Patrick,

Thank You for downloading the iCamViewer. This is kind of strange that Apple has a way to lock the iPhone in portrait mode but not a way to lock in landscape mode. In iOS 5, if you double tap on the home button and scroll right, you will see this feature. If I find a workaround, I will let you know.

Thanks.

in reply to: Battery/Upload etc basic questions #32318

Hello Carito,

Sorry for the delayed response please see the below answers.

1) Someone turns off the power to the house. How do I get around that? Can I add battery backup to every camera?

Battery Backup is correct.

2) Someone gets in then just steals the DVR. How do I get around that? Can any unit be set to upload the video somewhere?? What do most do for this? Defeats the purpose if they steal the unit after getting in the house.

There are a couple options.

Option 1.) You can get a DVR Lock Box. The DVR Lock Box bolts down to the floor and also has a key lock on the unit.

Option 2.) You can use GeoVision PC based DVR. GeoVision allows you to set an automated backup either as the recordings are happening or scheduled. This will allow you to back up the video to a storage device on site or remote from the location.

3) I see some units support x # of cameras. Would like to be able to expand also. What about this, or is that only something to worry about of they were hardwired and since I want wireless, I can exponentially add cameras up to whatever HDD space there is on a unit?

If you want to expand you will need to make sure the DVR or NVR will support the number of cameras you are looking for. Most standalone DVR's do not allow for expansion. If you will be starting out with 4 cameras and you know you will be exceeding that amount you may want to purchase a 8 or 16 channel DVR up front.

4)Would like to have 2-3 wireless cameras that can record at night and are wireless and can get wet if it rains. I can supply power, but would like to be able to add battery backup. Can I do that for u nder $200 a camera?

We do not have any outdoor wireless cameras in that price range. Wireless is not recommenced since it is completely dependance on the wireless network. Wireless cameras can also experience downtime , latency etc. Hard wiring cameras will always give you the best result.

5) Will the cameras and DVR integrate with the wireless I already have in the house. Standard WPA/WPA2 etc G/N type router?

It depends on the cameras. Typically that is the case. Some will run off access points , transmitters provided by the Manufacturer.

I hope this helps.

Thanks James

Hello bigb,

In regard to the first questions you can use a single Cat-5 cable to provide video for more than one camera. Please see the following link BALUN-4HUB This will allow you to run video for 4 cameras on 1 Cat-5 line.

In regards to the second question. The most economical approach is going to be our LPR-SC600HC however this camera will read License plates at a max of 27ft. If you cannot position the camera closer than here is the next option LPR-700H.

Here is some additional info on our LPR cameras https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/License-Plate-Capture-Cameras-s/283.htm

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello bigb,

Sorry for the delayed response. In regards to your question, With most cameras ,yes you do have to climb up to the camera every time you would like to access the cameras OSD menu. However some cameras use RS-485 cable to connect / interface with your DVR so that you can manage the OSD settings from your DVR.

Also you do not need to be a customer to get a response. However our responses on the support forum are sometimes delayed because direct customers are our 1st priority. I hope you can appreciate that.

This method requires that you have a Windows PC always running on the same network as your IP cameras or Internet surveillance DVR.

nrgeek,

In our experience, it is very difficult to repair a CCTV camera that has a broken cable lead because most of the time the cable is soldered to the circuit board of the camera by machine and the connections are too small to do by hand if you wanted to try to replace it. ON the other hand, it can also be difficult to figure out how the internal wiring is done on the lead to repair it. Most of the time, we replace cameras that are in the state that you are describing. I am sorry that I do not have better news for you. Please let us know if we can help further.

In the router do you have the options between single port forwarding and port range forwarding. If so make sure you are using the single port forwarding.

If that does not work. Make sure the ISP is not blocking any ports. Usually cable providers do not unless you have one of their business gateways. If you have a business gateway then you will need to have them bridge the gateway to the router.

Hello Chucky,

If you have two separate GeoVision DVR's on the same network you must change the http port so they are different as well. By deafault the GeoVisions http port is set to 80. On one of the machines you will need to change it to something different like 81. Once you do this , in the GV-iVIEW App you will need to type in the ip address:81 for the port number. Also in the port field below type in the Mobile port 8866 or 8867 depending on the DVR.

Leo2011,

CCTV Camera Pros is not a distributor of Eyemax DVRs, so I am not familiar with them. However, I will give you some troubleshooting techniques that may help. These steps are typically used on any brand DVR.

1) Try going into the DVRs configuration and making it so that the disk space is automatically overwritten when full. Most DVRs have a selling like this.

2) If that does not work, power your DVR down, open your DVR and disconnect the hard drive. Boot it up without the HDD connected and see if you have the same problem. If that solves the problem, you may have a bad HDD.

3) As long as you do not have any surveillance footage that you do not need to keep. Go into your DVRs settings and re-format the hard drive.

I hope this helps to solve the problem you are having.

Sincerely.

Hello kylejb2663,

Squiggly lines can be from a number of things such as cable interference, bad terminations and the most common insufficient amount of power.

You stated that you are using a PTZ camera. Most PTZ cameras do typically require a higher amperage power source because of the motorized lens , heater/blower etc. I would check with Q-see and make sure the power box provided will work with the PTZ camera in addition to the other 8 cameras.

Second I would check the cable being used. We CCTV Camera Pros have had issues with PTZ cameras and Plug-n-Play cables (pre-terminated cables)I would make sure you are using RG59 Siamese cable for the video and power of the PTZ camera.

If it is interference more commonly known as a ground loop you can use our Ground Loop Isolators.

I hope this helps.

Bo,

Thank You for posting your question to our forum. You can use either of these wireless network cameras to accomplish what you are trying to do:

Zavio-F312A-1.jpg

The Zavio F312A provides VGA resolution (640 x 480) and is available from CCTV Camera Pros for $179.99.

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f312a.htm

Zavio-F3106-1.jpg

The Zavio F3106 provides 1.3 megapixel resolution and is available from CCTV Camera Pros for $219.99.

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Network-Camera-p/zavio-f3106.htm

You also need a wireless router, such as a simple one from LinkSys or D-Link for example.

Although these routers are typically used for Internet access, you can also use them to create a local wireless network between your laptop and the camera.

