application and at what distance you need to mount the camera. I have a feeling that you may need to mount the camera farther back from the gun targets than you first wanted. Also, is the gun range indoors or outdoors? If it is outdoors and the camera will be left outdoors, then you will also need to purchase an outdoor housing for the camera like any of these:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-Housing-p/hpro-605.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-Housing-p/hbpro-601hb.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Arecont-Vision-Camera-Housing-p/hsg1-o-w.htm
Please let me know the dimensions of the entire target area.
Follow up questions & comments form the gun range owner:
The sketch is kind of crude because I used MS Paint and Im no artist but it gets the job done J and I have made some corrections to the sketch.
The shooting range is in a remote location. It is accessible using a dirt road. There is no 110 VAC power available. Its out in the woods. J
Since I dont have a 110 VAC power source available at our location, I will use a battery and an inverter to provide the 110 VAC. I can then use the POE and plug my notebook computer in using the standard power supply.
My laptop has wireless network capability built in but for this application I wont need to connect to anything else. I could connect with the wireless connection if you think it would be better.
The camera has ePTZ. I am not familiar with that. I assume it simulates the camera connected to a mount that moves. Is the ePTZ function controllable through the network connection and how much movement is there? The target is 36 in x 36 in. and I need to scan and focus in on a specific area of that surface.
Reply from CCTV Camera Pros:
I would definitely recommend connecting to the laptop wired, and not wireless to the bridge antenna. In regards to the ePTZ function of the IP camera, it stands for electronic pan tilt zoom. The camera does not actually move, but instead allows you to digitally zoom in to different part of the video focus area. This camera is able to support that because it is a megapixel camera and supports high resolution. So, for example if you have the camera focused on the width and height of the target and you need to zoom in a bit more on a specific part of the target to confirm it was in fact hit, you will be able to do that using the ePTZ function.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. It is great that you are doing all of this thorough research upfront to make sure you get exactly what you are need. It is no problem if you have more questions. We prefer to answer as much as possible upfront rather than have you get something that does not fit your requirements.
Follow up from gun range owner:
Thank you for your assistance. I know this is a unique application and I want to get it right before making a purchase.
The way I see it is as follows:
The camera connects to one of the antennas via a cat-5 cable. Power input for the camera is 12 vdc and 24 vdc for the antenna.
On the other end the notebook computer connects to the other antenna via another cat-5 cable. Power requirements are 12 vdc for the notebook and 24 vdc for the antenna.
I will take care of the power requirements.
Do these connections sound correct to you?
Refer to sketch below. Are the connections correct?
Dont worry about the power supplies. Ill take care of the power requirements.
CCTV Camera Pros reply:
Nice job on the diagram. Yes, you are correct. Let me just add a few details. The the wireless transmitters include a POE power supply. It it is basically a very small box (about 2 inches long) that has three connections. 1) A power input which gets connected to the AC power supply included with the unit (the power supply is basically about the same size as a cell phone battery charger and connects to a standard 110 power source). 2) An RJ-45 / Cat5 POE out which connects to the antenna to provide its power and connectivity 3) An RJ-45 / Cat5 Ethernet input to connect to the camera. So again, your diagram is correct, but I just want to make sure you understand the details of how the power and connectivity is being delivered to the wireless antennas.
Also, on the bridge side, typically there is a network switch that both the laptop and the access point antenna connect to, instead of connecting the antenna directly to the laptop, but for your application, I think the direct connection will be fine. If you ever want other device to see the camera on a network, you can add a network switch at any time.
Last, I want to mention that CCTV Camera Pros offers a service where we can pre-configure the wireless bridge and camera for you so that when you get the equipment everything will connect for you when you power it up. As part of this service, we also make sure that all IP devices have been updated to the latest firmware version. The cost for this is $20 per device, so $60 total for this application in case you are interested in that.
Please let me know if you have any further questions and have a great weekend.
Follow up questions from gun range owner:
We are in a remote area with no power. I was planning to power the antennas, camera, network switch and notebook computer with rechargeable batteries and solar chargers. What do you think?
CCTV Camera Pros reply:
It is certainly possible to power both the camera and wireless camera system with solar or battery power, but I am sorry that I can not offer any expertise in that area. We have some installers that we are partnered with that have deployed applications like this, but we do not get involved in that piece at this time.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else

