Certain Zavio IP cameras now have a built-in LPR camera mode – license plate recognition. The Zavio B8520 and Zavio B8220 are the first two models to support the new license plate capture settings that are available via a firmware update. The B8520 and B8220 are both extreme weather rated outdoor cameras. The B8520 supports up to 5 megapixel HD resolution and the B8220 supports 2 megapixel – 1080p HD resolution.

The security camera power output that is built into this CCTV test monitor was extremely useful during a recent system installation performed near Boulder, Colorado. The location had a 1941 commercial bus that was to be rehabilitated into the ultimate hang-out, viewing area, and fire pit. The owners of the property wanted to have high definition surveillance cameras to provide security for the bus and to also be able to view any wildlife that came into the area. When I started the installation, the construction site did not have electrical power fully in place. Being that I brought a CCTV test monitor that has built-in power output, I was still able to begin mounting and focusing the cameras without the permanent power source in place.

What is 960H

What is 960H video?

960H is the latest video resolution used by analog CCTV camera surveillance systems. The “H” in 960H stands for “horizontal” and 960 is the number of horizontal pixels in the video resolution. 960H is 960 x 480 video resolution. Unlike the generation of CCTV cameras and DVRs before 960H became a standard, 960H uses the 16:9 widescreen aspect ration which makes it more suitable for use with modern monitors and HDTV, almost all of which use a 16:9 aspect ratio.