Connect the laptop via a cat-5 cable to the wireless router, then configure the Zavio IP camera to connect to the router via WIFI.

You will then be able to access the camera from a web browser on your laptop. You can use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Google Chrome.

Please let us know if we can help further.

Thank you for posting your question to our support forum. Here is the solution for you. You can crimp both ends of your RG6 cable with a BNC connector. This one on our website is for RG59 but we also carry BNC crimp on connectors for RG6.

Here is the one for RG59.

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-Crimp-p/bncmalecrim.htm

Then on the TV end you can use a BNC to RCA converter which will allow you to connect your TV's RCA video input.

If you call us tomorrow after 9:00 AM EST we can place the order for you over the phone being that the RG6 BNC connector is not on our website.

Unfortunately the CATV input on your TV is not the same as a video input and can only accept input from a cable or satellite source. It would not work if you were to try to connect any other video device such as a DVR or camcorder into it either. The video will display correctly if the quad processor is plugged directly into a RCA video input of the TV. CCTV Camera Pros does not have an integrated surveillance camera with battery and solar power at this time, however, you can use a battery or solar power source to power any of our network IP cameras or CCTV cameras.

If you want to make any camera wireless, we have an add-on wireless system for security cameras. On the bottom of that page, there is an example installation that can explain in more detail how to use with CCTV cameras.

If you want to view CCTV cameras from an iPhone, you must connect them to either a network video server or a Internet capable surveillance DVR.

If you are going to also record on site, our iDVR is an excellent choice. Here is a link to an article that shows some screenshots and a video of the iPhone app that is included for free. This app is one of the best surveillance iPhone apps available for CCTV:

That is correct you can use the webcam server anywhere in the world as long as you have internet connectivity. If you want to connect via a web browser you will need to use Internet Explorer. You can also use the GeaVision Remote Client software which can be downloaded here https://usavisionsys.com/download/file.php?category=1&file=f899139df5e1059396431415e770c6dd

Apadana,

Some surveillance DVRs have a logging system built into them where the DVR logs each time a user logs into the DVR. If your DVR has such a log, I would recommend looking at it to see what activity has been going on.

If you want to make sure this employee does not view your cameras again, there are several things that you can do:

  • Make sure there is no network connection available near the DVR
  • Disable all outside access to your network on your router
  • If you have other network devices that must be accessed from the Internet, just disable the ports that your DVR uses
  • Make sure that only you have the password to your router so the settings can not be changed

in reply to: Using the iCamViewer App with 2 Zavio IP Cameras question #32130
Mike Haldas
Keymaster

Tracy5186,

The default port for Zavio IP cameras is 80. That is the http port which is the one you use for iCamViewer and web browser access.

In order to access two IP cameras that are on the same network from remotely over the Internet you need to configure the cameras on different ports, so one of them need to change from 80 to something else. I would recommend using 8000. The reason that you need to use different ports for the two cameras is because you need to setup port forwarding on your router for both cameras and you can not have two devices use the same port number otherwise your router would not know which one to forward requests to on port 80.

To configure two cameras for iCamViewer access:

  1. Set one camera to port 8000
  2. You can keep the other camera on the default port 80
  3. Setup port forwarding on your router for both cameras, using ports 80 and 8000
  4. Configure the cameras in iCamViewer

Let us know if you have additional questions.

Here is a link to the settings that need to be applied to your Geo Vision System https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-WebCam-Server-Setup-s/124.htm

Below are instruction to setup your GV-800 & Thomson TG82 for remote viewing.

1.)Open a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Enter the internal IP address of your router in the address bar of your browser. By default the IP address should be set to 10.0.0.138.

2.)You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default both the username and password are blank. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.

3.)Click the Advanced link near the left of the page.

You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click NAPT. Click the New link near the bottom of the page.

4.)You will need to create 3 different rules.

Rule 1:

Protocol: TCP

Inside IP: Ip address of your GV system

Inside and Outside Port: 4550

Rule 2:

Protocol: TCP

Inside IP: Ip address of your GV system

Inside and Outside Port: 5550

Rule 3:

Protocol: TCP

Inside IP: Ip address of your GV system

Inside and Outside Port: 80

5.)When you're finished, click Save All near the left of the screen to save your changes.

6.)Once you have saved the settings go to https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool and type in the port number that you have forwarded. Make sure it is open. If the port is closed proceed to the next step.

7.)If you have DSL for you internet service you will need to call your provider and have them bridge the modem to your Thomson router. This is a standard process.

Hope This Helps.

None of our DVRs have any negative side affect is you disconnect them from the network. For example, if you unplug the network cable from any of our DVRs, it does not impact the recording or anything else that is going on with the unit or settings programmed into it. Unfortunately, unless you purchased a CCTV Camera Pros DVR, I can not guarantee the same for your DVR. Here are some instructions on how to setup port forwarding on common routers https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm Once you have have completed port forwarding you can go here to check and make sure the port is open https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/check-open-port-forwarding-tool

Also if you have a DSL modem and a third party router you will need to call the ISP and have them bridge the modem to the router. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks James

Hello Minuteman3282,

Usually standalone DVRs come with software to either play the file or an avi converter so you convert the file type to play with any standard video player such as windows media etc. If you do not have the software you should try contacting the reseller or manufacturer you purchased the equipment from. They should be able to advise on were to download the software.

Hi Face155, here are the answers to your questions:

1- The Ethernet cable runs from your camera to your router, your router then assigns an IP address for that camera. You then enter that IP address into the Geovision system and adjust all the settings for the camera. From there the GeoVision system will manage all of the recordings, remote viewing and events such as motion etc.

2- The quality of the Geovision IP camera is excellent.

3- It does come with the software, but it only allows for a total of 16 cameras maximum both IP and Analog. If you need to add additional IP cameras you would need an additional software license seen here https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IP-Camera-Software-s/295.htm

I hope this information helps. Please let us know if we can further assist you.

The 1.5 amp is what we recommend for that camera. You can test with the 1 amp, but it may be a little underpowered with the IRs on. If you are not using the IRs, then the 1 amp will definitely be ok for testing.