Ivan3492,
Thank you for the kind words about the support forum. I am glad that you have found it to be useful. When the GV-iView app displays that all cameras are recording, it is just reporting the current recording state of the Geovision system that you are connecting to. Nothing is being recorded to your iPhone, so you do not have to worry about video using up all of the space on your phone.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.
-Mike
naser,
Are you still having trouble with the new GV-iView iPhone app?
mcsworks,
Yes, Geovision does support megapixel resolution using Arecont megapixel IP cameras. Can you please describe in detail the view that you are in on your Geovision system and how you are getting there?
Thank You.
-Mike
Philster,
Please let me know if the camera you are referring to was purchased from CCTV Camera Pros so that we can try to duplicate the issue and help you.

aklams,
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. If your remote internet access to your DVR is working locally on your LAN as you described but not working remotely over the Internet, then the problem is with your port forwarding and firewall preventing you from accessing from the Internet.
Please follow these instructions step by step:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Remote-Camera-Monitoring-s/285.htm
If you are still having trouble, please call us at 888-849-2288 and have your order ID or the first and last name that your order was placed using.
Thank You.

Thank You for watching our videos and for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. Here are answers to your questions:
- What exactly does a DVR card do? (you don't have to go into detail!)
A DVR card basically turns a computer into a DVR. The DVR card captures the video from surveillance cameras and the software that is included with the cards controls things like recording schedule, event and alarm detection, playback & search, email alerts, etc. We recommend Geovision and NUUO DVR cards. We really like both lines. If you have not already done so, you can watch our NUUO video here or on our youtube channel:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-Surveillance-Systems-s/296.htm#videos
Yes, you can use either a premade CCTV camera cables as you can see here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Security-Camera-Cables-s/258.htm
or you can use a spool of RG59 siamese cable, where you cut the cable to your own custom length:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/RG59-Siamese-CCTV-Cable-s/259.htm
and attach BNC connectors to the cable yourself like these:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-Crimp-p/bncmalecrim.htm
Do I need a specific type of camera?
You can use any CCTV camera that has a BNC video connector. Any of these will work for example:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Infrared-Security-Cameras-s/29.htm
No, that is all you need.
30 frames per second / per channel is the fastest that a surveillance system can record at and is considered real time motion video. Please note that if you are looking at a 4 channel Geovision card like the GV-600 that is 30 FPS, that is divided among the number of cameras recording, so 4 cameras would record at 7.5 frames per second each.
For 4 cameras, the GV-600 will give you a pretty good experience at 7.5 FPS each, however, the upgrade to the GV-650 or GV-800 is well worth it in my opinion.
Some additional notes for you: Based on the satellite image, either of these cameras will work well for you:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IR-Security-Camera-p/bipro-540l4.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-IR-CCTV-Camera-p/bipro-ec550vf.htm
For the office that it is difficult to run wires to, you can use a wireless transmitter with an outdoor IP camera. This equipment would work:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Security-Camera-System-p/wifi-en95610.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f731e.htm
If you decide that you want to use a wireless camera for the office, then I would recommend looking at NUUO DVR cards instead of Geovision as they are easier to implement a hybrid system with CCTV cameras and IP cameras and it is more affordable also because NUUO supports more types of IP cameras that are lower in cost.
If you would like to discuss your project in more detail, please email me directly at mike@cctvcamerapros.net or call 888-849-2288, ext 86 to reach me.
Sincerely.

All of the specs look fine except that both Geovision and NUUO recommend using a nvidia or ATI graphics card instead of using on board video embedded into the motherboard of the PC. It looks that your PC does not have a separate graphics card so you should plan on adding one. When you do that, be aware that the 275 watt power supply may not be sufficient for the system after you add the graphics card and DVR card. CCTV Camera Pros builds systems with a minimum 400 watt power supply.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank You.