Please let me know the outcome.

djp1n,

Thank You for reporting this issue on the CCTV support forum. I am sorry to hear that you are having some trouble with your surveillance camera. This is the first case of this that has been reported to us on a BIPRO-S600VF12 camera. Based on what you described, it sounds like the IR cut filter is not properly being reset and shifting back to day time color mode when it should. Can you please let me know what power supply you are using with this camera? Also, if you have another power supply that you can test with, I recommend testing with another power supply as it may be a bad power supply.

If you continue to have problems, I recommend that you send the camera back to us so that we can test. Your camera is under warranty, so if it ends up being defective, we will replace it for you at no charge.

Please let us know if you have any other questions and if you need to send the camera back for testing and possible warranty replacement.

Sincerely.

The VM-99516 16 channel CCTV multiplexer can support PAL or NTSC video modes. You can manually select which mode you want the multiplexor to run in my accessing the menu system, then selecting video system. Once the video system menu comes up you will see the following three options:

  1. AUTO : Auto detects NTSC or PAL, ir channel 1 camera is connected
  2. NTSC : Sets video system to NTSC mode
  3. PAL : Sets video to PAL mode

If your multiplexor is set to auto and that is not working correctly, please select NTSC mode to manually set.

If you are not using the default port which is 80. In the IP field you have to type in your ip address and then : 86. So it should look like this 192.168.1.102:86

Yes, it is possible to use video converters such as Pinnacle RCA to USB video caputure devices to do this. When using CCTV cameras you also typically need a BNC to RCA converter, because closed circuit cameras use BNC connectors, not RCA.

Here is outdoor wildlife camera that uses on of our S600VF12 outdoor CCTV cameras with a RCA to USB capture box and a windows PC. The video streams through uStream.

Creid,

Normally when you want to capture text output from a cash register or point of sale system, you use a POS surveillance module which records the actual text output on top of the video of one of the security cameras of your system. Unfortunately, there is no point of sale module for JPEG2000 DVRs.

The next best thing is to use a higher end / high resolution camera with a varifocal lens focused directly on the cash register screen. We have sold this high resolution security camera so many customers for this purpose:

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/High-Resolution-Security-Camera-p/pro-630dn28.htm

If you need a camera with a larger lens because the camera will be mounted more than 20 feet away from the register, I recommend this high resolution surveillance camera:

Tiki,

We do not recommend installing any firmware that you downloaded from our website unless you purchased your DVR from CCTV Camera Pros and are sure it is the correct model. It is not because we don't want you to use our formware updates. We actually try to help everyone out as much as possible with support, even for people that did not purchase equipment from us. It is one of the reasons that we have this support forum. We do not recommend using the firmware updaye because many times DVRs will look the same as the models that we offer by not in fact be made by the same manufacturer. There is a risk that incorrect firmware can damage your DVR.

If you did purchase the DVR from CCTV Camera Pros, please let me know the email address that was used for your order so that I may lookup and see which DVR you have. You can email your order information to info@cctvcamerapros.net.

CNMF,

You do not need to forward the ports on both the router and the modem. First, you should ask your ISP to help you bridge the model so it no longer acts as a router. Then all router settings will be done at the linksys router. You can not have two devices on your network that both act as routers. This will prohibit you from accessing anything from outside of your network.

Also, I recommend that you get everything working with port forwarding first. Then after that is working, setup the DDNS. IF you try to do both at the same time, it is harder to troubleshoot.

CCTV Camera Pros response:

The system that I recommend would be a PC based NUUO IP recorder with 5 megapixel Arecont cameras. As long as those nine fiber connections create a single network for you, you can use a single centralized recorder. Each 5 Megapixel camera recording at 5 megapixel resolution at 7 frames per second recording would use 35mbps (megabytes per second of bandwidth). So for 21 of them, the total network bandwidth used would be 735 Megabytes per second. They definitely would nee a gigabit network dedicated to their system. This means that it is recommended that their surveillance system be put on a separate switch from the rest of the network and the switch should be a gigabit ethernet switch.

crystal202,

You can find a PDF manual for the discontinued MP416 DVR on this page:

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Surveillance-DVR-Manuals-s/79.htm

I am sorry but because that model was discontinued over 2 years ago, remotes, accessories, and software updates are no longer available for it. H.264 requires a certain type of hardware so even if there were software updates available, this unit would never use H.264 compression. The MP416X2 software is not compatible with the MP416.

If you are considering the purchase of a more up to date DVR, I recommend that you take a look at our iDVR series:

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/H264-Stand-Alone-DVRs-s/358.htm

It is state of the art with H.264 compression and support for iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and Windows remote viewing. A customer recently contacted CCTV Camera Pros looking for a megapixel IP camera with the following requirements:

I'm wondering if you could advise of a camera product that would satisfy all or most of these features:

– Megapixel (preferably)

– outdoor use

– IP (built-in server)

– PTZ (remote through ip client)

– full time NTSC video out (for supplying an "in-house" channel) – still works even if IP client is accessing

– on-board storage (memory card – for several hours of history / high resolution stills stored forever during alarm events)

– 2-way audio

– day and night (low light) imaging

Here is CCTV Camera Pros reply:

Thank You for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. I am not aware of any megapixel PTZ camera on the market. The idea behind megapixel is to actually phase out PTZ.

Check out this megapixel model (non-ptz):

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-Megapixel-Camera-p/vivotek-ip7361.htm

Please let us know if we can help further.

The customer followed up with:

Thanks for the suggestion – that is a fairly good grouping of the options I was looking for. Would I be able to get a simultaneous "video out"?

CCTV Camera Pros reply:

Although that megapixel camera does not have an analog video output, that camera is compatible with this IP camera to analog decoder which basically can give you an analog/CCTV output with BNC anywhere on the network that the IP camera is on:

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Video-Decoder-p/vivotek-rx7101.htm

Please let me know if you have any questions about how to use this product.

An existing NUUO customer contacted us and asked the following related question:

I purchased a NUUO surveillance system a while back and they have been working well. In reference to the remote viewer, it appears that I am limited to 16

connections, is there a way of increasing that number or is there a client I could install on multiple pcs so that I could view all 6 cameras on 5 different PC at on time. That would be a total of like 30

connections.

CCTV Camera Pros reply:

The NUUO remote live view client supports up to 25 cameras on one screen. You can create multiple screens. The cameras can all be at the same location or at multiple locations. This is the remote live view client that I am talking about that is on the NUUO CD. The web browser view is different that the remote view client and supports up to 16 cameras on one screen.

If you are using the NUUO remote live view client and do not see support for up to 25 cameras, you may need to upgrade to the latest version of NUUO. PHowell,

In order to access your camera remotely either from our iCamViewer or directly from the Safari (or other) web browser, you must setup port forwarding to your camera. Please take a look at the port forwarding instructions on this page:

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm

After you setup port forwarding, to access your cameras from outside of your local network (LAN) you must use the WAN IP address of the location of your camera, which is the IP address of your internet connection. You can lookup this address by using our IP address lookup tool here:

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Get-IP-Address-s/174.htm

Last, if your internet connection uses a dynamic IP address (which means your ISP can change it from time to time) you will want to use a dynamic dns service so that you can enter a hostname instead of an IP address when you access remotely. The DynDns service keeps track of when your IP address changes and you never need to worry about it. You can read more about this here:

https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm#dynamic-dns-setup

If your Internet connection has a static IP address, you can just use the IP all the time and you do not need to use DDNS.

Please let us know if we can help further.

Sincerely.

Please see answers below:

  1. As clarification: I do or don't need a computer connected to the DVR to view the cameras remotely? I am really looking for something to monitor on my smartphone and really don't want to leave a computer connected to the DVR.

That is correct. You do not need a computer connected to the DVR to view the cameras remotely. You only need a computer if you want to view from a computer. If you will access from mobile, then no PC is required.

  • More clarification: If I want to view the camera on a smartphone, I'm probably not going to get 512kbps. The system will adjust framerate and/or resolution to fit down a smaller datarate, right?
  • You are correct. The video streamed to mobile is much smaller than to a computer and requires less bandwidth. The frame rate that you get on your phone will be dependent on how fast your Internet connection from your phone is.

  • Is the pan-tilt-zoom control manipulatable via the blackberry interface?
  • PTZ controls are not yet supported for the mobile access of this DVR.

  • Are there any demo screen captures of what this looks like on a Blackberry or Windows Mobile?
  • Yes, you can see some screenshots of the blackberry DVR viewer here:

    irishcrows,

You can create a PTZ tour with up to 64 preset points. Note the number of preset points also depends on your PTZ capacity.

To setup a PTZ camera tour using your Geovision system, follow these instructions:

    1. Click the Configure button, point to Accessories, and select Camera Mapping PTZ Dome. This camera mapping dialog box appears.
    2. Select a camera channel from the Camera drop-down list.
    3. Select the PTZ model connected to the selected channel from the Device drop-down list.
    4. If you have two identical PTZ cameras set in the system, you may use the Address drop-down list

to choose the one with the correct address. Up to 64 addresses can be supported.

    5. Select Multi Position Tour on the Camera Mapping Setup dialog box, and click the Setting button. This dialog box appears.

    vra1974,

There is a way to view your cameras on the iPhone while using the jpeg2000 stand alone DVR. You need to add a video server/encoder to each of the cameras that you wish to view. If you use the video loop out for the channel you want to view and attach the loop out to this video encoder:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Video-Encoder-p/vivotek-vs7100.htm

Then you can view the camera on the iPhone using safari or using CCTV Camera Pros FREE iphone app, the iCamViewer:

    Hello Michael,

You should check your Upload speed at the site of the GeoVision Server and were you are trying to remotely view the cameras. You can do a speed test here https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest. For 32 Cameras you would want 1.5 to 2 meg upload.

Using an application similar to what you are using now it is possible to view from an iphone. You would need a video server that is compatible with iphone like this Zavio video server https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-Network-Video-Server-p/v111t.htm Unfortunately they do not make a two port server so you would have to purchase one for each camera. Once you have the servers setup you can view from your iphone going right through the safari web browser https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/iPhone-Setup-for-Zavio-IP-Cameras-s/349.htm Or you can use the free iphone app provided by CCTV Camera Pros which is compatible with the Zavio & Vivotek Servers and Cameras. https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Camera-iPhone-App-s/362.htm

    Gustavo,

If you are able to access on your local network but not remotely over the Internet, then most likely one of the following is the problem:

    • Your port forwarding is not setup correctly
    • Your modem has a firewall that needs to be disabled
    • You are using DSL with a separate router and your DSL modem is not properly bridged

To setup your port forwarding, you must know what ports your DVR uses and you can refer to these instructions:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm#port-forwarding-setup

If you are using DSL and you need to find out if there is a firewall or if your DSL modem needs to be bridges to your router, you should contact your service provider.

Although we are not familiar with your DVR or modem / router, the concepts for setup are basically the same for any DVR to be setup for remote access. Maybe you can refer to the instructions for one of our DVRs and improvise. You will need the manual for your Thomson Speedtouch 780 WL modem to know how to setup the port forwarding. You also need to find out for sure if it is in fact a router also.

Here are instructions for one of our DVRs:

    djdeb,

The DDNS and DHCP settings do overlap between the router and the DVR. This is the case for any IP device.

Some routers, like older LinkSys models do not let you setup static IP addresses for devices on your network so you must setup the static IP address for your devices using the device itself. I am referring to internal (LAN) IP addresses right now. I recommend setting your DVRs IP address using the DVR and like you said setting it way up at the high end of your routers DHCP range.

In regards to DDNS settings, again these setting can typically be managed by your router and by each device. My preference and recommendation is to use the router to manage your DDNS settings or to download and windows client and use dyndns.org. I found once that LinkSys was contacting the DDNS service too often and they disabled my account. So I switched to using the windows client (it is a small program that is always running on a windows PC connected to your network) that they provide and I never had that problem again. The downside to this method is the PC must always be running.

Last regarding the HTTP port, some ISPs are strange about incoming requests on port 80 so you may want to change that port if it causes you trouble and you are able to.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    • Enter your DVRs hostname or IP address, the default port is 7000
    • Click the login button

You must access your DVR through that website at this time. We are in the process of developing the iDVR iPhone application which will be an actual iPhone app that will save all of these setting for you. This is scheduled to be completed and available in the app store within this month.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: there are now native iPhone and Android mobile apps to view your security cameras connected to your iDVR. The apps are available to download for free. Click on the preceeding link for more information and to download.