Follow up email from customer:
Thanks for the note back Mike. So if I want to play these existing .dvr files in a DVD I cant because I cant convert the file? It seems like any video that you can play on a computer should be able to convert somehow. I guess I have to ask the DVR manufacturer to write a conversion routine? I need this fixed before I buy another one.
CCTV Camera Pros DVRs least converts to an AVI which should play in a DVD right?
CCTV Camera Pros response:
I would recommend asking the manufacturer of your existing surveillance DVR if they have software that can export or convert the .DVR files into an AVI file. Once you have an AVI file, you can pretty much use any standard video software converter on windows or MAC to convert to any file format that you need, including DVD format.
It is a two step process unless you have a DVD player that can play .avi files. You should check your DVD player manual to see what files are supported. It is much more typical and most of the time more convenient to play back surveillance video on a computer instead of a DVD player. That way you do not have to go through this mutli-step export and conversion process.
The surveillance system that we sell that is by far the simplest to export video as an AVI file is our NUUO PC based DVRs which can be found here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PC-Based-DVRs-s/307.htm
You can watch some online videos about the system here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-Surveillance-Systems-s/296.htm#videos
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.

Alex,
If it is our H.264 4 channel digital video recorder then you can follow these remote camera monitoring instructions.
The ports that you mention are not the ones for that model DVR, so I think you are using something else. Whether you are using ours or another manufacturer's DVR, here are a few pointers:
- Get local connectivity working first with the LAN IP address. ( you already did this )
- Make absolutely sure about which port(s) your DVR is using and require port forwarding.
- Make sure you know your WAN / Internet IP address on the network where your DVR is located by running this tool from a computer on the same network with your DVR: https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Get-IP-Address-s/174.htm
- If you are still stuck, when trying to connect using the WAN IP address while on the same network as the DVR, try from a different network
- DO NOT try accessing from your dyndns hostname until you have successfully connected using the Internet IP address directly first (to make sure the problem is not with the dynamic dns service).
Shay,
CCTV Camera Pros has provided step by step instructions for setting up remote viewing for Geovision using the webcam server which is the preferred method here:

Lou,
This is the process that we follow to upgrade Geovision software:
- Uninstall the Geovision software using the uninstall program (this should be located in your Windows start menu in the Geovision section
- Run the new Geovision installation program from your DVD or download file
- Choose install driver first and select remove first to remove the old Geovision drivers
- Choose install driver again to install the new Geovision drivers
- Install the new Geovision main program last
Please let us know if you have any further questions.

There are two ways to use mobile phones to view video remotely with the current version.
1.)Using PDA/smart phone viewer which runs on Windows Mobile (5.0 and 6.0) to access live streaming from the main console, the required resolution is 240×320.
Please refer to the link for supported mobile phones, https://support.nuuo.com/mediawiki/index.php/Supported_mobile_phones
2.)Using general mobile phone (3GPP). Accessing live streaming by the mobile phones that support RTSP (usually running on Symbian OS).
Please refer to the link for 3GPP device setup, https://support.nuuo.com/mediawiki/index.php/3GPP_device_setup
Support for iPhone will be coming out with version 3.3, which is targeted to be released in Q1 2010.

We received an email reply from our contact at Vivotek. Unfortunately there is no support for Microsoft silverlight at this time.
pingadude,
Thank you for posting to CCTV Camera Pros forum. In answer to your questions:
1) I would recommend putting the camera below the light if possible.
2) A good height to mount cameras with a wide lens, 3.6mm for example, is at about 10 – 12 feet from the ground. This gives you a good viewing angle and generally is out of reach from vandals.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.

mhoeft,
Here is a link to Geovision version 8.31 download:
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/v8.31.zip
That is the full 8.31 DVD so it is quite a large file to download. Included on the DVD is the Geovision center V2 software. Here is a link to the Geovision Center V2 setup instructions.
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-Center-V2-Setup-s/252.htm
Thanks.
-Mike
mhoeft,
CCTV Camera Pros typically recommends using the webcam server built into Geovision for remote viewing. You can find setup instructions on our website here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-WebCam-Server-Setup-s/124.htm
If you want to view cameras from multiple systems on one screen, then you need to use the center V2 software that should have come with your systems. If they did not, you should contact the distributor that you bought those systems from. If they can not help you, please let me know and I will do my best to get this software to you.
Thank You for using the forum.
Sincerely.