    Reply from customer:

In the photo the total area that the individual targets are placed on is 36 inches x 36 inches. The individual targets that I staple to the surface vary in size and shape ( 8 inches to 12 inches in diameter) and are typically as shown in the photo.

The placement of the camera will be in front of and below the target. The minimum distance from the target has to be 8 feet to 10 feet but this distance can be increased as required.

The range is outdoors but the camera and equipment will be setup for the shooting session and put away when finished. Nothing will be left outside. This will be a portable system.

    The re-sized photo looks great.

    Response from CCTV Camera Pros:

I setup a test environment where I placed a 5 megapixel camera 10 feet away from an area about 3.5 feet wide. Please look at the attached pictures. I used the 5 megapixel camera and took still shots at 2 megapixels and 5 megapixel resolution. I took one shot with a simulated target with bullet holes using a standard 8.5 x 11 printer paper. I also took another shot without the target so you can see the clarity with text on the product box I used.

Click on the below link to see the 2 megapixel and 5 megapixel camera images:

    https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/images/megapixel-cameras/2-megapixel-security-camera-image-target.jpg

I did not have a IP-V97161 out of the box to test with so I used the following 5 megapixel camera with a 4.5 to 13mm varifocal lens:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/5-Mega-pixel-Security-Camera-p/ip-av95105dn.htm

Are you making sure that the LAN IP address that is assigned to your Geovision PC is static and not changing? Some routers like D-link allow you to assign network devices static IP addresses. You can see how to setup static IP addresses on a D-Link router here:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/DLink-Router-IP-Setup-s/162.htm

    Mike,

I have one additional question. The target area is 36 in. x 36 in. There are multiple targets in that area as shown in the attached photo (taken with a HP Photosmart M22). Will I be able to zoom in and see each of the targets close enough to observe the bullet holes? If the IP-V97161 megapixel camera will give me an image like the attached photo it should work just fine.

Below is my latest updated diagram that shows how the wireless camera system and solar power will layout.

    wireless-security-camera-system-solar-powered.jpg

I have researched batteries, inverters and solar chargers. I know this is not your area of expertise but I thought you might be interested. Two Megapixel IP Camera Image

    https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/images/wireless/2-megapixel-IP-Camera-image.jpg

That is the size of the video and images that the camera is capable of capturing. However, one thing to consider is the total size of those targets. Can you please give me the exact size, width and height of the total area? We can then calculate what lens will work best for your application and at what distance you need to mount the camera. I have a feeling that you may need to mount the camera farther back from the gun targets than you first wanted. Also, is the gun range indoors or outdoors? If it is outdoors and the camera will be left outdoors, then you will also need to purchase an outdoor housing for the camera like any of these:

Follow up questions & comments form the gun range owner:

The sketch is kind of crude because I used MS Paint and Im no artist but it gets the job done J and I have made some corrections to the sketch.

The shooting range is in a remote location. It is accessible using a dirt road. There is no 110 VAC power available. Its out in the woods. J

Since I dont have a 110 VAC power source available at our location, I will use a battery and an inverter to provide the 110 VAC. I can then use the POE and plug my notebook computer in using the standard power supply.

My laptop has wireless network capability built in but for this application I wont need to connect to anything else. I could connect with the wireless connection if you think it would be better.

The camera has ePTZ. I am not familiar with that. I assume it simulates the camera connected to a mount that moves. Is the ePTZ function controllable through the network connection and how much movement is there? The target is 36 in x 36 in. and I need to scan and focus in on a specific area of that surface.

    Reply from CCTV Camera Pros:

I would definitely recommend connecting to the laptop wired, and not wireless to the bridge antenna. In regards to the ePTZ function of the IP camera, it stands for electronic pan tilt zoom. The camera does not actually move, but instead allows you to digitally zoom in to different part of the video focus area. This camera is able to support that because it is a megapixel camera and supports high resolution. So, for example if you have the camera focused on the width and height of the target and you need to zoom in a bit more on a specific part of the target to confirm it was in fact hit, you will be able to do that using the ePTZ function.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. It is great that you are doing all of this thorough research upfront to make sure you get exactly what you are need. It is no problem if you have more questions. We prefer to answer as much as possible upfront rather than have you get something that does not fit your requirements.

Follow up from gun range owner:

Thank you for your assistance. I know this is a unique application and I want to get it right before making a purchase.

The way I see it is as follows:

The camera connects to one of the antennas via a cat-5 cable. Power input for the camera is 12 vdc and 24 vdc for the antenna.

On the other end the notebook computer connects to the other antenna via another cat-5 cable. Power requirements are 12 vdc for the notebook and 24 vdc for the antenna.

I will take care of the power requirements.

Do these connections sound correct to you?

Refer to sketch below. Are the connections correct?

Dont worry about the power supplies. Ill take care of the power requirements.

    wireless-camera-system.jpg

    CCTV Camera Pros reply:

Nice job on the diagram. Yes, you are correct. Let me just add a few details. The the wireless transmitters include a POE power supply. It it is basically a very small box (about 2 inches long) that has three connections. 1) A power input which gets connected to the AC power supply included with the unit (the power supply is basically about the same size as a cell phone battery charger and connects to a standard 110 power source). 2) An RJ-45 / Cat5 POE out which connects to the antenna to provide its power and connectivity 3) An RJ-45 / Cat5 Ethernet input to connect to the camera. So again, your diagram is correct, but I just want to make sure you understand the details of how the power and connectivity is being delivered to the wireless antennas.

Also, on the bridge side, typically there is a network switch that both the laptop and the access point antenna connect to, instead of connecting the antenna directly to the laptop, but for your application, I think the direct connection will be fine. If you ever want other device to see the camera on a network, you can add a network switch at any time.

Last, I want to mention that CCTV Camera Pros offers a service where we can pre-configure the wireless bridge and camera for you so that when you get the equipment everything will connect for you when you power it up. As part of this service, we also make sure that all IP devices have been updated to the latest firmware version. The cost for this is $20 per device, so $60 total for this application in case you are interested in that.

Please let me know if you have any further questions and have a great weekend.