Login to the DVR by pressing the menu button. Enter your admin password. From the main menu select configuration. On the configuration screen, select system information. This screen will display the firmware version.
I have a very reliable internet connection it's 22MBPS and I have a 1GB Lan connection (True 1GB connection both on router and PC).
How do I check the firmware?
We definitely purchased from you
BadWolf747,
I am sorry to hear that your remote viewing experience has not been great. Although we highly recommend our NUUO PC based DVRs and Geovision PC based surveillance systems for customers that want the very best remote viewing experience, the JPEG2000 Dual Codec DVR does offer a more affordable solution for those on a stricter budget. We do sell quite a few of these units and most customers are quite pleased with the performance. That being said, there is always some trouble with any system out there and usually we have a solution for the ones that we provide. Here are some suggestions for you.
1) Most remote viewing problems are related to Internet connectivity quality and not the DVR itself. Although you may think that your Internet connection is great because your web browsing experience is good, that does not mean that you connection is not dropping sometimes which would cause interruption to a more constant connection like a remote viewing video stream. A simple tool that we recommend using is a connection speed test which can be found here:
https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
For a good experience, we recommend having a connection with at least 1MBPS download speed. Please understand the the upload speed is the important one at the location of your DVR because the video is being uploaded from that location of the DVR and downloaded on the other end where you are viewing from.
Speed is not the only issue. Your connection must also be reliable.
2) Make sure that you have the latest firmware installed on your DVR. Your firmware version should not be older than version 1.34. If it is, please email us info@cctvcamerapros.net with your customer name or company name used for your order and we will reply with the download.
3) Please ensure that you purchased this equipment from CCTV Camera Pros. Many people contact us online and think that they purchased from us because we are a well known supplier and easy to find online, but find that when they call us that they did not get their CCTV equipment from CCTV Camera Pros. There are different versions of the JPEG2000 DVR available in the industry and some are manufactured differently. We can only support the equipment manufactured for us and do not know the reliability of the others on the market.
4) Our manufacturer has supplied us with a best practices to solve some of the common connectivity problems with the IRS software used to access the JPEG dual codec DVR remotely. Please refer to this page and see if these ideas help your situation:
5) If you are still having trouble, please call us at 888-849-2288. We always want to help resolve all issues with our equipment.
In regards to iPhone remote viewing, the JPEG2000 does not support this unfortunately. The only solutions we have at this time is to use a video server on each channel that you want to view from your iPhone. This video server does a great job:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-Network-Video-Server-p/v111t.htm
The other solution is to use a Geovision DVR card. Geovision has developed an iPhone application. Setup instructions can be found here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.

Toni,
Thank You for posting to the surveillance forum. Yes, the SCB-1004 supports one channel of audio recording. CCTV Camera Pros has documented how to setup audio surveillance recording in the NUUO software. You can find step by step instructions here: audio surveillance recording. Please post any follow up questions that you have to the support forum.
Thank You.

Follow up question from customer:
Thank you Mike. In an IP based surveillance camera system, is an NVR ncessary? If it is only for live viewing? Or is it possible to simply plug a bank of cameras directly into a router?
Answers from CCTV Camera Pros:
It is not necessary unless you want to record or view multiple cameras remotely over the Internet on one screen. If you just want to view the cameras live locally from a PC then you can access each camera directly. If you want to pull together mutliple cameras on one screen, then it depends. In most cases, there is software included with IP cameras that will allow you to do this. For example, our Zavio F210A IP camera includes software that will let you view and record up to 16 Zavio IP cameras. However, if you want to view up multiple cameras on one screen from remotely over your network or the Internet, then you need to upgrade to NUUO IP camera software.
Please let us know if we can help further.
Sincerely.

Malcolm,
Sorry that this post was not replied to sooner. Yes, you can configure the Geovision webcam server to run https / SSL for secure remote connections by following these instructions:
- From the main Geovision console, click on the network button and select Webcam Server
- On the server setup screen, click on the Server tab
- Check the Enable SSL checkbox
- Use port 443 to access the webscam server through itnernet Explorer
- To access remotely over the Internet, be sure to setup port forwarding on your reouter for port 443
If you have not already configured your webcam server, you can find those instructions here: Geovision webcam server setup.
We hope that this helps.
Hello Mike,
This port is useless now.
It used to be prepared for a remote control sensor, however, we removed this feature from the specifications for SCB-1000 series card.
Thank you!

recelect,
We will check this week to see if you can check the firmware version from a remote location.
Thanks.

leonardoq,
Thank you for posting your question. coax surge protectors are actually recommended to be placed on both ends of your cable run (camera & recorder ends). We offer this CCTV coax video surge protector.
We also carry one that protects both the coax and power cable, but it is not yet on the website. If you need help with it, please give us a call on Monday at 888-849-2288.
Thanks.