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. If your remote internet access to your DVR is working locally on your LAN as you described but not working remotely over the Internet, then the problem is with your port forwarding and firewall preventing you from accessing from the Internet.

Thank You for watching our videos and for contacting CCTV Camera Pros. Here are answers to your questions:

    1. What exactly does a DVR card do? (you don't have to go into detail!)

A DVR card basically turns a computer into a DVR. The DVR card captures the video from surveillance cameras and the software that is included with the cards controls things like recording schedule, event and alarm detection, playback & search, email alerts, etc. We recommend Geovision and NUUO DVR cards. We really like both lines. If you have not already done so, you can watch our NUUO video here or on our youtube channel:

      https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-Surveillance-Systems-s/296.htm#videos

  • How is it connected to cameras (I'm looking at the Geovision GV-600 or GV-800 series cards). Is it just a cable going directly from the card directly to the cameras?

Yes, you can use either a premade CCTV camera cables as you can see here:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-Security-Camera-Cables-s/258.htm

  • or you can use a spool of RG59 siamese cable, where you cut the cable to your own custom length:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/RG59-Siamese-CCTV-Cable-s/259.htm

and attach BNC connectors to the cable yourself like these:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-Crimp-p/bncmalecrim.htm

Do I need a specific type of camera?

You can use any CCTV camera that has a BNC video connector. Any of these will work for example:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Infrared-Security-Cameras-s/29.htm

  • Is there any other equipment I need besides a PC, DVR card and the CCTV cameras?
  • No, that is all you need.

  • What are the benefits of recording at a higher frame rate? To me 30fps looks pretty smooth and I can't decide if recording at a higher frame rate will be necessary for me?
  • 30 frames per second / per channel is the fastest that a surveillance system can record at and is considered real time motion video. Please note that if you are looking at a 4 channel Geovision card like the GV-600 that is 30 FPS, that is divided among the number of cameras recording, so 4 cameras would record at 7.5 frames per second each.

  • I'm trying to decide if the GV-600 will be adequate.
  • For 4 cameras, the GV-600 will give you a pretty good experience at 7.5 FPS each, however, the upgrade to the GV-650 or GV-800 is well worth it in my opinion.

Some additional notes for you: Based on the satellite image, either of these cameras will work well for you:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IR-Security-Camera-p/bipro-540l4.htm

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-IR-CCTV-Camera-p/bipro-ec550vf.htm

For the office that it is difficult to run wires to, you can use a wireless transmitter with an outdoor IP camera. This equipment would work:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Security-Camera-System-p/wifi-en95610.htm

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f731e.htm

If you decide that you want to use a wireless camera for the office, then I would recommend looking at NUUO DVR cards instead of Geovision as they are easier to implement a hybrid system with CCTV cameras and IP cameras and it is more affordable also because NUUO supports more types of IP cameras that are lower in cost.

If you would like to discuss your project in more detail, please email me directly at mike@cctvcamerapros.net or call 888-849-2288, ext 86 to reach me.

    Sincerely.

    CCTV Camera Pros response:

All of the specs look fine except that both Geovision and NUUO recommend using a nvidia or ATI graphics card instead of using on board video embedded into the motherboard of the PC. It looks that your PC does not have a separate graphics card so you should plan on adding one. When you do that, be aware that the 275 watt power supply may not be sufficient for the system after you add the graphics card and DVR card. CCTV Camera Pros builds systems with a minimum 400 watt power supply.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Follow up email from customer:

Thanks for the note back Mike. So if I want to play these existing .dvr files in a DVD I cant because I cant convert the file? It seems like any video that you can play on a computer should be able to convert somehow. I guess I have to ask the DVR manufacturer to write a conversion routine? I need this fixed before I buy another one.

CCTV Camera Pros DVRs least converts to an AVI which should play in a DVD right?

    CCTV Camera Pros response:

I would recommend asking the manufacturer of your existing surveillance DVR if they have software that can export or convert the .DVR files into an AVI file. Once you have an AVI file, you can pretty much use any standard video software converter on windows or MAC to convert to any file format that you need, including DVD format.

It is a two step process unless you have a DVD player that can play .avi files. You should check your DVD player manual to see what files are supported. It is much more typical and most of the time more convenient to play back surveillance video on a computer instead of a DVD player. That way you do not have to go through this mutli-step export and conversion process.

The surveillance system that we sell that is by far the simplest to export video as an AVI file is our NUUO PC based DVRs which can be found here:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PC-Based-DVRs-s/307.htm

    Alex,

If it is our H.264 4 channel digital video recorder then you can follow these remote camera monitoring instructions.

The ports that you mention are not the ones for that model DVR, so I think you are using something else. Whether you are using ours or another manufacturer's DVR, here are a few pointers:

    1. Get local connectivity working first with the LAN IP address. ( you already did this )
    2. Make absolutely sure about which port(s) your DVR is using and require port forwarding.
    3. Make sure you know your WAN / Internet IP address on the network where your DVR is located by running this tool from a computer on the same network with your DVR: https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Get-IP-Address-s/174.htm
    4. If you are still stuck, when trying to connect using the WAN IP address while on the same network as the DVR, try from a different network
    5. DO NOT try accessing from your dyndns hostname until you have successfully connected using the Internet IP address directly first (to make sure the problem is not with the dynamic dns service).

    BadWolf747,

I am sorry to hear that your remote viewing experience has not been great. Although we highly recommend our NUUO PC based DVRs and Geovision PC based surveillance systems for customers that want the very best remote viewing experience, the JPEG2000 Dual Codec DVR does offer a more affordable solution for those on a stricter budget. We do sell quite a few of these units and most customers are quite pleased with the performance. That being said, there is always some trouble with any system out there and usually we have a solution for the ones that we provide. Here are some suggestions for you.

    1) Most remote viewing problems are related to Internet connectivity quality and not the DVR itself. Although you may think that your Internet connection is great because your web browsing experience is good, that does not mean that you connection is not dropping sometimes which would cause interruption to a more constant connection like a remote viewing video stream. A simple tool that we recommend using is a connection speed test which can be found here:

    https://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

For a good experience, we recommend having a connection with at least 1MBPS download speed. Please understand the the upload speed is the important one at the location of your DVR because the video is being uploaded from that location of the DVR and downloaded on the other end where you are viewing from.

Speed is not the only issue. Your connection must also be reliable.

    2) Make sure that you have the latest firmware installed on your DVR. Your firmware version should not be older than version 1.34. If it is, please email us info@cctvcamerapros.net with your customer name or company name used for your order and we will reply with the download.

    3) Please ensure that you purchased this equipment from CCTV Camera Pros. Many people contact us online and think that they purchased from us because we are a well known supplier and easy to find online, but find that when they call us that they did not get their CCTV equipment from CCTV Camera Pros. There are different versions of the JPEG2000 DVR available in the industry and some are manufactured differently. We can only support the equipment manufactured for us and do not know the reliability of the others on the market.

    4) Our manufacturer has supplied us with a best practices to solve some of the common connectivity problems with the IRS software used to access the JPEG dual codec DVR remotely. Please refer to this page and see if these ideas help your situation:

    https://videos.cctvcamerapros.com/support/topic/jpeg-h264-dual-codec-surveillance-dvr-internet-viewing-failure

    5) If you are still having trouble, please call us at 888-849-2288. We always want to help resolve all issues with our equipment.

In regards to iPhone remote viewing, the JPEG2000 does not support this unfortunately. The only solutions we have at this time is to use a video server on each channel that you want to view from your iPhone. This video server does a great job:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Zavio-Network-Video-Server-p/v111t.htm

The other solution is to use a Geovision DVR card. Geovision has developed an iPhone application. Setup instructions can be found here:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Geovision-iPhone-Application-GV-iView-Setup-s/329.htm

Please let us know if we can help further.

    Follow up question from customer:

Thank you Mike. In an IP based surveillance camera system, is an NVR ncessary? If it is only for live viewing? Or is it possible to simply plug a bank of cameras directly into a router?

    Answers from CCTV Camera Pros:

It is not necessary unless you want to record or view multiple cameras remotely over the Internet on one screen. If you just want to view the cameras live locally from a PC then you can access each camera directly. If you want to pull together mutliple cameras on one screen, then it depends. In most cases, there is software included with IP cameras that will allow you to do this. For example, our Zavio F210A IP camera includes software that will let you view and record up to 16 Zavio IP cameras. However, if you want to view up multiple cameras on one screen from remotely over your network or the Internet, then you need to upgrade to NUUO IP camera software.

    recelect,

Below is the recommendation from the DVR manufacturer:

Here are a few tips to follow when using the network on the DVR:

Lets be sure that the customers clicks "Disconnect" before closing any instances of the client software.

Ask your customer if they are doing the remote connection from a wired line or wireless connection, wireless connections can drop or timeout before you have the chance to properly disconnect and end the session.

When using Transmitter, make sure that the bitrate set in the "SETUP" part of the Transmitter is less than or equal to the actual connection bitrate, usually the default bitrate is 500Kbps and most bitrate connections are around 200Kbps from a remote location. Having the SETUP bitrate higher than the real bitrate connection speed can lead to network bottlenecks and timeouts. Our office machine has these settings:

    JPEG-DVR-Network-Settings.jpg

Also, have your customer do a speed test at the DVR location (http://www.speedtest.net) and check the upload speed, you customer should have at least a consistent 384Kbps upload at the DVR location for the remote connection to be practical.

Finally, check the firmware for the DVRs that are giving you problems, if the Dual Codec DVR has a firmware older than 1.34 then update to the version 1.34.

Please remember that we also need to isolate all other factors by connecting the DVR directly to a PC with a crossover cable and connect for an extended periods of time to see if we can duplicate the network problems. Our office dual codec has firmware 1.34 and network wise is rock solid (never disconnects).

Please let us know if this helps.

    Thanks.

These network video servers can allow any CCTV camera that we supply work with iPhone & MAC:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Video-Encoder-p/vivotek-vs7100.htm

  • I would guess the software could be run on a MAC that was using Parrells running Windows. Will the software allow recording.

You can not use your MAC for recording. For recording, a windows PC is required or a stand alone network video recorder (NVR).

  • Can the software allow viewing and recording for multiple locations.

Viewing from multiple locations is not a problem. Recording is more tricky because if requires a lot of upload bandwidth speed to do.

  • Please post any follow up questions.

    Thanks.

    Mountainjayhawk,

Again, CCTV Camera Pros way more specializes in video surveillance and offers audio as an add-on so any system we have is more centered around video surveillance. That being said, the simplest and most affordable solution that we have to offer is the following:

    1. One NUUO DVR PCI card with 4 channel video / 4 channel audio
    2. This stand alone audio surveillance microphone
    3. You can either choose a premade audio/ video surveillance cables that runs both the audio and video to use with the mic or you can use a spool of RG59 siamese cable with BNC and RCA ends that you put on your self like these:

      https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/CCTV-BNC-Crimp-p/bncmalecrim.htm

      https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/RCA-Connect-Tight-Connector-p/rca-male-compression.htm

As much as I do not like to turn down business, we are honest here and recommend that if you are implementing an audio surveillance only solution that you may want to see if there are better audio only solution available on the market.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Sincerely.

    Mike Haldas

    Danny,

    Please see answers below:

    1) How do you connect these cameras to the wireless network? You can use add on wireless receivers like these:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Security-Camera-System-p/wifi-en95610.htm

These are actually sets consisting of both transmitters & receivers. With each of these you can configure both of the antennas to be receivers to connect to an existing wireless network.

    2) Does each camera have its own IP address that we could set up a link for online?

    Yes.

    3) How would we go about doing so?

You can access the cameras directly from Internet Explorer web browser.

    4) Can multiple users view the same camera feed simultaneously?

Yes, but keep in mind that you are limited by how much bandwidth your network can support. The more users that log on, the slower the response time will be.

    5) How difficult are the cameras to install? Are there any special steps that we would need to be aware of?

As long as you can run the cables between the cameras and wireless add-on, and you can supply power to the cameras, the rest is easy.

    6) What do you think about the feasibility of our project?

It is feasable. You just need to make sure it is realistic for you as far as how much bandwidth you have available on your network.

    7) Do you have a ballpark price estimate for everything we would need?