gagan,
Please let me know what you mean by languages specifications. There is no programming involved if that is what you are referring to. Please take a look at this article which reviews one possible implementation with wireless equipment for CCTV cameras.
Wireless security camera system installation
Please note that the easiest way to deploy a wireless surveillance system is by using IP cameras.
Please post any follow up questions on this forum.

recelect,
Below is the recommendation from the DVR manufacturer:
Here are a few tips to follow when using the network on the DVR:
Lets be sure that the customers clicks "Disconnect" before closing any instances of the client software.
Ask your customer if they are doing the remote connection from a wired line or wireless connection, wireless connections can drop or timeout before you have the chance to properly disconnect and end the session.
When using Transmitter, make sure that the bitrate set in the "SETUP" part of the Transmitter is less than or equal to the actual connection bitrate, usually the default bitrate is 500Kbps and most bitrate connections are around 200Kbps from a remote location. Having the SETUP bitrate higher than the real bitrate connection speed can lead to network bottlenecks and timeouts. Our office machine has these settings:
Also, have your customer do a speed test at the DVR location (http://www.speedtest.net) and check the upload speed, you customer should have at least a consistent 384Kbps upload at the DVR location for the remote connection to be practical.
Finally, check the firmware for the DVRs that are giving you problems, if the Dual Codec DVR has a firmware older than 1.34 then update to the version 1.34.
Please remember that we also need to isolate all other factors by connecting the DVR directly to a PC with a crossover cable and connect for an extended periods of time to see if we can duplicate the network problems. Our office dual codec has firmware 1.34 and network wise is rock solid (never disconnects).
Please let us know if this helps.
Thanks.

Hello Mike,
So far we don't support it and have any plan on it.
Hi Guys,
With the SD7151 zoomed in at 18X, you will be able to frame a car or a person roughly 200 feet away. You can also get a feel for the performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4i5ULFZ4w4.
Hope this helps!
Hello,
To use email notification with the VS7100, please use an external SMTP server that uses port 25 and doesn't support SSL authentication. VS7100 does not support SSL authentication and the SMTP port 25 is unable to be changed. Gmail uses port 465 and SSL authentication.
You can enter a Gmail address into the recipient email address, but cannot use Gmail to send email with the VS7100.
Some of our newer products do support SSL authentication and the ability to change the SMTP port. (e.g. IP7161, VS8102, etc.)
Thank you for your support of Vivotek products.
Vivotek support,
Can you guys please help this customer? Please see the above original post. Does the VS7100 allow you to adjust the SMTP port to use with gmail? Has the email alert function for the VS7100 been testing by Vivotek using Gmail? If not, can you please schedule a test and document the setup process?
Thank You.

Follow up iPhone questions from customer:
- Which out door IP cameras wired and wireless will work. I phone/mac. I guess you could put in a housing.
All of the IP cameras on this page have been confirmed to work with the iPhone & MAC using safari: https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/iPhone-Surveillance-Camera-Systems-s/347.htm
These network video servers can allow any CCTV camera that we supply work with iPhone & MAC:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-Network-Video-Server-p/v111t.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Video-Encoder-p/vivotek-vs7100.htm
You can not use your MAC for recording. For recording, a windows PC is required or a stand alone network video recorder (NVR).
Viewing from multiple locations is not a problem. Recording is more tricky because if requires a lot of upload bandwidth speed to do.
Please post any follow up questions.
Thanks.
-Mike
Hello Mike,
So far nuuo only supports Windows Internet Explorer.Safari, Firefox and other browsers are not supported yet.
Mountainjayhawk,
Again, CCTV Camera Pros way more specializes in video surveillance and offers audio as an add-on so any system we have is more centered around video surveillance. That being said, the simplest and most affordable solution that we have to offer is the following:
- One NUUO DVR PCI card with 4 channel video / 4 channel audio
- This stand alone audio surveillance microphone
- You can either choose a premade audio/ video surveillance cables that runs both the audio and video to use with the mic or you can use a spool of RG59 siamese cable with BNC and RCA ends that you put on your self like these:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-Crimp-p/bncmalecrim.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/RCA-Connect-Tight-Connector-p/rca-male-compression.htm
As much as I do not like to turn down business, we are honest here and recommend that if you are implementing an audio surveillance only solution that you may want to see if there are better audio only solution available on the market.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Hello mike,
Please refer below link for how to activate the IP license from a dongle.
https://support.nuuo.com/mediawiki/index.php/Online_License#Activate_from_a_dongle
After that, you will get a SN (serial number) in license management tool. Please do remember to write down the SN to be in case.
Here is the response that we received from Arecont Vision:
Yes, you can use an Arecont HSG1-O-W-IR infrared housing with IR illuminator capability with any of the day night megapixel cameras.
CCTV camera pros added the housing to our website here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Arecont-Infrared-Housing-p/hsg1-o-w-ir.htm
This customer is going to run nsinfo32 on his system and email us the hardware configuration.

Hello Mike,
To upgrade from 1.0 to 2.1, the procedure must be 1.0->1.2->1.3->2.1. You will need to download three files to upgrade.
Below are the links to download the three files:
1.0->1.2:
1.2->1.3:
1.3->2.1:
Hello Mike,
1) The IR-cut Filter is usually engaged and disengaged according to the lighting levels when set to "auto" mode. You can also manually engage or disengage by setting to "day" or "night" mode respectively.
2) Yes, you can use an enclosure with IR Illuminators with the IP7161. You may use Vivotek's AE2000 enclosure for this purpose.
Danny,
Please see answers below:
1) How do you connect these cameras to the wireless network? You can use add on wireless receivers like these:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Security-Camera-System-p/wifi-en95610.htm
These are actually sets consisting of both transmitters & receivers. With each of these you can configure both of the antennas to be receivers to connect to an existing wireless network.
2) Does each camera have its own IP address that we could set up a link for online?
Yes.
3) How would we go about doing so?
You can access the cameras directly from Internet Explorer web browser.
4) Can multiple users view the same camera feed simultaneously?
Yes, but keep in mind that you are limited by how much bandwidth your network can support. The more users that log on, the slower the response time will be.
5) How difficult are the cameras to install? Are there any special steps that we would need to be aware of?
As long as you can run the cables between the cameras and wireless add-on, and you can supply power to the cameras, the rest is easy.
6) What do you think about the feasibility of our project?
It is feasable. You just need to make sure it is realistic for you as far as how much bandwidth you have available on your network.
7) Do you have a ballpark price estimate for everything we would need?
The link above will show you the pricing for the wireless antennas. That price would be per 2 cameras if you have an existing wireless mess network already in place on your campus. Here are some links to IP cameras that we recommend with pricing:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IP-Network-Camera-p/zavio-f210a.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Dome-IP-Camera-p/zavio-d510e.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f731e.htm
8) Is this even the best way to go about implementing such a system, or are there other setups that you feel would be better?
A wired system is always more reliable than wireless. If you can tap in to the network using wiring, you are better off.
Please reply if you have further questions.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Wolfzx12r,
I apologize but it does not look familiar to me. I did a Google search for the model # that you posted and I did nnot find anything except the message that you posted. I wish I could be more help.
Please let us know if we can help in the future.
Sincerely.

Hello Mike,
As to dual monitor issue, we are working on launching 6000 card to replace 5000 card – it supports 30 fps at CIF or 7.5 fps at D1 recording and is able to display analog cameras on secondary monitor.
As to TV-out issue, we are going to launch 7100 card to support TV out for more flexible installation. There will be two models to support 2 TV-out or 4 TV-out.
We target to release above new products on Nov 2009. I will keep you updated about the status.
Greg,
Start by verifying the following:
- What port # is your DVR using? Make sure that you add the port number to the end of the URL like this: https://192.168.1.104:8000 for example if your DVR uses port 8000.
- If your DVR is using port 80, you may want to change it.
- Are you sure that your DVR supports remote access through the IE web browser? Some DVRs do and some do not. Some DVRs use a client application that comes with the DVR that you must install
Although I do not think that you are using one of the DVRs that CCTV Camera Pros supplies, you can take a look at the instructions for some of our units and improvise a bit for your. Please see these two links:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DVR-Viewer-Connection-s/227.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-WebCam-Server-Setup-s/124.htm
Please let me know if we can help further.
Thanks.
-Mike
Wolfzx12r,
Based on the pictures that you uploaded, I do not think that it is a JPEG2000 DVR, unless it is an older unit or a custom case made specifically for the distributor that supplied that one. Anyway, you can try these JPEG2000 stand alone DVR password reset instructions. If that does not work, you need to hunt down the password reset instructions for that particular unit. If you can not get in touch with who installed or sold you that unit, that may be difficult.
Feel free to use our surveillance system support page also.
Good luck and let us know if we can help you further.
Sincerely.
-Mike
I also confirmed with NUUO that the remote live viewer and remote playback viewer software included with NUUO IP camera software as well as NUUO DVR cards can connect to both PC based DVRs and NVRmini to view all cameras from multiple locations.
There's no problem to do that. The NUUO CMS supports all other DVR/NVR/NDVR and NVRmini so you are able to view cameras on both PC based DVR and NVRmini on CMS simultaneously.
Jamie,
Please take a look at these two pages and let us know if this helps.
https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/support/topic/nuvo-port