The link above will show you the pricing for the wireless antennas. That price would be per 2 cameras if you have an existing wireless mess network already in place on your campus. Here are some links to IP cameras that we recommend with pricing:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IP-Network-Camera-p/zavio-f210a.htm

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Dome-IP-Camera-p/zavio-d510e.htm

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f731e.htm

    8) Is this even the best way to go about implementing such a system, or are there other setups that you feel would be better?

A wired system is always more reliable than wireless. If you can tap in to the network using wiring, you are better off.

Please reply if you have further questions.

    Start by verifying the following:

    • What port # is your DVR using? Make sure that you add the port number to the end of the URL like this: https://192.168.1.104:8000 for example if your DVR uses port 8000.
    • If your DVR is using port 80, you may want to change it.
    • Are you sure that your DVR supports remote access through the IE web browser? Some DVRs do and some do not. Some DVRs use a client application that comes with the DVR that you must install

Although I do not think that you are using one of the DVRs that CCTV Camera Pros supplies, you can take a look at the instructions for some of our units and improvise a bit for your. Please see these two links:

    eidelj,

What type of Internet connection do you have? If you are using a DSL connection, call your ISP and make sure that your modem is properly bridged and that there are no firewall settings in your modem that need to be disabled. Also, if you are using a DLS connection that uses PPPOE Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet), you need to make sure that your DSL PPPOE settings are programmed into your router.

If you are not using DSL, you should call your Internet provider at this point anyway and tell them that you are setting up remote access to your Geovision system and that everything works fine on your LAN. Ask them is there is something that they need to enable or disable to allow Internet traffic into your network. Ask them if there is any problem with you using port 80. If so, switch the Geovision webcam server to use port 8000 instead of 80 and switch your port forwarding setting from 80 to 8000 also.

Here are our Geovision webscam server setup instructions in case you need to reference them, but it sounds like you did all of this already.

    I hope that this helps.

    Amy,

If your DVR has an RJ-45 connection that most likely means that it is a network capable DVR. Typically, as with the DVRs that CCTV Camera Pros supplies, they come with remote viewing / network viewing software which can also backup video over the network or Internet. You will not be able to just telnet into the DVR and do anything useful. You need to find out if anyone has the software that came with that DVR.

In answer to your other question, a regular network cable should work fine. Nothing special about that.

    Thanks.

CCTV Camera Pros wrote an article on this subject a while back that can be read here: day care surveillance system article.

One of the best surveillance systems for a day care center that wants to allow remote login and viewing for parents is this 4 camera IP surveillance system which uses NUUO surveillance software.

If you want to expand beyond 4 cameras, you can also upgrade to the 8 channel version of the NVR (network video recorder). You can learn more about this system by watching this network video recorder video.

Yes this is possible. You need to install a 2nd network into the PC. Then connect all of your cameras to a network switch. Connect the PC to the switch using one of the NIC cards. This will isolate all of the network traffic from the IP cameras on a separate network

The other NIC will connect to your router that has internet access (the one the rest of your network is on).

No cross over cable will be used. You will need to setup IP addresses on all of the IP cameras using the software they came with because a switch is not going to supply any IP addresses via DHCP.

Although CCTV Camera Pros does not carry that particular camera at this time, the basic steps for setting up an IP camera for remote viewing are the same.

    1) Use the software that came with the camera to assign the camera an IP address.

    2) Try to access the camera on your LAN to make sure communication is working.

    3) To enable remote Internet access (access from the WAN), setup port forwarding within your router to forward the required ports to your camera. D-Link port forwarding instructions can be found here:

The IP weatherproof rating code actually stands for International Protection Rating. The rating consists of the letters “IP” followed by two digits. The rating is defined by the international standard IEC 60529. The rating tells you the level of protection that the security camera body provides against the intrusion objects (including water). The standard basically defines the level or “waterproof-ness” that a camera provides.

The digits within the code indicate the level of protection. Click here for a reference to what the numbers mean:

The JPEG2000 stand alone DVRs do not support USB hard drives. They only support thumb drives and yes the backup does take a while to perform. If this backing up hours or days of video is an important requirement for your surveillance system, you may want to consider upgrading to a PC based DVR like the ones these with NUUO DVR cards & software:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PC-Based-DVRs-s/307.htm

They perform large backups quote well to external hard drives or over a network to a network drive.

    Mike Haldas

First, I would recommend a NUUO PC based DVR because you can start with an 8 channel DVR and over time expand it up to 64 cameras. Also, NUUO surveillance DVRs support both CCTV cameras and IP cameras. You need to use IP cameras for the cameras that will be accessed pver a wireless bridge. Here is a link to the NUUO PC based DVR that I recommend:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PC-Based-DVR-p/nuuo-pc5000.htm

If you prefer to use your own computer, you can use a NUUO DVR card for the wired cameras at the home location. Here is a link to the cards and the IP camera software:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-DVR-Cards-s/298.htm

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/NUUO-IP-Camera-Software-s/297.htm

Both can be used together on the same PC.

For the cameras at the home location, please reply to this post and let us know if the cameras will be going indoor or outdoor.

The following wireless camera system can be used provide communication between the recorder at the home location and the shop and barn locations. The barn and shop will each need need a one of these:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Wireless-Camera-Systems-s/279.htm

These can transmit the signal of up to 4 IP cameras. For the outdoor cameras, I recommend this camera:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Outdoor-Infrared-IP-Camera-p/zavio-f521e.htm

For the indoor model, this one does a great job:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/IP-Network-Camera-p/zavio-f210a.htm

There is no additional cost from CCTV Camera Pros for monthly Internet access to your cameras. As long as you have a high speed connection, you can setup remote access using these instructions:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Viewing-Setup-s/302.htm

Please let us know if you have any follow up questions.

There are 2 things that must be done to setup an IP security camera for remote viewing when your Internet connection uses a dynamic IP address:

    1) You must setup port forwarding to your camera to access from outside of your local area network. You can find some resources to do this here:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/PTZ-Internet-Camera-p/ptzpro-pz6114.htm#wireless-network-setup

    2) When your Internet connection uses a dynamic IP address, you must setup a DynDNS account and input the account information into your router so it stays up to date in regards to what the current IP address is. You can find information on this here:

    https://www.cctvcamerapros.com/Internet-Surveillance-Setup-s/156.htm#dynamic-dns-setup