Cliff,
The Geovision webcam server will only stream video to Internet Explorer. Streaming video from webcam is not yet supported using firefox.
If you are interested in setting this up for IE, then please follow the Geovision webcam server setup instructions found on that link.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thank You.
-Mike
Jamie,
First see which ports your NUUO system is set to use for the live streaming service. Do this by clicking on the config button from your main console and selecting Network Service. On the network service screen, click on the live streaming icon in the upper left. You should see a screen like this one:
The two ports that you need to forward in your router are circled above. In the above example, you would access the NUUO live streaming server from Internet Explorer by going to:
You can also watch a video of this setup by going here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-Surveillance-Systems-s/296.htm#videos
Please let us know if we can help further.
Thank You.
-Mike
warholim,
Thank You for posting the detailed Geovision iPhone setup information for everyone. Are you accessing on your local area network or remotely over the Internet. If you are accessing remotely over the Internet, can you please let us know which ports you have forwarded in your router to your Geovision PC?
Thank You.
-Mike
warholim,
Thank You for posting. After you are done with your testing, if you could share any information with the group about what you did to get it working properly, that would be much appreciated.
Sincerely.
-Mike
eidelj,
What type of Internet connection do you have? If you are using a DSL connection, call your ISP and make sure that your modem is properly bridged and that there are no firewall settings in your modem that need to be disabled. Also, if you are using a DLS connection that uses PPPOE Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet), you need to make sure that your DSL PPPOE settings are programmed into your router.
If you are not using DSL, you should call your Internet provider at this point anyway and tell them that you are setting up remote access to your Geovision system and that everything works fine on your LAN. Ask them is there is something that they need to enable or disable to allow Internet traffic into your network. Ask them if there is any problem with you using port 80. If so, switch the Geovision webcam server to use port 8000 instead of 80 and switch your port forwarding setting from 80 to 8000 also.
Here are our Geovision webscam server setup instructions in case you need to reference them, but it sounds like you did all of this already.
I hope that this helps.
Sincerely.
-Mike
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the advice. This forum is a great resource!
Amy
Amy,
If your DVR has an RJ-45 connection that most likely means that it is a network capable DVR. Typically, as with the DVRs that CCTV Camera Pros supplies, they come with remote viewing / network viewing software which can also backup video over the network or Internet. You will not be able to just telnet into the DVR and do anything useful. You need to find out if anyone has the software that came with that DVR.
In answer to your other question, a regular network cable should work fine. Nothing special about that.
Thanks.
-Mike
CCTV Camera Pros wrote an article on this subject a while back that can be read here: day care surveillance system article.
One of the best surveillance systems for a day care center that wants to allow remote login and viewing for parents is this 4 camera IP surveillance system which uses NUUO surveillance software.
If you want to expand beyond 4 cameras, you can also upgrade to the 8 channel version of the NVR (network video recorder). You can learn more about this system by watching this network video recorder video.
We also have some additional videos that you can watch to learn more about the NUUO surveillance software.
If you have any further questions, please post a reply to this forum topic, email us directly, or call us on Monday and we will be happy to plan this system with you and provide you with a formal quote.
Yes this is possible. You need to install a 2nd network into the PC. Then connect all of your cameras to a network switch. Connect the PC to the switch using one of the NIC cards. This will isolate all of the network traffic from the IP cameras on a separate network
The other NIC will connect to your router that has internet access (the one the rest of your network is on).
No cross over cable will be used. You will need to setup IP addresses on all of the IP cameras using the software they came with because a switch is not going to supply any IP addresses via DHCP.
I am not familiar with that surveillance application. I did a Google search and could not find it either. You posted this under the topic of Geovision surveillance. Are you referring to an older version of Geovision software, like Geovision 7? If you are, you can find some additional information of Geovision here: Geovision support.
Although CCTV Camera Pros does not carry that particular camera at this time, the basic steps for setting up an IP camera for remote viewing are the same.
1) Use the software that came with the camera to assign the camera an IP address.
2) Try to access the camera on your LAN to make sure communication is working.
3) To enable remote Internet access (access from the WAN), setup port forwarding within your router to forward the required ports to your camera. D-Link port forwarding instructions can be found here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm
The IP weatherproof rating code actually stands for International Protection Rating. The rating consists of the letters “IP” followed by two digits. The rating is defined by the international standard IEC 60529. The rating tells you the level of protection that the security camera body provides against the intrusion objects (including water). The standard basically defines the level or “waterproof-ness” that a camera provides.
The digits within the code indicate the level of protection. Click here for a reference to what the numbers mean:
Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. We carry guaranteed 95% copper RG59 Siamese cable which can be found here:

On that same page you can also find male and female power pig tail leads, AKA PT-3 and PT-4 leads.
We recommend either using crimp on BNC connectors or BNC compression connectors which can be found here:

Aaron,
The JPEG2000 stand alone DVRs do not support USB hard drives. They only support thumb drives and yes the backup does take a while to perform. If this backing up hours or days of video is an important requirement for your surveillance system, you may want to consider upgrading to a PC based DVR like the ones these with NUUO DVR cards & software:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PC-Based-DVRs-s/307.htm
They perform large backups quote well to external hard drives or over a network to a network drive.
You can also use a DVR card and build your own PC:

Please let us know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks.

CCTV Camera Pros ran some tests today using the following setup instructions provided by Geovision:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm
We were unable to get the live view working properly. Although we were able to connect to the remote playback viewer from our iPhone, we could not get the video to actually play. We were only able to pull up playback lists and see a still snapshot of the event. We will continue working on this and we will not complain for now being that this is a beta release of the GV-iView application.
Please post your experience with using the Geovision iPhone application to this forum topic.
Here is a link to an article on the beta release:
First, I would recommend a NUUO PC based DVR because you can start with an 8 channel DVR and over time expand it up to 64 cameras. Also, NUUO surveillance DVRs support both CCTV cameras and IP cameras. You need to use IP cameras for the cameras that will be accessed pver a wireless bridge. Here is a link to the NUUO PC based DVR that I recommend:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PC-Based-DVR-p/nuuo-pc5000.htm
If you prefer to use your own computer, you can use a NUUO DVR card for the wired cameras at the home location. Here is a link to the cards and the IP camera software:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-DVR-Cards-s/298.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-IP-Camera-Software-s/297.htm
Both can be used together on the same PC.
For the cameras at the home location, please reply to this post and let us know if the cameras will be going indoor or outdoor.
The following wireless camera system can be used provide communication between the recorder at the home location and the shop and barn locations. The barn and shop will each need need a one of these:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Camera-Systems-s/279.htm
These can transmit the signal of up to 4 IP cameras. For the outdoor cameras, I recommend this camera:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-Infrared-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f521e.htm
For the indoor model, this one does a great job:

There is no additional cost from CCTV Camera Pros for monthly Internet access to your cameras. As long as you have a high speed connection, you can setup remote access using these instructions:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Viewing-Setup-s/302.htm
Please let us know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks.

Yes, viewing mutliple camera locations in a single view is possible with NUUO DVR cards & NUUO IP camera software. The remote viewing application lets you setup groups of locations. Each location would have a NUUO DVR. Once connected to a group, you can pull cameras into the view from any of the DVRs in the group. Step by step instructions on how to set this up can be found here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Mutliple-Location-Remote-Camera-Viewing-s/318.htm
There are 2 things that must be done to setup an IP security camera for remote viewing when your Internet connection uses a dynamic IP address:
1) You must setup port forwarding to your camera to access from outside of your local area network. You can find some resources to do this here:
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm
https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PTZ-Internet-Camera-p/ptzpro-pz6114.htm#wireless-network-setup
2) When your Internet connection uses a dynamic IP address, you must setup a DynDNS account and input the account information into your router so it stays up to date in regards to what the current IP address is. You can find information on this here:
